  1. On the Kane Wilson thread, I spoke about how Bristol World, and the Watford Observer were quoting each other over their "If Rob Edwards was interested in signing old FGR players" pieces. There is of course a necessity for sites to generate their own click bait nowadays (look at the Bristol live "Latest Transfer gossip" or "Live" pages). The headlines of any site nowadays say nothing of the true message (ie F##k all going on). But you have to click onto them to be told that nothing is happening. It's all a bit painful at the moment. That's why the Naismith transfer was so refreshing. No "Gossip", ITK's posting nonsense etc. All very old school, done before anyone really knew anything about it ( other than @Lew-T of course)
  2. No you are right. In true impartial Ian Gay "Stats prove everything" fashion. To do justice to COD maybe we need to look at his output from the previous season's sterling service with us:-
  3. From : Callum O'Dowda - Goals, Assists & Stats | FootyStats They've signed a winner there. Callum O'Dowda is a Midfielder who has appeared in 20 matches this season in Championship, playing a total of 1260 minutes. Callum O'Dowda gets an average of 0 assists for every 90 minutes that the player is on the pitch. See how they rank against other Championship Players. Callum O'Dowda scored a total of 1 goals so far this season in the league, which places them at 9th in the Bristol City squad's Top Scorers list. ank by Output (Current League) Goal Rank 249th / 558 Players Assist Rank 541st / 558 Players
  4. Guaranteed to score on his debut, and then go anonymous after a month with them. They will be looking at that highlights reel and thinking they've signed a world beater. The reality is, that a number of the "Highlights" have him in an Oxford shirt, which just about tells you everything about what he's achieved with us over the last 6 years.
  5. Good point, well made @Davefevs ?
  6. Almost testimonial time for him
  7. The Watford Observer quotes "Reports from the West Country", whilst Bristol World say "Reports from the Watford Observer". I think the pair of them just need to stop the charade now, and stop quoting each other......?
  8. Some nice stuff here. Looking forward to seeing all sizes apart from XXXL or XXXS sold out by the end of the week. With an expected new delivery date of Jan/Feb 2023...
  9. Well i hope he tells City before appearing on a roof somewhere. Or else we'd be really put out from an etiquette point of view (not!)
  10. A report from the Watford Observer says that Wilson is one player that newly appointed boss Rob Edwards would like to work with again if he were to consider signing players from his former club. So If i've got it right, the Watford Observer is saying "If" he was interested in working with any of his old FGR players again, then Edwards would consider Wilson. Kind of a non story isn't it? "If" Pearson was interested in signing players from his old club Leicester. Then one of the players he used to work with, and no doubt be interested in signing is Jamie Vardy, or possibly Kasper Schmeichel. Doesn't really mean anything as an article does it?
  11. Apologies @Nogbad the Bad I've run out of likes for the day (Yes, I know I should pay the £5 subscription). 100% agree with your points here. Is the digital programme here to stay as well? Maybe printing a free programme would be a way forward, and a nice touch for young supporters. I can't imagine it would cost less that a week of KP's wages over the course of the season.
  12. Is there a limit % wise that you can sell? What's our capacity 27k? If it was 50% max then at 13.5k we would have to take them off sale. for the Gas to sell 5k, and then pause is a possible indictment on their capacity issues at the moment. I was told by one of their season ticket holders at work that there are rules around terracing now. Apparently there has to be a couple of metres between the front barrier to the first row of standing. As such, the Gas have lost around 2.5k worth of capacity from around the ground from terracing they can no longer use.
  13. The new design is of course a marmite strip. My main issue however, is why have we gone with a retro home strip, and that a full on assault on the senses modern Goalkeeper strip? The two together with just look bizarre in the extreme.
  14. I thought they took an early payment from Liverpool, and waived a sell on clause for a young footballer that had gone there? That money was supposed to go towards the immediate wages.
