  1. Very good post and depressing that we don’t have any viable alternatives really. The selectors have previously said they don’t want someone debuting in an Ashes series in Oz so I guess we’ll be stuck with him for now. Hameed looks promising and I hope we stick with him, Burns’ failures are probably adding to the pressure on him. I hope for the Caribbean tour we look to the future - get Yates or someone in at the top and just give them a crack. Exactly right about Archer, I was in NZ 2 years ago when Root flogged him into the dirt on 2 of the flattest pitches you’ll ever see. 42 overs in the first innings at Mount Maunganui!!
  2. I’d say it will do as there haven’t been any reports of covid for either club as far as I’m aware and I’d imagine Huddersfield will be travelling down today. I think the game should go ahead, the club will make the stadium as safe as it can be then it comes down to personal responsibility and circumstances for individuals as to whether they are willing to accept the risk of attending.
  3. It’s so bad it’s almost funny at this point. Burns needs dropping for the rest of the tour.
  4. My memory is failing me but that sounds about right. Saw Cook get a double ton on day 3/4, only match we didn’t lose that series. decent start today!
  5. Despite my comment, I see you’re going tomorrow and I’m very jealous! I was at the MCG 4 years ago, haven’t recovered from the trauma of celebrating Tom Curran get Warner out for 99 only for a no ball to be called as he trudged off
  6. All the ingredients there for another 5-0 whitewash - already in this series we have seen terrible selection decisions, batting collapse, wickets off no balls, missed run outs and abysmal catching. All that’s missing is a couple of injuries to key players.
  7. Yep, Stone and Archer are huge losses for this series. Wood is only going to play 3 tests probably and otherwise there is a serious lack of pace in this attack
  8. Should have taken that, that will cost us
  9. Key is keeping the pressure on Warner, Labuschagne, Smith now and hopefully nipping a couple more quickly!
  10. Aggers saying in his BBC article he thinks Broad might miss out again with Leach retained. Wood has been rested.
  11. What really does my head in is that Silverwood, Root have been banging on about the Ashes being the goal / long term priority for a couple of years now and how much planning has gone in to it. Covid and the weather cannot be helped but you can’t tell me part of the plan was ever leaving over 1000 test wickets out of the side on day 1 at the Gabba. Both teams are undercooked, Aus have barely played any Test cricket all year. Win the toss, bowl on a green pitch, overhead conditions and put pressure on. Perfect conditions for Broad to have one of his special spells. We all know from previous Ashes series how important the opening session / day / test is. All momentum now with Australia, they have a fantastic bowling attack but our batting line up is so meek and fragile, the body language is so deferential from most of them.
  12. I’d have left Leach out - weather is dodgy, pitch green, perfect for an all seam attack with Root to fill a few overs and I think we need Wood’s pace. A real shame Jofra is injured too
  13. In an hour we’ll be 20-3 and I’ll be in bed. This is my attempt at reverse mockers
  14. Despite what I’ve just said about our bowling attack I am bricking it that we’re batting first!
  15. Warner will be over the moon. Robinson is inexperienced, Wood is prone to injuries. This could backfire spectacularly
  16. What the actual?!? No Broad or Anderson…
  17. How is kicking an opposition player in the head as they run through on goal a red card? Poor old Rovers!
  18. So HMS Piss the league, when’s it due to launch? ?
  19. Yep, I was initially surprised but will need Jimmy under lights in Adelaide and looking at pitch in Brisbane Woakes and Broad could be perfect.
  20. Would be nice to have a decent game to look forward to, always fancied Everton away
  21. Big shame for Williams and us of course. I said last season I didn’t believe that Walsh and Williams were going to be the magic solution that some had hoped. Williams looks a very good footballer but it was clear that his injury was worse than publicised and was never going to be fully fit last season. He hasn’t really been fully fit since; fingers crossed for him that his career isn’t going to end up withering away due to injuries. He’s definitely someone I’d like to see a lot more of in a City shirt
  22. Patel with all 10 wickets for NZ v India! What an achievement
