  1. Is Phil Salt the first ever gog to play for England?
  2. I wasn't that impressed with Mugshot. I spoke to some people who were saying it was the "Pasture-slayer" i.e. even better than Pasture but definitely not for me. The chips are fantastic, I'll give them that. Cocktails were excellent too. But I didn't get on with the concept of cooking my own steak, at those prices I'd rather the chef did it - I know that was an option btw, so maybe my own fault. They forgot our asparagus dish too, and then when it arrived I thought the asparagus was undercooked and over-seasoned with too much salt. The menu is also very meat heavy, so it lacks a bit of choice. Find it a bit odd that they have a pizza menu alongside the steaks, and also they didn't push the dessert menu which I thought was a little odd. It wasn't bad, and I'd still go back, but it's not in the top echelon of Bristol restaurants just yet IMO.
  3. Was at the brilliant Peaness tonight at Rough Trade and they dedicated their last couple of songs to Jeff.
  4. He wasn't in the last chance saloon at all. Averaged nearly 50 in the Ashes (granted only played 4 innings) and only Root scored more runs than him in the Windies. Bairstow wasn't close to being dropped, and certainly won't be now.
  5. We'll find out how sustainable this is long-term but it's great to watch!
  6. Very strange decision not to give it Jimmy earlier. It's just about doable but is going to take some effort. Under Root we'd have not even attempted the chase....
  7. 25 partnership....frustrating. Big runs those for NZ
  8. Awful news. I last spoke to Jeff at Gruff Rhys' gig at Bath Komedia last November. He was typically all-knowledgeable, telling me about all the bands the drummer that night and been in and how good he was. Get well soon, Jeff.
  9. Completely confused; napping is neither weird, nor a hobby.
  10. Yep, get Mitchell/Blundell out today and it's on.
  11. Gotta love the aggression and positivity. Cracking Test this, all three results still very possible. 1-0 down NZ are going to need to be aggressive with the bat, which should give England opportunities.
  12. I would. Way better than anything else I've seen for a couple of years. Best session i can remember for a long time. From where we've come from, going into a third and final Test against NZ 1-0 up is improvement. As I said, still very early days though, and we have to make sure we see out this Test first...
  13. Still very early days, but we may be seeing the green shoots of recovery under McCullum. He has given the batting line-up a bit of much needed confidence. And we seem to be seeing an even better version of Joe Root.
  14. Guessing Taunton and Canterbury are quite similar pitches/conditions. Still, Wtf
  15. All LIV players have just been kicked off the PGA Tour, though most had resigned their membership anyway... I've mostly lost interest in golf post-Tiger years to be honest.
  16. Great first episode, the whole pizza box recycling thing cracked me up. Hopefully the rest of the series continues in a similar vein
  17. Richard Gould is credited with doing an excellent job building up Surrey CCC's membership, so would make sense.
  18. He picked him and played him, what makes you think he doesn't rate him?
  19. Never offside, quite clearly came off a German player. I was thinking, for the amount England fans moan, when was the last time we actually lost against Germany over there? Our record has been excellent since 2001. I've seen us win in Berlin twice, for starters.
  20. Can't claim to be an expert but that looks like a lot of padding and wrapping.
  21. They should temporarily scrap VAT on fuel until the issue is resolved. That said, from a climate emergency perspective, it's not a bad thing that people are thinking harder about making unnecessary trips, using public transport and driving slower to reduce fuel consumption.
  22. Not surprised to hear that. Following England in that same tournament, I witnessed loads of trouble. And right on queue... England: Seven fans arrested in Munich - three for making a Nazi salute - BBC Sport
  23. £12k pw. Ipswich did not pay well in this division, don't forget. Adam Webster was only on £4.5k per week when we signed him.
  24. Good afternoon Nice morning. Can we bat?
