cellist
Hello reds My Dad, a life long City fan, passed away in December. I've been working through his collection of city programmes, books and other football magazines. Some really interesting/unusual finds - I had no idea we played Juventus in 1970. Anyone complaining about fixture congestion and long journeys for midweek away fixtures today clearly never had to deal with the anglo-scottish cup. Also found a 2006 academy handbook, with a team photo of the under 13s including a young Bobby Reid. I'm in the process of working out what to get rid of and what to keep, but if there is anything in the list below of interest to anyone then do get in touch and make me an offer. Likewise if anybody has any advice on good places to sell I'd be keen to hear from you. Cheers Football league review/league football. 7 complete binders + a few extras 1966-67 (missing 2, 4, 11, 17, 19, 21, 22, 24, 25, 31, 36). 2 copies of number 15 1967-68 volume 2 in binder, complete (written “Southampton-Newport” on no. 24 and “Darlington – Crewe” on no. 33!) 1968-69 volume 3 in binder, complete 1969-70 volume 4 in binder, complete 40A,40B, 40C, 40D, 401-436 1970-71 volume 5 in binder, complete 50A, 50B, 501-538 1971-72 volume 6 in binder complete, 60A, 60B, 601-638 1972-73 volume 7 in binder complete, 701-738 1973-74 volume 8 in binder complete, 80A, 80B, 801-834 1974-75 volume 9 901-917 Bristol City programmes 1966-67 all home programmes 1967-68 all home programmes 1967-68 25 away programmes 1968-69 23 home programmes 1969-70 24 home programmes including home friendly against Juventus 1969-70 25 away programmes 1970-71 27 home programmes, plus Jack Connor testimonial and England under-23 v GDR 1974-75 23 home programmes, plus mid season friendly v man city and 1794-75 handbook 1975-76 24 home programmes plus review of the season and an evening post promotion special after the 1-0 win v Portsmouth 1976-77 23 home programmes plus trevor tainton testimonial 1977-78 home programmes 1978-79 home programmes, including Paul Cheesley testimonial, friendlies v Malmo and Moscow Dynamo, 2x anglo-scottish cup 1979-80 26 home programmes including Gloucestershire professional cup final v Bristol Rovers, plus some anglo Scottish cup programmes Other City programmes 23x teamsheets from western league/reserve fixtures 1983-1985 10x programmes from western league games 1984/85 Away programmes from western league from same period: Barnstaple, Saltash United, Keynsham Town, Clevedon Town, Dawlish Town, Weston-super-mare, Mangotsfield United, Frome Town 1983-85 Various away programmes, anglo-scottish cup, friendlies, league cup programmes from 70s/80s/90s (one small binder). ExiledAjax
@cellist suggest you speak to the Supporters Club & Trust as well as posting on here. Club & SC&T are putting together some pretty good archives at the moment and collections such as yours might help to plug some gaps. I believe they largely have a programme/team sheet from every match we've ever played, and certainly stuff from the 60's onwards is pretty much covered, but stuff like the Shoot magazines or the 2006 academy handbook might be something that no-one else has thought to collect and so could be of interest and value. They probably won't buy stuff from you, but would likely want to borrow things, digitise them, and then return them to you. If you're willing to help build up an archive of the history of the Club then you can contact them using the details here https://www.bristolcitysupporters.org/contact/ Alternatively @shahanshahan or @Blagdon red should be able to help you if you DM them.

Fortunately for me I am still here; just brings back the memories of those heady days at the footie for me, I would just say take your time in sorting these progs out, just remember when they are gone they are gone. What ever value there is in those you dont want will prob only increase as time goes by, so as said take your time, Maybe in the future your children or your childrens children could be gratefull for you keeping all your dads collection, anyway dont rush. cellist
Thanks. It's been good looking through them seeing some of the games and players he mentioned to me over the years. I'm keeping the ones of personal significance - ticket stubs from the first one he took me to in 1999, and the last one in 2019. Two wins - a lot of defeats in between!
