  1. the first gripe you have listed certainly is commercial and as such yes we could manage through without it.

the second two listed are about humanity, compassion human rights and equality so quite happy for them to have a place in football

none of the above points made city play badly however

  2. Chap outside the turnstile with his gainfully employed animal was perfectly affable and even let me know it was Jason knight who scored after I got held up in the utter debacle that was collecting tickets

probably helped I wasn’t carrying any drugs or had any drug related residue about my clothing though.

I’m hoping - with his self proclaimed attributes of pace/power/flair that he can replace some of the threat we lost when Semenyo left.

We’ve missed genuine pace, and if he can also replace some of Semenyo’s strength and athleticism that would be fantastic.

I’d never heard of him until last night - so no idea on his ability; just what he’s said about his style of play.

Brilliant point, goes under the radar how much we have missed Antonine, his pace and power and ability to scare teams was so valuable and we have lacked that thrust massively.

if he can match some of those attributes then no doubt it will open up the game for Tommy playing as one way more too

Every player is different, rule of thumb is probs around mid 20s though

I agree it really can take that long and loans,  U23 squads can help that but to suggest this guy is taking minutes from yeboah right now is crazy. Yeboah should be nowhere near the team at least at the moment - Pearson exposed him too fast too soon to make kind of point against the ownership

rumours abound that this has had an impact on his perceived standing and is close to the exit door based on his attitude

This place has been like an alternative universe ever since Pearson went.

Away from OTIB, so far as I could tell the main response to Pearson leaving was "That's a shame, I quite liked him. However, he's had a fair crack of the whip and we don't really look like going anywhere so why not try something new?" among City supporting friends and people around me in the stadiumat least. On here it was akin to people thinking the Lansdowns had cackled evilly as their 25 year plan to deny City certain promotion to the Premier League came to fruition.

The next thing that happened was people took everything said by the club hierarchy in the aftermath seriously! People in football bullshit all the time, but when the people here said we had a squad capable of challenging for promotion it was suddenly all deliberately made up lies to be used against them for years to come when in reality don't most clubs hope they have a squad capable of challenging? What would be the point otherwise unless you are a seriously small fish in a big pond? Somehow this then dragged Brian Tinnion into the axis of evil at the head of our club.

It is still a rare thread on here that doesn't include people complaining still about Pearson leaving, or cynically referring to our team as a 'top 6 squad'. It's tedious and unfortunately shows no signs of diminishing as the groupthink still holds sway in here.

I like OTIB, it’s well laid out, clear and easy to use with a good range of topics up for discussion.. However. it is good to take a step back and a breather because it can very easily convince you that it is the hive mind of how are entire fan base feels and it can make you feel extremely angry and hopeless at the nonsense conspiracy theories and OTT reactions to seemingly everything. But then you go to an actual game and it’s completely normal and you feel lighter.

a good point on people taking the club output as gospel unbreakable promises, like they have never engaged in the real world.. WHAT you are telling me Gillette might NOT be the best a man can get????!!!!

Completely agreed. Crude, simplistic and I’d add naive as well.  It’s as if the manager has 100% control over results which simply isn’t the case

Good point, people always seem to forget there’s a team opposite you also trying to win a game and having the subsequent conversations on their own forums.

2-1 tonight and it’s a great win for manning and although blunt up front it would have been our good football getting us to that result, keeper spills a shot and it’s a negative on Manning’s ppg.

for me and where we are at the moment it’s about the eye test, and I prefer watching us now under manning, although the same killer pass/finishing problems persist.

this conversation continues under this banner because of the ludicrous statements by the board on the capabilities of the squad. Why not just say it’s a different direction? Guessing there could be something in this about inciting the wrath of the unions or whatever for an unfair sacking (does that happen?) either way Any gains then this season would have been a delightful bonus positive, it’s so frustrating and the board gave so much ammo

    1) Only songs that can be heard on Robins TV are coming from the away end.

    2) You're at the game in the away end and on your phone posting on the forum......and you're complaining that our fans aren't being loud enough? Do you see the irony in that? 😂

I’m reading chant lyrics off my phone you see

I was surprised that that is what you’re hearing is all I’m saying. Fairly easy to be on your phone when you know there is not a lot of danger of city actually putting one in the net 🤣

I was thinking exactly the same thing the other day, and then I got to thinking what if the upper Lansdown stand continued around until a third or halfway along the South Stand? It would increase the capacity to close to 30,000, but would just look s**t. However if you mirrored something similar at the Atyeo end, it may not look so bad, but TBH it would only be a temporary or half arsed solution IMO anyway - just a stop gap to get more seats.

Ultimately, we all know the solution is that the houses in Ashton Road and Raines road would need buying up, and only someone with a "can do" attitude and finances to match would pursue that route - I don't think we have that kind of board at the moment, unless everything is very secret and clock & daggers!

Similarly, the first block of flats closest to the Dolman would need to be purchased also. Which reminds me, how safe are those flats these days? Especially given the situation with what's happened to Barton House in Lawrence Hill recently?

Would be only fair to pay more to demolish the Colin Daniel’s stand though..

Very true. Bears also doing very well for crowds.

Amazing to think that we could do with adding more capacity to the Gate as things are going.

What next - top tier on the South Stand, replace the Dolman or Atyeo stands?

No room behind the SS unless you start bulldozing and tidying up the ayteo in unlikely to get your much more capacity unless you start bulldozing.

i don’t think there is too much in the footprint between the lansdown and the dolman to be honest - so a mirror image stand would look pretty good!

my ultimate dream would be to bulldoze behind the ayteo and build round the same size from the lansdown making a “park end” pedestrianise the road and just have a stand that feeds out onto the park, could have all your corporate stuff up the top - large amounts of glass looking back across the park and to the bridge

I’d prefer football on a Friday night. Gives you entire weekend to do what you please then.

However, I know they’re a lot of people who live for football on a Saturday.

Agree 100% having the rest of the weekend free is priceless. work done, get the football fix, then everything else. Love it - would happily switch 3pm Saturdays to every Friday night

Much as you might like to believe otherwise, it was a minority thing back them too, especially by the time of the Forest incident you all seem so fond of, which was fairly recent compared to a lot of it.

I couldn't give a monkeys if it still goes on away from the grounds, at least it's no longer a part of the matchday experience and is no longer ruining watching football like it used to for the majority of fans.

P.S. pretty sure I'm not a millennial, I grew up watching City in the late seventies and early eighties.

dont spoil the narrative, you woke snowflake

You talk about number 2 but as you well know just as we seem to be on the cusp of building something along come Bournemouth etc to tempt our best players away and it starts again. I think the only way we will ever do it is if the planets align and we somehow shock everybody including ourselves and finally do it.

A good point, I guess you have to keep the conveyor moving successfully which is harder to do relying solely on the academy like us now as this takes longer. Probably why “moneyball” got Brentford where they are and how great succession playing can pay off like Brentford. Good examples of what we could be but owners have obviously been much more competent at doing it than ours!
