  1. I'd actually argue we are so shit at keeping it in the corner, we may as well have tried to attack the goal. You never know, they were throwing everything forward, we might have put the game out of their reach Normally on the 90th minute you try to keep the ball in the corner and await the series of throw-ins holding the game up. This is Bristol City though and our "game management" only buys us about 10 seconds.
  2. If Reach's goal was in the 85th minute and Weimann's in the 93td we'd all be chuffed to bits. At the end if the day, we more than matched a team with a big budget and promotion aspirations. It was scrappy in places, but we were 110% better than we were at Barnsley. I think most of the side had pretty good games. I don't think days like today make Pearson's departure any closer.
  3. I'm not aware he is, but of course morbid obesity is a health risk in itself.
  4. He was massive when he played for Torquay at the end of his career. Gave the Gulls an advantage as he took up one-third of the goalmouth.
  5. The fact that Dicksy was offered the financial director post tells you everything about how chaotic the admin of the club was at that time. Might as well have appointed Gerry Gow as club dentist.
  6. Everton fans should be thanking the protester. The extra time he caused allowed them to score their winner.
  7. I think he's listening to Hurt by Johnny Cash along with I Can't Stand Up For Falling Down by Elvis Costello.
  8. Well that's what Jody Morris says. I wonder what Derek McInnes's version of events would be?
  9. Not a player, but I'd add ex-Republic international Sean O'Driscoll into the nightmare mix...
  10. Yep. In partnership with Dick Cox and Nobby Plonker.
  11. Lives in Bedminster. ? Bedminster, New Jersey.
  12. The Sean O'Driscoll abject surrender to relegation technique.
  13. So you don't make a t--t of yourself making a false statement? Just a thought....
  14. He's managing AT Conference level, not below. The team that narrowly lost the Conference play-off last season. Do check before you make these assertions.
  15. Teams in the bottom three are more dangerous than any others about this time of the season. Teams like ours are going nowhere, lots of the teams aiming for a top 6 finish are nervous and bottle it. Bottom three clubs though play out of their skin. That said, my main gripe with Nigel Pearson is why the f- can't a former professional defender get our back line organised to defend corners.
  16. We're poor on the road and Barnsley are fighting for their lives. Not sure why anyone was surprised by that. ?
  17. Don't be afraid of emotion, VR. It sort of washes us of raw grief and lets us function. Facing it all as a close family unit and remembering everything Andrea was about and all those good times, will help you. On a personal level, I'm so sorry to hear your news. Cancer is so very cruel.
  18. The looting of state resources happened under Yeltsin. Everyone didn't get share certificates in them, as one poster here has suggested, they were just sold massively under market value to criminals. To stay an oligarch though you need to give Putin your support or you might find yourself suddenly suicided like Boris Berezhovsky.
  19. We need to sign some triple- and quadruple-barrellers. Maybe this bloke if he was good at football and not old - and not a ********. Richard Grosvenor Plunkett-Ernle-Erle-Drax https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Drax
  20. A little bit more here on how Abramovich used crooked deals and criminal connections to emerge victorious from Russia's "aluminium wars", which killed an estimated 100 people. Also on how his connections to Putin allowed him to "acquire" assets from other oligarchs. https://www.europeanceo.com/profiles/oleg-deripaska-and-the-russian-aluminium-wars/
  21. Timewasting when you have a one goal lead can often rebound and bite you in the arse. Yet I have seen us (and visiting teams) do it frequently.
  22. I wonder if he played with some sort of protective headgear, the risk might be mitigated? Just a thought, as you do see it elsewhere. Seems quite common in MLS.
  23. The old rope-a-dope. Nige's instructions this morning at training: "OK lads, you can stop pretending you're mediocre. Second part of the plan starts now and I'm allowing you to dominate every match."
