  1. Nothing new; 30 years ago we signed a goalie on a free transfer from Chelmsford City.
  2. I remember the first weekend of the Prem. The managers of the two teams playing on the Monday night both said it didn't feel right. "The others are playing and we're sitting around". Everton v Chelsea and Fulham v Liverpool is pleasing to me. The fixtures used to be arranged so that if Arsenal were home to a Manchester team, Spurs would be away to the other and other pairings would be made.

    England v Hngary

England put out eleven talented players. Hungary fielded a team that compliments and works together. When England attack, it's against a mass of opponents. When Hungary attack we have two or three defending. When England had a shot in the 50th minute, there was a City flag behind the goal.
  4. OK, it's started, but like many people on here (?), I'm not that gripped by it. The Hungarians have parked Dibusz in front of the goal.
  5. 2' 50" in; the bookies reckon City will be 21st this coming season. The presenter says he was surprised by this and discusses City for thirty seconds.
  6. Being positive, if England are going to have a poor spell, I'd rather they do it now than in Qatar later this year.
  7. Too many passes going astray coupled with poor decision making have let England down. When given the chance to run at their goalie, the England players pass wide giving the defence time to reform. When confronted by three defenders, England's forwards will try running through instead of passing to an unmarked team mate.
  8. From a Grimsby supporting friend Division 2 next season, now we can play proper teams such as Sutton United, Crawley Town and Salford City instead of Notts County, Wrexham Halifax and Chesterfield. I can see record crowds already
  9. Grimsby hold the record of clubs waiting longest to get back to Div 1. City took 65 years, Grimsby were relegated from Div 1 in 1948; 74 years ago. Will today be a steping stone for them?
  10. In the end this was the 1994 shirt...
  11. 1954 - 55 when City were Champions...
  12. Feb 69 my first game, so I'm not the longest serving member on here. In 1976 the EP wrote "For the first time in their life time, fans will be able to watch City in the first division". Several pensioners wrote in stating they had been there for the 1909-10 season.
  13. The EFL have confirmed that fixtures for the Championship, League One and League Two will all be released on Thursday 23 June at 9.00am. Three more weeks to get our suggestions in to Jerseybean then. The EFL schedule for the 2022/23 season has been confirmed, with the Sky Bet Championship, League One and League Two set to start on the weekend of Saturday 30 July 2022
  14. This was in the EP, in Feb 1994. Fans got to choose from a selection of five designs for home shirt and from three for the away shirt.
  15. Do you mean "Let's all laugh at Rovers Scotland"?
  16. Sky Comedy channel episode 1 was at 9.00 and episode 2 started at 9.30, two more next Wednesday. The title is "Rovers" and is a comedy about a group of fans who support a lower league team whose colours are blue & white.

    Job for...

In 1986 the going rate for a brickie was £100 for every thousand bricks or 120 brieze blocks. 1988 it rose to £120.
  18. That's a bit too obvious. I was thinking of say, WSM & Bath or Taunton & Bridgewater. They'd have to be in the same division though.
  19. Well done Solihull Motors; 3-1 winners today. For years the two local rivals Solihull Borough and Moor Green Rovers played in the Southern League. Like the two Inverness teams, they merged and climbed up their respective football pyramids. Any suggestions for non league teams in our area who might benefit from merging? Looking back through history, Bristol South End and Bedminster merged and achieved more success that had they not. At that time the biggest teams in Bristol were Warmley and St George. Rivalry was slowly killing the two clubs but they refused to merge and both disappeared.
  20. I wish Mansfield had been this poor when we played them at Wembley. ?
  21. We found out the hard way that Gary Collier had decided to leave City and join Coventry, so this situation is nothing new.
  22. The initials of Sunderland's sponsor is....G A S Does that explain why gasheads reckon their Sunderland fans 2nd favourite team?
  23. A Grimsby fan I know admitted today that at 93" he turned off the TV. Imagine his amazement to find GT had actually won! ?
  24. OK, I nicked this from the Forest forum, but worth a read. https://www.forestforum.co.uk/threads/49448-Proper-Football-in-the-70s-and-80s-before-those-W***ers-at-Sky-killed-it Interested to read posts such as Originally Posted by virgo https://i-dailymail-co-uk.cdn.amppro...67_964x642.jpg Bristol City v Forest in 1980 - look at the state of that pitch Aye... I remember that game. Looks like Gerry Gow in that picture with our Viv. On page 2, they are looking at grounds no longer with us. Anyone able to identify the ground shown in post #41?
  25. Remember that Rovers fan claiming thy'd be in the Prem within five years? https://www.forestforum.co.uk/threads/44511-The-demise-of-Wayne-Rooney-s-D***y-County-(in-League-One)/page1205 Derby have fans like that too.... The comments on this are a fantastic read, they're winning the PL within 3 years after back to back promotions! Rams being the most passionate fans in the world!
