  1. So which Harry Connick Jr song are we adapting for him then....?
  2. You raise a good point. It'd never work....my sister is a munter.
  3. Fans don't win promotion, players and managers do. Even if both sets of supporters accepted it 100% (they won't) we can only add 4k to our average attendance. That simply wouldn't change a bloody thing!
  4. Addressed on the post above. And I 100% agree it's a harsh call.
  5. It is harsh, but he just has such a dour demeanor and that's what got him on the list in the end!
  6. Colin and Penis in the same season?!? Excellent. Just Big Sam and Tony Mowbray to go and the dinosaurs are officially extinct!
  7. All that was sold as a benefit was a reward scheme "to be announced'. They could let everyone have a food voucher for half a stale doughnut and have technically fulfilled their the of the bargain...
  8. All great replies, still none of them changing my mind on Tinns. Another £9m (maybe) into the club today that may well not have come had we not bought him way back when. The ripple effect is massive.
  9. A few comments on the Harry Cornick thread about our best signings. £1.2m for Akinbiyi and £150k for Micky Bell were both top shouts. I felt it deserved its own thread. So who do you think would be our best in the last 40 years and why? Starter for 10. I agree with the above shouts, but for me Tinns for £180k is the best and most important signing we have made. It started a love affair between him and the club and area (and neighbour, but we'll not talk about that one!) that has endured. His importance to the club would never have been realised had we not signed him in the first place. A joy to watch on the pitch and now giving us so much more off it.
  10. Saw the heading "29 years ago today" and thought it was a thread on the last time we were given a penalty!
  11. You horrible bastard. Could've put a trigger warning on the link. Had to look at the smug snake oil salesman again....I've not long had lunch!!
  12. The scenario you highlight wouldn't happen, what with being outside of the transfer window and all, but why would it be ridiculous? What's the difference between signing on to play in a cup competition vs signing on to play in a league competition? Why should you be cup-tied, but not league tied? As for Saturdays match, if he doesn't bring Dasilva in then I wonder if he might push Naismith out there. It's not an unfamiliar position to him and it'll allow Williams to come in for a start. And I would say that Sammy starts irrespective of the status of Semenyos move at the time.
  13. In terms of the current squad I'll throw Nakhi Wells into the mix. He worked so bloody hard to get himself into favour, requesting to be played in the u23's etc to showcase what he still had in him. He almost always comes off absolutely knackered from the work he's put in on the pitch as well.
  14. Nice to see he has his own chant...I was half expecting Martyn Woolfords chant to be repurposed... "He used to be shite, but now he's alright, walking in a Woolford wonderland"! Naismith and James have given Zak an awful lot to do. Both Dack and Morton just sneak past the pair of them with neither of them reacting quick enough (in Naismiths case) or at all (James - who appears in the area after the goal has been scored. It is a little harsh as Zak had to cover both Dack and the space that Morton was carrying the ball into after getting past Naismith. If he covers Dack he leaves Morton with a free run on goal. If he covers Morton then he leaves Dack free. He tried to cover both and as a result was left a little flat footed.
  15. When? I genuinely can't remember when that last occurred. Ummmm.... He was born in Southwark, London.... (Though I admit I was surprised when I found that out today!) I disagree that he's proved his doubters wrong and I disagree that the criticism he was on the receiving end of was unjustified. He's simply been a very poor player in a poor team. On the evidence that was put before us there wasn't a championship footballer on show there. What he has done though is work bloody hard to improve on what he offered before this season. He's been fortunate that we were so knackered in defence with injuries that he was given a 25th chance. But bloody hell hasn't he ever taken that chance! By far and away the player of the season and now looks like a proper Championship defender. I'm glad that the majority of the supporters are finally accepting the turnaround, because until recently any little mistake he made this season was met with louder groans than for anyone else. There seems to have been a well deserved culture shift since the turn of the year. Zak Vyner, take a bow, son.
  16. More a job for Dante, but I'll happily come along as his assistant again!
  17. The one thing our under 11's captain lacked was the confidence to use his left peg. I kept on at him for ages about using it and the penny finally dropped when he scored a daisycutter with it from just outside the area. Adds another dimension to his game and like you say it allows the ball to be moved out a lot quicker.
  18. Add it to the list of songs that don't make sense in singing. Up there with "How shit must you be, we're winning at home" in the middle of our best performance for some time. Almost like telling the players they think they're shit, but it's ok because the opposition are shitter!
  19. Oh, I don't know.....Tins moved central in his advancing years..... Now that right peg was only ever used for standing on. Great minds! ?
  20. Without upsetting anyone.... except elderly or less abled supporters who bought a season ticket there safe in the knowledge that they would be able to see the match as the club wouldn't allow people to stand and block their view.
  21. His only hope of another job in football is if Barton leaves Rovers. Talk about a match made in heaven.
  22. @sinenomineand I were saying on Saturday about that match being his Louis Carey moment when he really came of age. Carey's came with an injury to Shaun Taylor forcing him to take the lead. Decision making and focus was always Zaks biggest downfall and he had at least 1 or more errors in him every game; many times costly. He's sorted that this season and fair play to him. He was so far off the bus the bus was just a dot in the distance. Injuries forced us to play him and that proved to be a defining moment for his career. Very, very impressed this season and fair play to him for turning it around. Unfortunately many fans are stubborn in their view. They have made their minds up about him and won't be turned on it. It's notable that a mistake from Zak is still more audibly reacted to by the crowd than many other players, which is very unfair.
  23. At least we should have a song ready for him. Nice and easy to adapt his dads song. Maybe even adding a third verse of "Thank You Mickey Bell" etc. Father and son honoured in the same song.
  24. I certainly was never subjected to a pat down before going through the turnstile....seems even then some stewards were doing their jobs while others couldn't be bothered I guess. Thanks for clarifying though and hope the health has been good post 2016!
