  1. Depends on whether or not this is as regular an occurrence for them as it was for us last season I guess. I can't recall us being fined, but if we were then it will have been for multiple infractions I'm sure. When and where were you a steward? I've certainly never been subjected to that at the Gate and my wife, who was a steward for about 5 years until 2011 didn't have to perform that sort of search at all.
  2. That's going to be part of the blocker. People paying Dolman Stand prices being prevented from sitting in their seats by people paying South Stand prices. The club probably won't be bending over backwards to appease them any more. Wanted cheaper tickets and got them (no idea if that's still the case though). Wanted rail seating and got them. Moving to another part of the ground following this install and turfing out long term STH's? I'm not seeing the club being too enthusiastic about it. And if they do go for it, then those that make the move should expect to pay Dolman Stand prices for their tickets. The noise wasn't travelling too far and S82 seemed a lot louder from S20. Acoustics being the obvious reason. No doubt it did seem much louder to the B-Block and away fans though.
  3. He plays a similar role to Lee Johnson. Unfortunately that's a thankless task for many in the crowd. He's noticed when he's not there doing the things that some don't notice him doing when he is there! I still maintain that had LJ not gotten injured in the Watford game in that play-off season then we would not have needed the play-offs in the first place. He left Marv free to do what he did, much as James does for Alex Scott. When he was out of the side our form tanked and we were 45 mins away from automatic (away at Stoke) rather than play-off heartache. We'd have been over the line before the Stoke game imo. Long story short, he plays a role that is unappreciated or unnoticed by many and will be one of those who divides the fan base for years to come I'm sure.
  4. All those talk of penalties.... We all know full well that when we finally get one we'llmiss!
  5. What are we realistically expecting clubs to stump up for each player? Pointless saying £30m for the two, as I'm sure Guernsey may have a say in things if there's a sell on....not sure if that's the case though.
  6. That was what I meant. It was reported that his intention was not to use the academy - something supported by his reluctance to use youth at Brighton as well.
  7. This won't happen, it's as simple as that. If we change manager there is no way we would appoint one who didn't buy into the club philosophy. If the reports on Hughton are to be believed he talked himself out of the running when the fantastic human got the job.
  8. It was twitter....he didn't come on here! That said - highly irregular, but whether or not this is authorised by Nige will be indicated by whether or not the tweets remain without being deleted.
  9. Good to see you're trying to be a little more thorough these days, Giles23....
  10. In fairness he could have switched the system away from 3 at the back to a more conventional 4-4-2/4-3-3/4-5-1 with Tanner, Vyner, Pring and Dasilva at the back. King could have been played as an anchor man to protect the defence a little. Ideal? Nope, far from it. However, it will at least have had round pegs in round holes. There were options.
  11. There lies a good point in that there aren't many/any players sticking their head above the parapet at the moment. One of our biggest issues is that we don't seem to have the odd player having an off day. When that happens, we usually have 7 or 8 having a 5/10 (at best) match. Those that still perform can't carry that many. Other clubs seem to have only 1 or 2 at any one time. Again though, that's down to NP and the coaching.. For the moment I'm still in the NP in camp, but I'm beginning to edge towards the other camp.
  12. Hey Jerry, Is there an update on this? It's ridiculous that we're heading for a year since this seasons prices were announced and still no benefits available. All the shop say is that funds will be credited to the cards when announced but there's still radio silence. "By the end of the month" is all they are ever able to say, whatever month they're asked in. Given the lack of stock available at the shop, by the time it's sorted there'll be little to choose from. Given that the system that will supposedly be offered is the same as the last several seasons, I struggle to see why this is not in place - the system is obviously available, so what is the delay?
  13. Possibly - I'm with EE and the service is shaky at the ground. Definitely noticed an improvement in the wifi though.
  14. That's also up for debate to be honest. Eliasson is plying his trade in Greece, Nagy in Serie B and Benkovic in Bundesliga 2. I'd argue that none of those are on a par with the Championship.
  15. Re the wifi, they have recently upgraded it and I now get wifi 6 signal in the ground. It's not perfect, and you have to bear in mind that you've potentially got 10000+ trying to access it at the same time, but it is a massive improvement on what it was. That said, half time scores were always a good time filler for half time, so I don't see why they're no longer read out.
  16. I'll give you a moment to process what you've just said and find the flaw in your thinking.
  17. I hope someone has told the fanbase that they have acquired an outstanding human....And in fairness, they actually have. I wish him all the luck in the world.
  18. "Awful manager with a crap style of play" How the bloody hell would they know anything about his management capabilities and style of play?!?
  19. It depends what he sees as his priorities for the future after he retires. This could be a good stepping stone for him if he sees a future in coaching. I agree he could have a few more years and I'd like for at least one of those years to be with us. I don't see him dropping down the leagues just yet (unless it's with us!). I would certainly hope we could rival wages offered by league 1 clubs. I guess at the end of the day, none of know what the club or player are thinking.
  20. I would like to see a player coach role offered to Wells. He put himself forward for u23 duty to help the kids and himself and one look at TC this season shows the impact he's had. With no transfer fee involved though and him proving that he can still cut it in this division, he may well seek one final payday before retiring. With no fee, any Championship club would be able to put some of the transfer budget into his wages, so this may prove an issue for us in convincing him to stay.
  21. A couple of things here...... Massengo, at £2m wasn't a bad investment. He had the potential to increase in value well above that. It was a calculated risk that didn't pay off, but it was no Kasey Palmer and it was one who, at the time, we could afford to take a punt on. Kalas hasn't proved a massive success since signing permanently, but that's down to management over the last few years. The injury is unfortunate though and could not have been foreseen. As for the money paid, we paid an ambitious, and yes, somewhat naïve amount, but at a time, when prices for players were going up massively. Covid has made the deal less value for money as the transfer market crashed because of it. Again, this could not have been foreseen at the time. £8m feels too much, especially for a club of our size, but there weren't many dissenting voices around about that at the time. I would say that this shouldn't have a massive bearing. Again, as with Kalas, we couldn't foresee what injuries Bakes would get and what it would force him into. They were impact injuries that could happen to any signing at any time. TK, being a long term muscular problem may make us more wary, but I don't think what happened to Bakes would, or indeed should do so.
  22. Although it's true that we only have ourselves to blame for not getting anything from today, the ref did play a part in their winner, not to mention the customary mannequin with a flag. We had possession in the corner and there was what looked like a clear foul on Wells, from which they broke and scored. Of course we had plenty of opportunities to stop them scoring after the foul, but the fact still remains that we probably should've had a free kick instead. I'd say my biggest bugbear with referees at the moment though is that they aren't protecting players who are jumping for a ball and being clattered in mid air with the only intention being to play the man. It's so dangerous, but I've noticed this repeatedly over the last few games for us.
