  1. All about opinions of course, but in the last 2 month of the season, Atkinson for me came on leaps and bounds. He looked fitter, and stronger; and more adjusted to the demands of the Championship. I think it helped him having a vocal experienced CB in Klose playing alongside him. Cundy always gave 100%, but he was at times caught out positionally, and for pace. He looked leggy, and although in true HNM fashion he had "Potential", I don't see him progressing much with us in the medium to long term (hence the speculated 1 year contract offer). Good luck to him at Barnsley. If he's got a 3 year deal out of them, then fair play. I think L1 will probably suit him at this stage of his career. Better to be negotiating coming off 14 games in the Championship (A lot of them starting), then being let go from a Championship club with only a couple of appearances. The summer of 2023 will be a big period of change in the club with so many players being OOC. NP, and others obviously saw him as more of a stop gap defender until that time (hence the deal offered). Barnsley will of course be one of the contenders in L1 this season, so maybe he will get the opportunities to develop his game further with them.
  2. So through the Gas, and JB's extensive scouting network they've identified & signed a scouser from Fleetwood. Top work there. Jordan Rossiter: Bristol Rovers sign Fleetwood Town captain for undisclosed fee - BBC Sport
  3. Indeed, can you imagine the scenes at AG if/when HNM scores a goal? It would be like the Arsenal John Jensen celebrations. Followed by countless t-shirts saying "I was there, when Massengo scored"?
  4. A very reliable social media commentator on Transfers. Normally the one that gets closest to being 100% correct.
  5. That pass to Brownhill for the late late winner at home to Charlton will live long in the memory. There's definitely a player there. Let's see what Robins is able to achieve, as Cooper certainly couldn't.
  6. @Davefevs Dave, although you and I disagree on HNM, I actually have no problem on him staying per se. The issue is that we probably need to sell one of our 4 most sellable assets (Weimann, HNM, Scott & Semenyeo) in order to probably allay any potential FFP considerations allied to an upgrade of a squad that has struggled in the last two seasons. That allied to the fact that he appears to be reluctant (for whatever reason) to sign the new contract offered makes him for me the most dispensable asset of the above four. The perceived lack of development, whether that be offensively or defensively in my eyes; whilst still bearing in mind his "potential" means that after 3 years we are still hoping that "potential" will come through. Ultimately with Scott moving back into the centre next season, and another CDM rumoured to be on the agenda, what does choice does not make HNM; 4th or 5th at the very least. How many minutes will be actually get on the pitch? A bit like Wells last season. It all feels very similar to the COD situation of 3 years ago. We give a new contract to a player, who hasn't really done that much, but has "potential". Thinking of course that other clubs are going to be interested in buying him/he develops in such a way as to make the new contract a real investment. There are of course no guarantees with any player, and I will put my hand up over Semenyeo (I must have criticised him so much to @GrahamC over the years. But for me HNM is a fringe player now, and as such our contract offer to him probably reflects that.
  7. Bet Pearson was made up to see Bakinson back. ? No sign of Taylor Moore so far. So maybe something is getting sorted there as well.
  8. So the 8 (O)'s might disappear quickly after the 1st July then. I wonder how many of the remaining players will exercise their right to terminate their contracts if they don't get paid again? A few there that will have no problems finding new clubs.
  9. Ebosele has gone to Udinese hasn't he?
  10. I agree in the main @Davefevs. However that NP nonsense of "If they're not on the bus, they are gone etc...". That he kept on using for 12 months, when it was quite obvious that those days of getting rid of players in that way were over from a financial perspective if nothing else; were somewhat tiring.....
  11. So in essence, some sort of creative outlet for the Chairman. A bit like play school? Still haven't gotten over this shirt.
  12. Was at that cup game. He had a very solid performance, and i thought he would kick on in his career with us. Some things aren't meant to be
  13. Running towards Adversity makes perfect sense when talking about Police officers, and I get that Ipswich are now effectively owned by their pension fund. It however makes very little sense, when talking about a football team. It's probably unlikely that they will be running towards a violent and dangerous situation on the playing field. A classic example of mixed messages getting completely misunderstood.
