Struggled the first two seasons didn’t he? From what people have said on here they have spent a fortune to get up into the championship, then a bit more on top to get into the prem riding that wave of momentum.

Ashton and Werhun were not the issue were they. Do you really think he appointed LJ? No chance! The Johnson family obsession is what cost us. We should have stopped being stubborn over the Palace semi final in 2008 and appointed Warnock in 2016. We would have gone up.

At least one relegated club ain’t going up!

Big repercussions for Leeds and Southampton if they don’t go up.  Suspect Martin will lose his job.

    Norwich last season of PPs.

West Brom’s PPs finished last season.

Hull the outsider, their PPs finished years ago!

Are you that convinced on Martin going? Saints fans really like him and with assets they can sell they will be active in market this summer.

    Fair.

Some of our best performances have come with him in the side, he isn't yet too old- the experience and knowhow, leadership is also (IMO) invaluable.

Personally we should I think make a big play to keep him and Williams.

Should be kept, we need a squad and experience is key. Why break it up? Sooner shift wages of Cornick.

I don't see any way Tommy signs a new deal, he's an ambitious lad and all he'd do by re-signing here would be potentially preventing himself getting a bigger move, a good season next season isn't a guarantee whereas being OOC next summer or getting a move this summer gets him that opportunity.

What do we get for Tommy realistically? £7M? Can’t see much more with 12 months left.

We will sign him but it will be an undisclosed fee

We will also spend big on a striker and if TC is sold then that nett’s off some of the outlay

This whole two attacking players is all we need thing is worrying me. We certainly need more to bridge the 10 point gap to top six, still think we need a Semenyo/Ogbene type wide player who can destroy teams with pace and power/direct running in behind, we have nobody who can do that, a powerful physical pacy striker, ACM minimum plus I would consider the Rotherham keeper Johansen.

Both of these things are true. There would have been some sort of end of season statement at some point, but a little form helps the timing no end!

The last JL statement was self damning and I suspect lessons have been learned. But anyone sensible still takes your point. However the last one was so awful the damnation was earned. This one was much better!

SL appears to have effectively handed the running of the club to Jon. I don’t expect anything from Steve until such a time as we get promoted or sold!

Pre recorded to be safe and sure. What a shame we cannot do a live phone in and on the spot transparency. Does worry me.

To be honest why did he say it? It’s not as if they have been even close to appointing someone!

Dreadful. Finishing on a par with us, Nunez is shocking!

Vintage Sunday afternoon entertainment that. Do feel for Coventry - went through the emotional wrangle about 10 times today.

It was the most Bristol City thing to happen wasn’t it. Felt for them, United have big problems, I am surprised the new owners haven’t made the change yet. They need De Zerbi.

Not sure what his best position is Dave carrying a bit of beef to get down the flanks maybe stick him in midfield as were by far not big spenders i wouldave been looking elsewhere but we will see .

Been poor in my view but respect he had a terrible injury early on and missed a huge chunk of season. I personally don’t want to go for players from the SPL moving forward. Always flatter to deceive at this level for us. Average league.

  11. Believe Steve reads the forum from time to time (at least has hinted that way in the past). Therefore Steve if you see this please can you talk to the fans at the end of the season, we don’t want to hear from Tinnion, Manning, Jon, Marshall, we want to hear from you.

Where you see the club going, the investment in the women’s team (or perceived lack of taking opportunity in PL), backing the squad with summer investment, the performance levels from this season considering the board expectations of top six (as mentioned when Pearson was sacked). We need to hear from the top as many are waiving on renewing season tickets.

Beat Hull 5-0 weimann hat trick

    Plymouth 4-1

Exactly this and those wins were both thrilling and we created numerous chances. Unlike the Blackburn game.

Harsh, especially off the back of winning 5-0 at home (did we EVER batter a team at home like that under Pearson?) and solid albeit battling at time performances against Plymouth and Leicester..

I loved Pearson and was gutted to see him go as much as the next person but recent results and performances have given me hope that Manning can get things right. I've gone from fully wanting the bloke gone to being able to rationally look at it now and see small glimpses that he could be on to something.

Certainly not ideal though but it would be foolish to not remember that we were horrendously inconsistent under Pearson.

Performances and results? Are you joking? It’s been dire and scrappy!

  13. Great side and brilliant result that day….why? Good recruitment, a midfield that created chances and scored goals, a manager who inspired the fans and dressing room and most important kept it simple, no square pegs in round holes, no clubs in the bags PR rubbish, no need for these modern head coaches who are over complicating an easy game if I’m honest!

  14. I don’t get the Twine thing or what Manning is trying to do. Arsenal don’t play Odegaard in a 3, Man City don’t do it with KDB, United don’t do it with Fernandes….arguably the three best creative midfielders in the PL, that is the terminology here, it is an attacking MIDFIELDER we need.

A number 10 is a Dennis Bergkamp type. If we can get the right creative attacking mid who can play in front of say Bird and Knight next season it will surely improve our supply to the forward line which in my view requires at least two if not three signings in the front 3, not number 10’s, pacy wide players like Semenyo who will get you off your seat and create chances/goals, plus a powerful forward.

We are so dull to watch in final third, nothing gets you off your seat in BS3.

    Seriously?

Yes I am being very serious and I note others on here have said the same. That Blackburn win was the least exciting 5.0 in the club history, we were average and gifted the game through error after error from them. Majority of second half was fall asleep mode. We’ve played much better this season like Stoke at home under Nige where we played them off the park and somehow lost.

I'm probably in a minority here but I think the 'style' was dictated by the available defenders, and the fact that Max was virtually playing on one leg after about 20 minutes! I saw the team and thought that it was going to be a back 4. I don't see the fuss about Twine and I can't see us parting with the reported fee for him.

I'm pleased we got a draw out of it really, and not having Vyner or Dickie or Atkinson available we achieved a reasonable result.

3 at the back is the way to go. We are dreadful in a 4. I hope they have a good plan for the summer because it really is a critical period for the club. Another mid table season of dire football and I don’t think many will bother turning up again. City fans want to see good football played a pace with width and edge of your seat play, the only time I get off my seat is to get a beer at HT.
