Apparently depends which measurements you use. I have always understood we were the 6th largest in England (not UK) but looking at this site, it appears we  could be anywhere from 7th to 10th and in one of the measurements used we don't even get in the top 10 (but that one is for the UK).

But but but Bristol is the biggest and bestest city in the world and should be guaranteed a premier league team// OTIB

Trashcan Gate/Trashton Gate has been used to describe your stadium for years. Yes, it is about as relevant now as us being called Gasheads, over 25 years after leaving Eastville - some things just stick.

Thanks for your comment on my mentality, although it has been assesed by people far more qualified than you.

You've never had a better stadium than us #gaslogic

I to am a life long City supporter as many of us are but as I posted earlier in this thread I have no interest in the Gas or in slagging them off in this forum.

Thats not to say that I don't enjoy "debating" with some of the gasheads I know.  It's banter and always a laugh. No-one takes it seriously.

A mate of mine passed away earlier this year - a dedicted Gashead and season ticket holder at the Mem. He had three sons and one of them did his eulogy at the graveside. He mentioned that his dad had three sons and said "he brought two us the right way"  a tongue in cheek remark that his older brother is a City fan.....there was a chuckle at the gravesite. and lots of smiles even on a such a sad day.

How anyone can claim to "hate" the gasheads is simply ludicrous in my view.

"It's banter and a laugh. No one takes it seriously"

Sounds quite a lot like this thread. That the 'reasonable' gasheads are made to feel relatively welcome on a City forum and aren't immediately banned (unlike elsewhere) shows a huge amount of maturity IMHO

Economics for you don,t work then, as for best striker you are correct, shame he never played for the team, we will miss him, but we got more just waiting to piss you off waiting in the wings, cos you pricks always look for our results before you look at your own........gas logic

To be fair they have to scroll through a lot of proper leagues to get down to whatever piss pot league they play in these days so will always see us first. ALWAYS

    To be more precise:

Beaten by Scunthorpe, who were on the verge of the playoffs last season.

Beaten by Bolton, who were two divisions above us in May.

Beat Oxford, who finished above us and were tipped to do well in L1.

Beat Cardiff.  Your rivals, who do better than you.

    Not brilliant, but not bad.

And as for calling 9,000 in League 1 "pathetic", the vast majority of clubs in that league would bite your hand off for an attendance like that.

I'm not trying to big us up, but just hoping that some more reasonable posters on here might see that what we have achieved in the past two years is actually pretty impressive.  We're not going to storm League 1 as you did, but to be where we are now compared to May 2014 is something to be a little "prowed" of.

You got relegated out of the football league, absolutely pathetic for the club with the best fans in the country. Clawing your way back into the league and then scraping your way out of league 2 by the skin of your teeth is about even par I would say. Perhaps quietly content with being back where you started is appropriate as opposed to proud, sorry prowed

Mansfield??? What happened against Mansfield?

I'm with Danny on this one, there is no way he's a gashed. Articulate, sensible, passionate and seems to have a plan. Please don't let him near the boardroom/boardtent at the men.

The boardroom is one of those little compartments you get for the kids to sleep in. Be fair to em, it's a big tent!

Please, please, please can these lot beat Cardiff on Thursday (not impossible) and please, please let us play them in the second round at the gate.

Let's show these lot what a real owner with real money can achieve with regards to the building of a new stadium.

Little Lee, play a strong team. It doesn't matter how many facebook likes you get, who gives a **** about that. Let's put 3 or 4 past them and remind them of their place in Bristol football on and off the pitch

Why bother? We beat them relatively easily a couple of seasons ago, we have consistently been the best side for over a decade, we have nothing to prove and only a fan riot/ injuries/ suspensions to gain. If they are ever in the same league as us again the. We have something to prove and a genuine rivalry again. Until then they have a tent and a fake sheik...

I agree with Danny ... Progress is progress .. I still can't believe we went up twice in a row !! .. Our new owner sasaid from the start evolution not revolution as regards the club .. if he'd had spent absolutely crazy money you lot would've took the piss .. and just because he's trying to build gradually you still take it anyways! ! .. And I won't ever criticise our club when they are trying their hardest to make life better for their fans no matter how small the improvements. . Onwards We Go !! I don't care if it's a tent .. it's cover and extra seating !!

When will the Gas evolve into single celled organisms? At the moment they are some sort of bacterial slime??

I am regularly critical of the club.  Many many things needed to improve.  Many things have, others are WIP, others we're yet to see if there's any action behind the words.  The jury is out.  But in the meantime a genuine "fan" would counterbalance the constant criticism and enjoy some (relative) success as we all know it doesn't come around very often does it?.  It's been a shitty decade (or more) - if this so-called fan can't at least glean a enjoy a small bit of enjoyment about 2 successive promotions given the alternative (a slow death in non-league) then what are they actually supporting?  What's the point!?

It's more a sense of pity I have - if the guy (or girl) is genuinely a fan then to be so constantly down, sniping and critical must be such a miserable existence hey?  To always see the negatives in everything? Even if (s)he wants better for his/her club as has been suggested can't (s)he see at least see that where we are today is considerably better than where we could have been 2 years on from Mansfield.  Yes, we're miles behind City and their Billionaire sugardaddy in terms of infrastructure and finance - most FL clubs don't have the benefit of that circumstance like City do..  But what does (s)he expect?

Yes, continue to challenge and question.  Absolutely.  But a true fan would also hold their hand up and say 'fair-do's, after Mansfield and Higgs' cock-ups with Sainsbury's I'm relatively happy where we are and that the club is not in short term risk of administration.  They're no fan at all.  I'm calling it here.  Why they would "pretend" to be on a rival fans forum is genuinely beyond me!

Haha you lost at billionaire sugar daddy!

  10. Congratulations to Rovers. Back to back promotions is tough at any level. Will be interesting to see how they get on next season. If they ever reach the championship I might start feeling threatened. Until then, well I literally can't name a single one of their players, which tells you how much I'm watching!

Exactly! So any rovers on here should get the same treatment apart from miah and in the net :shifty:

But they are so stupid and deluded it's hilarious. They literally have no ammunition and they still come on here with tripe. Let them come I say!

(mia and in the net excluded as they have IQs bordering on a lower City fan and it's possible that their parents aren't blood relations)

  12. I've just looked at the league 2 table for literally the first time this season and Rovers are 4th, about 10 points off the top. Now they might get promoted this season and fair play if they do but the way they go on about it you'd think they were already champions! Same as with everything to do with those lot