  15. I remember thinking at the time that comment "I need a preseason to work with him" was a bit bizarre. This was a player that LJ had already had at the club for 5-6 months. Surely KP would have had opportunities during that time to either get up to the required fitness levels, or develop alongside the rest of the squad. For me, it was more "I'm looking forward to having a preseason to figure out how I'm going to use him". More representative of him being not particularly 100% behind the signing in the first place.
  16. Good point well made ? I meant the Liam Walsh that signed for Swansea on a 3 year contract, that played about 6 games before being farmed out to Hull. Undoubted talent, but was forever injured.
  17. Any idea when we might get a verdict in this hugely important case? There's only 1 judge presiding, surely she must have some idea after listening to the evidence?
  18. Completely agree. My point was, those are the drivers that aren't paying for the fuel themselves; their companies are generally.
  19. Certainly strikes me with his work rate, that he could have been a Pearson type player. Didn't have his finest game against us at AG in April though.
  20. The thing is with Petrol stations that they have been losing money hand over fist for the last 5 years prior to all of this nonsense, due to people moving over to electric cars. This is probably their last chance to really spank the arse financially out of people who still have petrol/diesel cars, with the no new non-electric cars coming in 2030. Oil prices dropped by 25% in March/April but of course the saving was not passed on, blaming the war in Ukraine; when only 6% of our petrol comes from Russia. Even if VAT was temporarily paused, or even stopped I'm not sure it will have any real effect on prices. It's funny now travelling on the motorway, the amount of cars in lane 1, travelling at around 60 mph for maximum fuel consumption. The only cars racing in lane 3 are most like company cars, or ones on fuel cards.
  21. Pleasantly surprised with the new ST figures, as it's a difficult cost of living picture for a lot of people at the moment. I have however seen a lot of people leaving the Dolman for places like the South Stand, Family areas or Lansdown wings. So i think there has been an adjustment financially for a significant amount of fans, whilst still of course supporting the club. It Would be interesting to see the breakdown come the end of actual income from STs now compared to previous years. For me the club though have to look at their POTD figures for next season. I'm S32 with my eldest (Under 19). My ticket averages out at £23 per game. I would have no issue with £30 per game POTD as still making a saving. £39 though for me is too much for people, I know my wife baulks at the cost; if she wants to come and watch with us. We then have to wait for the special offers that are being offered in the season.
  22. Maybe the fact that Huddersfield, Blackburn & Derby all chose not to take up the option when he was on loan with them should have sent alarm bells ringing. For me though, it's the loan spell with us prior to his permanent transfer that is inexcusable. He was poor in the main, and was left out of the side at the end. How we thought we could polish him up to be a diamond is beyond me. Good luck to Coventry with him. There is undoubted talent there, however my gut feeling is he's another Liam Walsh on the horizon for them.
  23. Good Post @Bristol Oil Services And the points you raised highlight for me why Alex Scott is such a good prospect. Yes, he likes to get on the front foot, and be progressive. But he isn't afraid of getting involved (12 yellows ?) or sprinting back to cover for other players. His determination to make do in the RWB position, and to give 100% is admirable as well. All of these attributes seem somewhat lost on Mr Palmer at times. Undoubted talent, but from my perspective (like yours as well, by the look of it); the modern day footballer has to do so much more when they are out of possession. Who knows whether a player like Jacki would have survived in the modern game. Players like Tomlin demonstrate the need for more than just a playmaker.
  24. Morning @Fordy62 No hate from me to Palmer. I think he just exemplifies where we went wrong as a club, and like Wells is an example of lessons that need to be learnt (If they haven't already). Certain players now feel like some sort of financial millstones around our neck, regardless of their performances (or lack of them) on the pitch. Alongside Wells, Kalas also falls into this category. Stopping NP from reshaping the squad in the manner in which he wants us to progress. As a club we just got a bit too ambitious financially, and like Icarus got burnt accordingly.
