A Christmas first for us. Visited family in Oz many times but not in December. So will be lobster, giant prawns, turkey wings, glazed ham and various salad selections. Very much an outdoor Christmas

Everyone will be happy and content given the top 6 food budget.
Ha! Food's usually quite good and it's a good social occasion for older reds to reflect on perpetual disappointment and continuing poor decisions by the owner.

I don't recall people praising club comms? Wasn't it more like "finally, we hear from them..."
But yeah, you're right that we won't hear from the board for good while now. Unless we go on a cup run!
JL is supposed to be the guest speaker at Senior Reds Christmas lunch today.
I'm in Oz at the moment so will miss his words of wisdom regarding our promotion push.

I suspect that Manning thinks he's cleverer than he really is.
Repeatedly squandering points, some of which I have no doubt Nige would have secured.
We have replaced a very experienced managerial team with a wealth of knowledge, and who were making steady progress, with a bunch of inexperienced newbies at this level.
Manning is trying to change the playing style and consequently is undoing the strengths and team spirit created by his predecessors.
Could turn out to be an almighty blunder from JL and his henchmen.

We don't even have to go up.
The new TV deal for the Championship next season will see kick off days and times all over the weekend.
3pm kickoffs on a Saturday afternoon will be a thing of the past very soon
I'm setting myself up for a big whoosh here, but I'm not sure what coverage you mean
I wonder if he is referring to the egg chasers ko?

Bristol City could I suppose bolster their revenue by marketing the video of today's game as an assistance with insomnia and similar conditions.
That didn't work for me. I'm in Perth at the moment and watched on Robins TB. Game finished just before 1130pm local time. I was so cross/feed up with the performance & result I couldn't relax and get to sleep . I fear that when I'm back and get to my next game on Jan 1st, our points tally will be the same.

I think Yeboah offers a lot more than Mehmeti as an impact sub.

Ian Gay lives in Devon now, I believe.
Absolutely reasonable for him not to be there in those circumstances.
Wherever he lives, he manages to get to senior Reds most months.

Difficult time to come on, game stretched, Boro had just gone attack-heavy on their right side, taking off Van Der Berg and suddenly they had Silvera at RW and Jones at RB…not an easy proposition to defend against. And as you say the game was ragged, and that makes it harder to settle in too.
I know that they offer different attributes and skills etc. but when he came on Harry immediately got stuck in and made a significant and worthwhile contribution. Anis barely got involved until he made a great run almost resulting in a goal. Needs to offer more all round and especially defensively.

Nothing but a win will do as we are a front foot attacking team heading for a top six finish.......... apparently

Going back quite a bit, Tony Cook, GK, was often the worse for wear on Boxing Day games. I think !

Rumours of Fleetwood Mac are imo, better than the actual band playing now.
I tend to agree with you.
Plus they dip into the full catalogue of their music. Playing a lot of the early Peter Green tracks. Seen them a number of times and they never disappoint

Following on from my fav gig thread, what are peoples thoughts on tribute acts ? I've only seen 3, Live Wire...AC/DC, very good, Bootleg Beatles they were also very good and an ABBA tribute( not through choice) and they were very good aswell. A mate of mine is in a Depeche Mode and Human League tribute band and they are incredibly busy.
I've seen Livewire a few times and they are very good. Also the Illegal Eagles are excellent as are the ELO experience.
Rumours of Fleetwood Mac are outstanding

For all of the undeniable individual ability this is a very poor team performance. Made mediocre opponents look quite good.

It’s highly relevant. We looked at how he played there and liked it.
Yes it’s a step up in quality in this division. The players at his disposal at Oxford (the midfield trio at least) are high end League 1 players, nay, even championship level players.
The key difference here is that the central midfield trio are not high end players in this division. Therefore we will struggle to impose OUR game onto them.
So Oxford is very relevant, because the manager has been recruited because of his style he played there. But I’m afraid he will have quickly learned today that JL and BT have not built a promotion challenging squad.
This is no dig at Manning. I actually liked his style of play and I want him to succeed here. But he’s gonna need a number of replacements to do so.
I respect your thoughts and am aware that you have worked in scouting etc. However Oxford's high end midfield players didn't stop us putting 9 past them in two games earlier this season/preseason.
My limited knowledge/observation is based on over 70 years following this club. During that time only three managers have really impressed. AD for obvious reasons, GJ who almost pulled it off, and Cotts who gave me the most enjoyable season ever.
I was starting to think that Pearson, given time and backing might have added to the very small list.
I have real doubts about the new guy. Mainly because of those in control and making the decisions. I wonder whether getting rid of Pearson was more important to them than appointing Manning.
I so want to be proven wrong.

My thoughts are that it is irrelevant how Oxford play. They're in League One. Championship is a big step up(apart from Ipswich )
Also any new coach/manager would surely have encouraged the players to stick with Pearson's style of play for today's game and then use the international break to work on their own particular way that they want to affect change.
