Going to be a nightmare for our 2022 Champions League defense ;)

Don't talk utter rubbish.  We couldn't win the Champions league untill 2022, so cannot defend it in that year.  It'll be 2023.  Some people come out with utter rubbish! :D

In terms of playing behind closed doors and streaming them.  At least one person said the quality of the match was high, but was weird due to no crowd.  How would people feel about canned crowd noises in those circumstances?  Would that make it more palatable? (or maybe rather less unpalatable?).

So only 319 people are infected

The number who think they have it or are being tested is irrelevant.

    Let's deal in FACTS

    Absolutely.

My point was more that to reduce it to 300 out of 67m is very dismissive.

The sensible approach is to be cautious, but not worried; but also not complacent.  Seems to me that there seems to be two extremes of views and very little in-between.  We're either all going to die, or no-one is going to be a risk!

Two games ago it was 19 points between them.

Tranmere have won their last two games, both away from home -  if they win the next two, and the Pikeys lose, thats 7 points with a game in hand for Tranmere.

Hopefully, Tranmere and others around them find a bit of form.

Don't get me wrong - I would loooooove for it to happen.....  I just can't realistically see it!

There's VERY good reason why these checks are not in place and not required, sadly common sense has massively gone out of the window due to the constant bombardment of updates on the virus.

Sky were almost tweeting hourly every time another case was found yesterday

At present 319 cases CONFIRMED out of a population of 67 MILLION in the UK

Assume people realise that you are more likely to win the lottery

No personal offence to LB above but from reading the above you had NO CHANCE of catching the virus but due to the hysteria created by the press it made you doubt yourself. THIS is why there is so much widespread panic about

Again.....skewing facts by using unrelated figures.  Whilst it's not incorrect to say 319 cases confirmed out of a population of 67 million, the more accurate description of the fact is that it's actually 319 cases confirmed out of approximately 20,000 people tested.  It's like saying that if you were to hold a poll on here about whether you wanted Rovers to go bust and 100% of 50 voters said yes, then the Rovers fans would be able to say "yeah, but it's only 50 people out of 67 million in this country - everyone else obviously loves us"!

You're basically applying gas logic to your argument!

    It could be close.

    Last 15 league games;

    Won 1, Drawn 5, lost 9

    For 7 against 24

Carry that on till the end of the season and they could be in bigger trouble than they undoubtedly are now.

13 points and a 12 goal swing would be one hell of a turnaround....and that's assuming that everyone between the slags and Tranmere also fails to pick up any points.  Coughlan did enough before he left to ensure they won't go down.  Garner has done enough since he joined to ensure they won't go up either!

I agree with this. I'm surprised that people are not being scanned at airports and that the threshold for self-isolation is set higher than I would expect but I don't know the science and, whilst it may be that we are failing to do things that would help restrict the spread, it may also be that some measures simply aren't as effective as they appear. For example, I don't know whether the screening is effective before people come symptomatic and, if not, the logic may be that it does not make sense to falsely reassure people they are not ill when they still could be.

I had a bit of a scare last week - in short, it turned out I had been in a room with someone who may have been in the same workplace as someone who was confirmed to have Coronavirus. I rang the Public Health England line for guidance and was basically told that the risk of infection is very low unless you've had someone coughing and spluttering in your very direct vicinity for ten minutes or more, and I read earlier there is little evidence that people are transmitting the disease during the incubation period. Obviously expert opinions differ depending on where you read them but, even though this illness infects more people than flu, the average person is infecting around 2 other people. That is not a small number but, when you think how many people each of us come into contact with every day, it shows that even people with the illness are infecting a tiny fraction of the people they come into contact with. So vigilance is important but the chances of being infected on public transport or at an event are still very low and the vast majority of people will be infected by friends or family members.

The sad reality is that there just isn't enough data yet for anyone to even be an expert on this strain...  let alone have an expert opinion.

Any Holloway demand will seem mightily insignificant if Garner takes them down. He is doing a mighty fine job of it thus far.

But they said they wanted to 'kick on' remember? A football brain like yours should remember such a detail.

No new manager coming in soon then. He will have to clean those toilets much faster in order to take in training and be in the tented dug out for match days not to mention running back to the kitchen to serve the half time refreshments and get the washing on before bed time.

That certainly won't be happening this year, so I guess the hope for Wally is that he himself will be rid of the club before it gets to that level.

Well that is the percentage of the UK that has had the virus so far as I understand it. About 170-odd cases.

The flaw in your logic there Dave is that your completely made up figure could only possibly be considered accurate if the entire population had been tested.  As it stands, we're looking at approximately 300 out of 20,000 tested have had positive results.  Meaning that it's actually showing at around 1.5% infection.   With the greatest of respect, if you're going to throw figures round at least consider the context first.

  9. I thought I'd read that adding the womens matches to the Gate full time would impact the already well used pitch.  The same with the U23's.  Failand would seem to be the logical place when the training ground is built, but it's not really the most accessible for supporters, which is where SGS has a massive advantage.

The fear being that if they do keep him and they somehow manage to get promoted, there isn't enough money available to sustain Championship football. For example, the ground needing to be all seater in 3 years.

This won't be an issue.  B&Q are always having sales on white plastic garden chairs...

Have we got a partnership with Total Produce?

Bristol Sport do....and have done for some time it looks like.  The announced deal they were on about was a renewal of the partnership where they supply fresh produce to the Bears and Flyers.  But we all know the Sags don't like to let little things like facts get in the way of anything.

Theres an interesting piece by Kevin Phillips where he explains that Stoke gave some players Bauer and Allen incl new contracts on relegation to stop them pushing to leave , as said players were very unhappy that their wages were due to drop due to relegation clauses !

Well if they'd done their jobs better they wouldn't have been relegated!

In my opinion, football won't change its ways in this country until parachute payments are abolished.  Then proper management of mid-level clubs will have to happen.  That includes promotion pay boosts and relegation pay cuts in all contracts to ensure that should the drop occur, they can still manage financially.

Until this happens, clubs will continue to financially mismanage themselves.  Yes, it creates a divide at the top of the prem and makes breaking into it difficult, but Leicester managed it well enough, so it's not impossible.

Oh, and did you see England U21 Internationals at AG? Along with Premiership Rugby?

Did you see Liam Kelly go to Bournemouth? Or Joe Bryan to Fulham? Or Bobby Reid to Cardiff?

    Still thinking...?

If you're gonna take the piss at last keep it relevant and accurate.  Premiership rugby has no bearing on Bristol City, and it was Lloyd Kelly we sold to Bournemouth,  not Liam.  Selling players to Cardiff and Fulham isn't a massive shouting point either to be honest.

They've given us so much over the years.  Let's at least rub the good stuff in!

Rest of your points spot on though BR. ??
