  1. Their future is riding on uwe again that's been said in a court of law

Only gossip, but the wife of a friend works in the offices at the UWE, heard that the powers that be are no longer interested in the Rovers relocating there. In fact it's fairly common knowledge there that they want an end to this asap. They want to develop the site for educational use, not footie.

  2. Possibly right.

Thing is JET gets slated by the crowd for something wrong - another City will do the same and people will say unlucky etc. Just feel a bit sorry for him simply because he isn't the kind of player who will work hard but is capable of doing something that a player who works hard can't do.

The trouble is he is nothing like the player we saw last year. If his tricks don't work then he has very little to offer, ok, maybe a few nice layoffs, but we need much more than that from him. Also he seems to have lost his shooting boots, his efforts today were almost embarrassing. He was too much of a passenger today, unfortunately.

  3. JET was poor today. Contributed very little to the game. Cunningham is now so far behind Joe B that I can't see him ever keeping Joe out of the team and Williams is so much more accomplished with Joe in front of him.

Pack has done ok, but it shows how much we miss the combination of Korey Smith and Wade Elliot. The midfield today seemed very slow to get things moving.

They offered very little, though Fielding had to make a couple of good saves, as did their keeper. We pinged the ball in to the box repeatedly without anyone getting a good final touch.

Never mind when we knock out a prem team in the next round this will be forgotten ;)

  4. Osborne & Williams are central defenders who have been asked to play out of position. Flints injury an el flabs sending off meant they were back to where they like playing. So too were Cunningham and Maloney. Sounds like that's a back 4 that can hold onto a lead. Well done to them and gillet who is a revelation in the holding role.

With those 4 at the back and Elliot, Gillett, Pearson and Wagstaff in midfield, we look to have a strong line up to face STFC.

  5. Brilliant, couldn't cope with listening to RB second half, much too stressful!!

Sounds as though we fought for everything. As though it really meant something to the team. That's what we've wanted for a very long time.

If this is what SC has brought to the club then he's the first since GJ to put some pride into our performances.

Well done to all, (apart from the early departure!)

  6. Could not make today, but interested in your comments on El - could it be he is better in a position he has played in since before ww2?

Certainly looking that way. Cotts says we don't have the players for 4-4-2. But we were at our best today in that formation. We sure looked clueless playing 3-5-2.

  7. We looked a lot better with the players who finished the game, than with those who started. Be interesting to see if SC opts to start with Burns  and also play Jet "in the hole" on Tues.

Also Flint and El Abd looked more solid as a central pairing. First half was very poor though. Reid looked completely out of his depth today.

  8. Thought he looked good on the ball. Should of done better for the first goal, I think him and Williams would be a solid partnership, flint looked back to his old tricks today.

At times I thought Flint looked like a giraffe trying to kick the ball.

  9. Some odd reactions on here. As though we were suddenly storming up the league and playing great football. Well having seen pretty much every home game for many many seasons. I haven't seen much progress. We were hopeless against Sheff U. And only looked better against Orient in the second half because they were attacking us and the game opened up. SOD failed to put out a team with any fight in them last season, and this season we appear to be on course for another drop. People talk about insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome, in reference to the board. Well how about repeatedly playing a short lightweight striker on his own up front every game even when it quite clearly doesn't work. If, who ever comes in, improves results, those over reacting to SOD's departure will come round I've no doubt. Personally I don't care who comes in as long as they can put out a team who can start picking up a few more wins, 'cause under this guy they've been few and far between.

  10. Endorse that view whole-heartedly. He looks really useful, it was not an easy time to get into the game and make any sort of impression but I thought he did well. A few others could learn from that approach.
