  1. I feel for him. I did mine (again) while out walking the dog recently. Fortunately, Nigel Pearson and City do not depend on my footballing services!
  2. I'm a big fan too. One of the things I liked about the band was they were very unusual in daring to sing in a West Country accent. Without having to do The Wurzels' "comedy farmer" routine.
  3. Only team named after an orangutan...
  4. I'm not sure where this story comes from, but it has several flaws. Three Lions ISN'T England's "official song" - we don't have an "official" song. Also in all the usual suspects printing this story, there is not a single quote from the FA to stand it up. Ultimately, even if it were true, how could the FA ever be able to stop fans singing a song? I'm calling this story utter bollards.
  5. Mine's Ross County. The little team who consistently overachieve.
  6. Read about Turkish fans reputation and ours seem angelic by comparison...
  7. Good luck ITN. As you say, treatment options and survivability rates have soared in recent years. Hopefully for you, as it was for me, it'll be nowt more than a temporary bloody nuisance. And a reminder to enjoy the life we have.
  8. As shit as he was here, he went on to play in the French top flight and has played in the Champions League for Red Star Belgrade. I think he just never settled in Bristol and perhaps didn't really want to come in the first place. He never looked particularly committed.
  9. TBH it wasn't the pitch invasion per se that spoilt it, it was the behaviour of certain fans that left a sour taste. Let the players go to all three home stands to take the applause and do not get in their faces with your entitled demands for selfies, autographs, shirts etc.
  10. Maybe the club shouldn't do it then? Personally, I quite like giving the team one last clap before not seeing them for months (or forever, in some cases) and watching them take their kids with them reminds us all of how they aren't just "our" players, but human beings with their own lives and concerns, just like everyone. I think the invasion was inevitable given how the game panned out, but the OP was right, there were some right muppets involved. A bloke with a kid on his shoulders continually harassing Massengo, other players having pissheads encroach their personal space, stewards having to grapple with fans on what should have been a happy day. It got a bit ugly.
  11. I think it helped that Hull had such a terrible midfield. Their Lenny Bennet lookalike #10 (Honeyman) was a headless chicken, while their #6 (Smallwood) was just a thug. But you can only play who is in front of you, and James and Williams, like the entire squad, did an outstanding job at exposing their opponent's weakness. We were ruthless, which is something you just love to see.
  12. How strange. I thought C4 couldn't compete with the big terrestrial services according to Mad Nad, but here it is outbidding them for games that will attract significant advertising revenue. It's almost as if the channel wasn't making a net £74m contribution to government revenue last year...
  13. Yup. "Loyal and true". It's what they do.
  14. Well said, Noggers. I welcome City's fans from abroad. All part of the Reds' big family. If their use of English isn't perfect, that's understandable, could many of us post on a foreign-language football forum? They may not have the most coherent critique of on-pitch matters because they aren't able to catch many live games over here, again that's understandable. But their support is always welcome and I hope my post gave @Mihai some idea of where I see City next season.
  15. What they mean by that Gert is they expect the engine of their Y-reg Escort to give out on the M4 and they can then regale their mates in Fishponds about how they were part of the "100,000 locked out".
  16. Because of childcare issues I rarely attend away games these days, but I'd certainly make an exception for my inaugural visit to Goodison Park. Would hopefully stay and enjoy an evening out in the 'Pool.
  17. Most of the home games have actually been quite entertaining. We've played some really good football at times, but consistency has eluded us and we've given the ball away far too cheaply and often fell foul of last-minute defensive frailties. We don't seem to be anything like the sort of sides that we had in the past when we've finished in such a lowly position: packed with players who don't want to be here or, frankly, without the ability to compete in the Championship. Finances are a challenge, but with a few clever tweaks I think Nige could land us a happier season in22/23 even if we don't threaten the Top 6 much. I'm more optimistic than I was this time last year. Up the City!
  18. We couldn't send a contractor to a job site abroad as he's been waiting for his passport since January. It seems something of a lottery as to whether your experience is like his, or like yours.
  19. The clip's from 1978 and he was on TOTP three times with PIL in 1979 and once as a [hilarious] guest on Juke Box Jury so if "banned" it was a rather short exile.
  20. You get real Fanta and the crisps are only a week out-of-date.
  21. This video is always being posted and I always point out that Lydon was never "banned" from the BBC, but appeared on it on dozens of subsequent occasions.
  22. "Stan the man". As probably no one called him...
  23. I agree with those that say the midfield is the real issue. We have some very talented players there, but no one who really breaks up opposition play. James and Williams, whose role that should really be, have been disappointing in that sense. I was thinking about how Gary Johnson took a fairly ordinary team of players to the play-off final in 2008 and the thing I remember in that season and others around it was how important Marvin Elliott was at occupying that space right in the middle of the park and preventing opponents running in on the defence from distance. Bradley Orr's defensive work from distance was great too, but it was Marv more often than not who could cut down opponents' options, slow down their attacks or totally neutralise them. No one would say Marv was the most "cultured" footballer out there and going forward, he was decent but not outstanding. However it was hard to just run past him, and that's what we need. We need a Marv.
