Why can’t we just make do with the two kits we already have?
Not sure I want to see another.
I agree.
However, what happens if we play against someone who wears red, washed out yellow, green and white?
Oh hang on, no one does….- 1

Naismith interview interesting. Mentions injuries we have and fact we only have one number 9 in Nakhi. Another who seems disappointed we haven’t strengthened.
He must be delighted he left Luton for this shambles!

That last time we had a cliffhanger like this was SODs “Stupid question” moment.
Someone more talented than me could probably probably merge the two together maybe to a dance beat. We could have a hit on our hands “Stupid question…. I can’t answer that!!!”

Wow - that’s great news for him.
not sure it’s good news for us, Bournemouth fans can start getting excited though!!!

He’s gone isn’t he? One way or another.
Sad state of affairs. -

I am fed up with all his PR talk. We will never get to PL under SL, strongly believe that. Same old, same old. Time for change.
You’re right. That’s exactly what it is - PR talk, isn’t it? We hear it every year…. But only when season tickets need to be shifted and optimism is at its highest (due to us not actually playing games ).
My favourite question on the club’s (SL’s) ambition seem very relevant:
If you had to bet your home on it, which way will City next exit this division, up or down?

IMO we have always been on the dear side for the Club shop, at least the last few years.
I Remember reading that Bristol Sport would be doing everything in house, but the fans never got the benefit in prices .
That Man U top (horrible and basic though it is) has a stitched in logo , at least they went the extra mile for a touch of quality. Sewing a badge on and charging almost double is a joke. One thing , I seem to remember there were Clubs that were with Hummel the same time as us, and charged less for similar goods. It's short sighted IMO.
If you do decent stuff at reasonable prices, I think you would sell more to make up any profit lost per item. Not only that, you're talking about fans , they are likely to buy more than one.
I got one of the Hummel Tee shirts, I think it was about £30. I don't buy many things from the shop (I wont go on about choice and stock) , but I liked the shirt and at the price I was ok with it. Now I really like the "City" Tees, but at £40 there is no chance, I got the version from OTIB . The O'Neils one looks decent quality, but at almost quarter of the price it was a difficult decision.Yeah I like that City logo and the one you’ve got is a sensible price.
it’s a bit of a seventies look (the logo). If we’d just gone with that and not the splat thing, I think there would have been far less grumbling.
I’d actually not mind that logo on a change shirt - maybe go for a bit of a retro style shirt and at least make a theme of it.
I also remember that BS would be able to produce at fairer prices…. Turned out to be BS!!!!

There is no defence for charging so much for those things, they have completely lost sight of the fans. Get reasonable impulse buys in the shop, cheaper decent quality shirts and odds n ends that the casual shopper will grab.
I have to defend the Club with this, and I'm repeating myself here.
We were without stock, without a supplier and they needed a company to turn around in 3 months, something that would normally take 18. It is possible O'Neils were the only one that could do it. If we couldn't supply shirts for this season fans would be going mad, none of the "big" brands would/could have done it, we were in a difficult position and we will never know if there were other options. This could be interesting. I have seen plenty of the 3rd kit so not everyone hates it , but..
The kits are usually a similar price and they are the kits we watch the team in, so they hold a special place with fans. The training/leisure ranges are different, if they are really good and good quality , they will sell. If they are reasonable quality and reasonable price they will sell. If they are massively over priced for half assed designs ? We will see.
We may be contracted for a couple of years, but if they don't sell the other stuff there has to be a rethink. The sales could come early this season.Good point. It would be interesting to know the split between leisure/training wear and shirts. It seem more people are buying training/leisure than ever before.
Also take your point about short timescales to replace Hummel but my point was more about consumer pricing… we’ve landed with a small brand at higher than normal prices for customers (well supporters actually). The club is making significant margin more from its supporters than other similar clubs (as shown above). That’s just exploiting a captive market.
Man United/Adidas £60 Bristol City/O’Neils £65…. It doesn’t sit right with me, global brand Man Utd who never knowingly give a toss about their fans charging less than City…. -
-
At least the strategy is completely clear - maximise profit irrespective of quality. Strike a deal with a low-end manufacturer and sell at an absurd price to a captive market (prices higher than similar clubs using better brands/quality merchandise).
Hopefully there will be a big enough downturn in sales to hit the club and force a re-think for next season.- 4

Commercially, at club level, it would make no sense to pay equally.
However, after watching yesterday’s dross I could make decent case for paying our men the same as the women!!!

Think the Europe point is a good one. We never seemed to recruit from Europe, then we had a bit of a foray under LJ which largely didn’t work out and now we’ve reverted to domestic recruitment only.
Think we’re missing a trick tbh when you look at other teams in the league.
Agree. Do we have scouts in Europe I wonder?

Here’s their home kit. A template from Adidas but a really smart, clean shirt. Personally I’d prefer us to have something like this. Oh and Adidas products £10 cheaper than O’Neils?
Not so sure about Bez and Shaun playing up top together though!!

Will come out in time I’m sure but IMO we have had a last minute change of heart due to the backlash of the third kit and have now decided against using the splat robin and/or the blue rumoured colour
Can’t imagine it’s an O’Neills cock up, whatever we think of their brand/quality, we can at least give them credit for turning over two kits in February when we needed them promptly
I doubt it is O’Neils. Something is wrong with the club that we so often have kit supply problems. I wonder whether we aren’t easy to deal with as a business and strike too hard a deal or don’t buy in the quantities to make us an attractive customer…. Working out way form the manufacturer’s priority list. All speculation but sobering seems odd.

I am now able to tell you that the away shirt will not be available before the end of August / start of September, but there is still no guaranteed date
Is it me or do we have “supply issues” with every kit manufacturer??? What’s the common denominator here…??

I see Man U have signed a £900m ten-year deal with Adidas…. Crazy money I know but I’d love to know how that compares with our O’Neils deal!

Arguably the price we quote to Spurs would be higher as the sell on chances would diminish
This is how the club should be thinking.
the bigger the club we sell to the lower the chance of a sell-on for a profit.- 1