  14. An interesting demographic of ST holders now. Of note, massive move from the Dolman (still over 3000 seats available) to the South Stand (about 75). Very similar capacities for both stands as well. Around £150 cheaper in South Stand though. Tough financial times for everyone out there at present.
  15. @GrahamC Wasn't this the guy that you were talking to me about a few months ago? As for Cardiff. I think a number of clubs are probably trying to recreate the Huddersfield model from last year around better recruitment. Going to be a lot of unemployed championship footballers next month isn't there. Certainly interesting times for clubs 're their future planning.
  16. Unless i'm missing something.... Has Downsey actually confirmed yet who is going to be working for/where he will be working. I saw the tweet when it first came out, and asked the question whether it was actually from FIFA or not? Still no clearer that it isn't working for another organisation. Apologies if I've missed the clarification.
  17. But he is a DJ. So my rolled eyes are back on again. ?
  18. I've replied to his tweet asking who sent the job offer tweet to him? I can't believe FIFA would offer a job via a tweet starting "Hi Ian". More likely this is the Ashton gate Sports Bar World cup party team ? Hopefully whoever it is, will ban him from using a 5 min White Stripes intro again?
  19. So you would go down to 10 men if someone got injured, even if you hadn't used up your allocation of subs. This could get get somewhat complicating ??
  20. I was just reading that. If I've read it properly, you will only now be allowed to sub players at predetermined times, with Half time being one of them. Surely they would have to take into account injuries etc?
  21. I thought it was on June 10th. I'm guessing they've been waiting for the new signing to happen to release the new away kit with him in it, as per Williams & Atkinson in previous seasons.
  22. Spoken to a number of colleagues who are STs at the Mem. They are finding the hard way that there is a huge disparity between L1 & L2 wages (they should see the Championship). Their highest paid players last season were only on a couple of grand. Tyler Walker who they have been linked with is on 7k. This is the problem that I highlighted on this thread in a couple of posts a month ago. The Gas have lost pretty much the entire nucleus of their squad (Both CBs, 3 out of 4 top scorers/assisters); and all of their loanees/1 year contracted players. They are having to rebuild in a higher league; whilst not really have the infrastructure to do that. The other promoted teams, have by and large been able to keep their squads together, and aren't afflicted in the same way. So far they're only been able to resign Trevor Clarke. Who lets be fair is not a key player for them, as he was out injured for most of last season. While being a relatively big team in L2, paying decent wages for that level, and using the Old Fleetwood connections. They are now competing against teams like Ipswich, Sheff Wed, Charlton, Portsmouth etc; who will all pay better wages, and will be much more attractive to players. Thus they will have to wait right until the end of the window for me; and pick up the scraps of players that other teams have passed on. Fair play to them on getting promoted after their first 4 months in the division. But there seemed to be no planning on what to do when/if they got promoted. It was just "Don't worry, we're sort something out". EDIT: They've also got a real chance of losing their last goalscorer Collins who is entering his last year of contract At least they've made one signing :- Bristol Rovers confirm Phat new signing for the 2022/23 League One campaign and beyond - Bristol Live (bristolpost.co.uk)
  23. I have to say the EFL have just through the whole Derby episode come across as incredibly gutless. Ultimately MM has the funds but not the willing to sort this situation out. Not unlike the Bury situation from a few years ago. I get that Derby are potentially a huge club to be thrown out of the league, but the effectiveness of the EFL as a rule enforcing body for the other 71 clubs must be at stake now. They come across as not fit for purpose. If there are a set of rules that clubs have signed up to, they need to be enforced without fear or favour. If they allow one club to dominate/bully them, then their own impartiality and effectiveness can be called into question. It still leaves a bitter taste, listening to Richard Gould saying that the club are working with the EFL to reform PP's and FFP; whilst conforming to the current protocols. Whilst there are clubs that in the past have flouted the said rules with little or no come back. What better way for the EFL to start to become the organisation everyone wants it to be, than to come down hard now on the whole fiasco; and grow a set of balls again.
  24. Using that analogy why are you then saying that "Some of the comments on this thread are nonsense?" That comment kind of contradicts your point about other people's view like your own "doesn't make me wrong or you correct" Just an observation ?
