It was a bloody nuisance having to report the theft to the police who couldn’t initially find anyone who spoke English. Eventually one showed up and I was able to cancel all my cards - naturally they had all relevant contact numbers. I got a crime number which enabled me to claim back on my insurance - ended up with a new wallet out of the experience.

I’d make the mistake of using a public ATM and drew out 300e where they’d obviously been watching.

The copper said they get thefts reported daily and I had to sit thru two albums of mug shots.

Revolut card is the way to go, keep your other cards in the room safe, load just what you need for the day onto the revolut card via the phone app .....and don't lose your phone!

One major issue that every tourist needs to be aware of is pickpockets. I had my wallet taken just as we got into tube as the doors shut.

How awful hopefully it didn't spoil holiday and you didn't have anything of great value in your wallet - guessing 30 euros, bowls club membership card, pack of condoms 4 years past their use by date, and a signed photo of Gary Johnson with the eyes gouged out ! ??

Dozens, but not 502. I’d guess that’s at least a part of the answer!

And the old Debenhams 1950's building has 4 floors albeit with very high ceiling height - unsuitable for direct conversion, energy costs etc, - the building would have to be stripped out to a shell, new layers of flooring, windows repositioned etc. The cost would be astronomical for a smaller return.

Demolishing the building seems unnecessary to me - but then I’m not and engineer or architect.

    Or an accountant either 😄

To me, it’s not about whether you were happy with James signing but the fact that the manager seemingly wasn’t. For all anyone knows he might have had a different keeper in mind and it might have prevented him having enough budget to bring in other players he wanted.

I think this was a factor, as I understand Coppell wanted to sign Kitson and Ingermarsson - 2 players who had done well for him before - but SL vetoed the signings because they were too old, too expensive , and would have no value at the end of any contract..........SL then signed James who was both old and expensive!  James himself has said that he didn't meet Coppell until after he'd signed

Or, drive to Long Ashton and park up outside The Angel. Get phone out, start searching on RightMove for a new property. Buy house in LA. Forget this nightmare ever happened.

But not forgetting to plan a bank robbery to pay for it

The other one I think is a bit bizarre is Wickwar. Big new housing development on the outskirts

The Wickwar villagers campaigned for ages against the new developments ( fair enough it's their village) but what made me laugh was when one of the first new 4 bed houses to be be built and occupied ( right next to the cottage on the corner) immediately stuck a  "Say no to new houses in Wickwar"  poster in their window!

The ultimate NIMBY- buys a house on a new development and immediately objects to anyone else doing the same.

The one shop Wickwar had is now a private house as you say but an even bigger tragedy was the closing of Wickwar real ale brewery....I've now got to go to Uley to get my weekly polypin!

So for me it’s a fundamental shift of plan/style/philosophy/identity if we go a certain way on this. Which of course has always been the major issue with moving from one managerial ‘type’ to another.

As Ron Walker said in his excellent Sky Sports article

"a club perpetually searching for its identity."

They do a bloody lovely 'Fry Up' at the Birdcage...that's why there is always a bunch of white van men parked up either ordering takeaway or sit in. They used to have breakfast buffet trays lined up outside specifically for that.

Their breakfasts are tiny- and who puts cherry tomatoes on the vine on a fry up plate?

I live in Charfield and I don't see many van men, the car park is full of large SUV's.

My next door neighbour runs a small company who do work on mostly local construction sites and he takes the crew out every Friday for a fry up and the builders ( always the good judge of a decent breakfast) choice of venue in this area is Tortworth Farm Shop - his guys don't rate the VBC or the Hideout at Leyhill !

I was working at Renishaw for a few months recently and went past this twice a day. It looked nice but was never open or I'd have thought about stopping for a coffee or something!

It's a girly place - I wouldn't bother unless you like this stuff.....

I agree on the last bit certainly. His asking price whatever that might be is patently too high.

Agreed, anything - a football club, your house, car, or something you're selling on eBay is only worth what someone is willing to pay. Other clubs - some already mentioned in the thread - have attracted buyers so clearly he's overvalued the club/Bristol Sport.

It must be an ego thing, with a nett worth of over £1 billion whatever he gets won't affect him or his family or his grandchildren who will still have enough to enjoy a very privileged life, and given he appears disillusioned with elements of football club ownership, and his son's unwillingness to take it forward in the longer term..........why not lower the price and move on??

Finding it difficult to join in this love-in for Alex Scott, sorry if that sounds harsh but to me it's like wishing your ex-wife well after she has left you for a bloke uglier than you who had a few bob, whilst you had to carry on working in Aldi.

Quite a detailed analogy there bud, in fact too detailed !! ........anyway hope your early Aldi shift has gone well 🙂

  15. Unfortunately it looks like Cott's will be relegated for the first time in his management career. But to his credit he took on a club that were dead and buried and he has improved them but he hasn't any real quality to work with or enough time to turn it around. A lot of managers wouldn't have touched them but he has given it a go.

If he wants to stay I'm sure he'll put together a team to have a real go at getting back up - he has a great knowledge of every EFL player and he'll find a few good characters to turn them around.
