  1. Five steps?! Behave. Naismith has slid in, and played the man not the ball, when the attacker is in a dangerous attacking position. His studs were up, and part of them above the attackers boot. It is entirely possibly it hurt the player, and if so, that can be interpreted as a foul. Look, he may well of taken a tumble, I just don't think it's anywhere near as clear cut as some of our fans are making out. Had there been no contact, I'd agree, no pen. But in this day and age, you make a clumsy tackle like that, you're asking for trouble. Proving he cheated when contact is made, with studs up, would be very difficult. Delayed reaction, or not.
  2. Naismith committed a foul for me. Slid in late, and made contact. Regards the "motivation of the attacking player", unfortunately it's difficult to say. Yes, he may have dived, or he may have genuinely had a delayed shot of pain up his ankle caused by Naismith's studs. The moment Naismith was late and made contact with the player, there was a big risk of giving away the penalty.
  3. Now we know where his fascination for guns came from
  4. Nearly 10% of the population of Sunderland have a season ticket.
  5. I assume you are merely proving @TonyTonyTony point here? Beef is disasterous for the environment. Farmed (king) prawns too. Simply buy British freshwater prawns instead. Proper brexit purchase! Slightly smaller, but cheaper, and just as tasty.
  6. Yet despite being asked repeatedly you can't say what you have actually achieved - weak, and pathetic. Thunberg has mobilised millions of school children to draw attention to their future plight. In comparison, you have achieved nothing. Zilch. Goodbye ?
  7. An easy decision for someone completely unable to back up the daft statements they've made. I can't blame you for retreating. Ciao
  8. Talk about putting words in my mouth. It doesn't have to be, but I'm sure your paranoid little mind is working overtime. You should read China's aggressive Green policy charter, enshrined in law, or acknowledge that Biden is trying to implement greener policies before you throw around ludicrous shit like "everyone else will be burning fossil fuels anyway". China cannot survive without green energy. Fact. And they have realised this. Also, fact. It became my business when you implied that you'd achieved something significant in your life, which was equal to - or greater than - what Thunberg has achieved. Please enlighten us? It's not like you're too modest, as you brought it up.... so come on, tell us. If it's something to be proud of, then don't be shy...
  9. You are completely uneducated on this subject. Literally completely illiterate. Earth is over 4 billion years old. Humans have inhabited earth for around 300,000 years. Which makes this comment make you look like you have never read a book, nor went to school: "The planet has survived countless climate cycles ... yet we are still here ..." Honestly one of the stupidest things I've ever read on this forum, and there has been a lot of competition over the years. Mind-blowing.
  10. Erm...yes. Thing is, despite the populist shite you hear from many Tory MPs, in the real world, large companies, civil institutions, and even national army's are doing lots to address climate change. The British Army, for example, recognise man-made climate change as a threat to the citizens of the United Kingdom. Climate change is already displacing millions in Africa and causing conflicts in regions on the continent. Climate change even played its part in both the Syrian and Afghan conflicts. Achieved more than Greta Thunberg, have you?! ? David Attenborough, the greatest living Briton in many people's eyes, has acknowledged that Greta Thunberg has advanced recognition of climate change far more than he has. Yet, old boy "BS4 on Tour" has apparently far greater achievements ?? Tell us what you have achieved in life, the floor is yours......
  11. Another middle-aged (or could be much older?) male struggling to come to terms with the fact an autistic 19 year old girl has already achieved far more in their life than you ever will...
  12. It's paranoia for libertarians, such as yourself, because as you say some fairly major aspects of your life will be restricted. If you think for a moment you'll be able to walk into a supermarket in 20 years time and buy some beef or chicken for a few quid, then you are very much mistaken. Even taking account of inflation. Anything that contributes significantly to CO2 emissions, soil degradation, or loss of biodiversity will be heavily taxed. Again, if you think you'll be able to order unrecyclable/electronic goods for a few quid off Amazon with next day delivery, you are sadly mistaken. Even things like car ownership may well become a thing of the past, for the majority. But then on the positive, for the price you would have paid for your car, you'll be able to afford a robot that'll be able to complete all of your household chores. They'll wash up, do your laundry, tidy your house etc. Freeing you up to do spend your time more wisely, doing things you actually enjoy that will make a difference. Instead of working in the job you hate, and a majority of UK workers are of course dissatisfied with their jobs. You may not think making sacrifices now to save the future is worth it. I'd comment that you have low self-esteem/respect for yourself AND your fellow higher primates. I think most of us that have successfully managed to reproduce take a very different view - that the future is worth saving, even if it means giving up some comforts we're used to.
  13. Worth investing in membership for £25 for City and Bears. London Irish game is £15 a ticket for Members...
  14. Yep, a lot of sacrifices are going to have to be made if we want a sustainable future for the planet. You can either choose to embrace it, and understand why it is happening. Or shit yourself, cry, and give up, launching us towards armageddon. I'm in the same camp as Elon Musk on this, whilst not agreeing with everything he says, a brighter future is possible. But we need to sort our shit out pretty soon. Like, now.
  15. A very paranoid bunch of people.
  16. Tough one, isn't it? On the one hand we have a huge body of evidence provided by thousands of scientists and meteorologists, showing that anthropogenic (man-made) climate change is happening. And on the other, we have some weather anecdotes from a couple of old blokes from Bristol. Tricky one to call.
  17. Exeter City were the first ever opponents of the Brazil national team, a game played in 1914.
  18. Then you are extraordinarily stupid, and your children will remember you as such. Pretty sure I saw you walking into a "plastic free" shop on North St a couple of weeks back anyway. That you?
  19. No, it was the spring, April and May when the weather was good. It certainly wasn't overly hot though. Last heatwave was 2018, England doing well in Russia at the world cup and we had a full 5 or 6 weeks or 25 degs +. Thankfully it never got too hot. Amazing how you can't remember that. We weren't even in lockdown in summer 2020.
  20. Lucky I wasn't in. If I'd seen you and your ******* peloton, I'd have mown you all down
  21. Neither the club nor Steve Lansdown own the houses behind the Atyeo, nor have they been trying to buy them up.
  22. Absolutely right on Africa. The war in Tigray is one of the deadliest on the planet right now, but barely gets a mention in western news. I suppose the west's lack of foreign intervention since 2012 is a wider discussion point, but it's always important to point out to the anti-war/intervention brigade that inaction has consequences too... leaving vacuums of power in the middle east and Africa has had deadly consequences.
  23. If you look at crime rates, violence, murder, terrorist attacks, wars, rape etc over the past few hundred years then you will find we are living in enlightened times, where crime is lower across the board. Not just locally (UK), but across the world. I would suggest reading two books: Factfulness by Hans Rosling and Enlightenment Now by Steven Pinker. One thing which is sadly true is that death from wars is increasing since 2012, after 80 years of that trend reversing. Many have suggested this is a result of the west leaving Iraq, Afghanistan etc and dictatorships once again taking over and causing carnage.
