  1. Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere, but this is a lovely interview with Colin.  He talks about how he lives Bristol and used to come to visit his daughter at Uni here in disguise.    Lots of memories about the banter with our fans going back to Palace play off semi final

Somewhat concerning if JL is downplaying an extension for NP.

I did have a nasty thought last night, what with all the positive publicity around the impact Nige is having, that some cr@ppy struggling Prem outfit might try to tempt him away.   Hopefully his experience at Watford will put him off, but you can see why he must be of interest to bigger, struggling clubs.

  3. Pleased to see Chris Martin score for his new club yesterday.    Thought he was a real trooper for us in difficult times - always gave his all.    Was definitely time to move him on, but the QPR fans were very disrespectful and he's showed them what he's capable of.   Watching the highlights of the game - they lost to Millwall - QPR remind me of how we were not so long ago - terrible lack of concentration leading to conceding soft goals.

Thought we were solid today. Compact.

Norwich had their moments of course and a fair bit of the  ball but for all their possession were not really threatening for the most part.

Scott should've had a penalty for sure and the wait goes on. 70-30 in favour of Norwich as far as the ref was concerned it felt like.

It wasn't a pen.  Even Naismith said so on Robins TV

At the moment when Cornick comes on for Wells we lose a bit of energy up front I think. Cornick presses but he doesn't make the same runs that Wells does. It's early days though - I'd like to make it very clear that I am not writing him off!

i reckon Nakhi would have scored that one one one with the keeper too.   Not dissing Cornick - he hasn't had a chance to settle in yet - but that was a really chance

The incredible thing for me is that when I was growing up, PNE had one of England's greatest players of all time, Tom Finney. I saw them in a Cup Final on TV and at Eastville in a cup tie and they played real quality passing football.

I have always believed that such great players leave their imprint in a club. John Atyeo certainly did for City, as City supporters don't want our side to  be a "Dark Arts Team".

A shame that Finney's influence has not lived on at Preston.

What on earth were you doing at Eastville????   Strictly only for greyhounds!

Nige is a proper manager. Very few, if any previous City managers would make a comment like that. We’re lucky to have him.

I wonder if Scotty’s  English folk songs include the Wurzels - I can image ‘one for the Bristol City’ and our anthem ‘Drink up the cider’ followed by the Blackbird  song………….:rofl2br:

I love this story about Brian Clough and Vinny Jones -  "Now play your F**cking music, Wimbledon"

  8. I was listening to Hornets TV commentary - very pro-Watford.   They noted how difficult Watford were finding it to cope with our shape - particularly the numbers in midfield.     Nige deserves a lot of credit for getting the tactics right today.   They didn't really threaten.   And Tommy would have taken that chance on another day.   Fair play to the lads.

  9. Reading this makes me wonder about who are the real leaders amongst the players?   Our captain is on the bench.   Weimann can lead by example in terms of passion but he's been out of sorts lately.    James is a calming influence and we fall apart without him but not exactly a "lead them over the trenches" type leader.   Naismith is a strong presence but is too wayward.    Conway has the qualities but is inexperienced.       And so on ...

I think lack of leaders the pitch is our downfall

I like Pearson's approach to the overall running of the football side of the club and he's had a positive effect so I'd want to keep him at least until the end of the season, if not longer. But I suspect while he's good at instilling values he's also stubborn & possibly not so great at motivating the modern sports professionals, we've seen how cantankerous he can be in interviews & when back's are against the wall that attitude is a risky approach.

My preference would be to create a role for Pearson away from match day / day to day with squad & promote Euell into the Head Coach role until the end of the season, give him the freedom to make cultural, tactical & personnel decisions, get a buzz amongst the team. I get the impression the squad have a lot of respect for him.

So no, Nigel shouldn't walk but he could take the lift upstairs.

    Interesting idea.

I didn't go last night and haven't seen the highlights, but reading about the game on here, it seems another example of Pearson not being  able to inspire or motivate the team into higher levels of performance.  He rates himself as a man manager but I'm beginning to question that.    I've always assumed his dour demeanour is just his "TV face" and sort of respected that.   But the more I think about it, the less I can imagine him being able to lift the team spirit before a game or at half time.  Look at the passion you see from really successful managers and compare that to NP.    It seems the players don't want to prove anything or impress anybody, they don't seem to care what he thinks or whether he'll drop them.

If we could get a decent fee for Semenyo i would let him go. Hopefully some of the money would be used to strengthen the squad.

he looked dynamite when he first came back from injury but he's been a bit quiet recently and so I tend to agree with you - however, we'd have to replace him immediately with someone better because we ain't exactly  scoring goals for fun at the minute so we'd have to replace him.

  12. If we can keep this squad in tact and fit for the rest of the season, I'm confident results will come.

Problem is we keep losing key players to injury and our squad is small to start with.

And Scott put on a good show for the Sky cameras yesterday.

And Semenyo might shine in Qatar.

Oh god,  I'm not confident at all!

Having watched that first half I'd say it's one of the best performances in a long time, I'd say our only downfall is playing it back and forth with Max although I wonder if Max has been told to play it out but has taken it too literally as that pass to Scott was a hospital pass and had he fouled because of that he could have been off.
I am interested in the second half with Semenyo coming on from the bench, I think that's when he's at his best, coming on against tired legs, his power and pace against tired legs really lets him shine.
Only frustration we can have would surely be that we've not been able to take the lead, everything else is looking very promising.

we could easily be 1-0 up.

they have not threatened at all

James and Scott controlling the midfield.
