City programmes and books

Hello reds

My Dad, a life long City fan, passed away in December.

I've been working through his collection of city programmes, books and other football magazines. Some really interesting/unusual finds - I had no idea we played Juventus in 1970. Anyone complaining about fixture congestion and long journeys for midweek away fixtures today clearly never had to deal with the anglo-scottish cup. Also found a 2006 academy handbook, with a team photo of the under 13s including a young Bobby Reid.

I'm in the process of working out what to get rid of and what to keep, but if there is anything in the list below of interest to anyone then do get in touch and make me an offer. Likewise if anybody has any advice on good places to sell I'd be keen to hear from you.

Cheers

@cellist suggest you speak to the Supporters Club & Trust as well as posting on here. Club & SC&T are putting together some pretty good archives at the moment and collections such as yours might help to plug some gaps.

I believe they largely have a programme/team sheet from every match we've ever played, and certainly stuff from the 60's onwards is pretty much covered, but stuff like the Shoot magazines or the 2006 academy handbook might be something that no-one else has thought to collect and so could be of interest and value.

They probably won't buy stuff from you, but would likely want to borrow things, digitise them, and then return them to you. If you're willing to help build up an archive of the history of the Club then you can contact them using the details here https://www.bristolcitysupporters.org/contact/

Alternatively @shahanshahan or @Blagdon red should be able to help you if you DM them.

Sad to hear of your dad passing, seems we were both at most of those very games over those very years collecting progs, have 2 suitcases full.

Fortunately for me I am still here; just brings back the memories of those heady days at the footie for me, I would just say take your time in sorting these progs out, just remember when they are gone they are gone. What ever value there is in those you dont want will prob only increase as time goes by, so as said take your time,

Maybe in the future your children or your childrens children could be gratefull for you keeping all your dads collection, anyway dont rush.

Thanks. It's been good looking through them seeing some of the games and players he mentioned to me over the years. I'm keeping the ones of personal significance - ticket stubs from the first one he took me to in 1999, and the last one in 2019. Two wins - a lot of defeats in between!
