    God, I'd forgotten THAT !

    72 - 73 season? Home to Millwall in August and a bit of trouble.

    Swindon away in September where we expected trouble and Millwall turned up to help Swindon against us.

    October away to Oxford and there were some Millwall & Swindon fans there to help Oxford out as we had run ins with them for a few years.

    My understanding was that City have never lost to a non league side in an official competitive first team game. The Gas on the other hand must be close to double figures now (not including defeats when they were non league themselves).

    No; those three defeats were in the FA Cup. The biggest upset was a 3-0 defeat home to Crewe (1910-11). The others were a one goal margin away to Brentford 1-2 (1905-06) and Reading 0-1 (1900-01).

    So yes, we have lost to non Leaguers in the FA Cup, but unlike our lesser bretheren, not for 105 years (and counting). :clapping:

    I may be wrong but the Wheely Barrow 1-5ers have probably lost to more non league sides in 2 years than we have in about 70 odd years. Maybe even longer..

    Over 105 years ago(!), City lost to three non league teams in a ten year period. Rovers on the other hand.........

  4. They're not so delusional after all;

    Clockendgas; "total sh**e something is very wrong at the moment"

    GasHeadBlues; "How the hell did Gaffney miss that? Because that's what he does"!

    At the start of the day though Paul Pirate posted "5. 1 gas. Will be no complacency today as we need to get back to winning ways,will be too strong for them and we're get early goal it will be a breeze. Roll on old Trafford in the 3rd round or trashton ooooooooh"

    They'll do what they always do; whore themselves around scrounging for money.  It always been their ambition: have a brand new stadium but not have to pay for it.

    On gaschat a few years ago, someone posted a genuine plea "Why can't someone just give us a ground"?

    A player is only worth what is left on his contract, so as he only signed a one year deal last summer I'd say £1.5m in January at the absolute max, or it's a free transfer next summer.

    someone will pay for him. Think back to the dark days of the early 1980's. Gerry Gow was transferred to Manchester City for £180,000 to raise some capital. Clive Whitehead had been playing in the reserves because the club could not afford the win bonus if he was in the first team. West Brom snapped him up for £100,000, a fraction of his true worth.

    We've only lost to one non league club in the FA Cup haven't we? But it was Tottenham Hotspur and they won the cup that year!

    And we usually put them in their place...e.g. 9-2 vs St Albans...

    Sadly no, three defeats to non leaguers in ten years.

    City lost at home to Crewe 3-0 in 1910/11. They joined the League ten years later. That remains City's biggest Cup upset.

    In 1905-06 we lost 2-1 at Brentford who also joined the League in 20-21.

    Reading like the other two, joined the League in 20-21 and they beat City in the 1900-01 season after drawing at AG.

  8. A few balanced and reasoned points made by one or two posters, but most remain delusional;

    "I thought all the Bristol sport corporate stuff was a bit sinister, I hope we never end up that way if we do go up. "

    "We've just got to keep our squad and staff together and keep progressing and I honestly believe we'll overtake them some time in the next few years. To be honest I don't really care that much the way I see it is we're a better club than them regardless of league position because we didn't turn our backs on our club like they did theirs in their darkest times. But of course it would be great to play and beat them in the league again."

    "I know the way we are run as a club right now we can, and will get to the top level - will they?"

  9. More gas logic / delusion / grasping at straws; http://gaschat.co.uk/thread/8469/scoring-home

    I see that we have now scored in every home league game for over a year. This is the best record in the EFL.
    Team.                                Consecutive games scored
    B.Rovers.                                        24
    Walsall.                                           14
    Oxford.                                           13
    Portsmouth.                                    12
    N.Forest.                                        10
    Sequence began on 20th October 2015.

    That was balanced however with;

    Last visiting team to keep a clean sheet in a competitive game at the mem - Chesham :o

    What about the web fingered mob from Somerset?
    We haven't played City for a while in the league?

    28th October 2000 is the date that City overtook Rovers in the league, winning 2-1 at Wycombe while Rovers lost 0-2 at home to Oldham.

    To quote from that anthology "My favourite year" - A City away win was never complete unless it coincided with a Rovers home defeat.

    The chance of them getting a third successive promotion is virtually zero in my opinion, but imagine if they do it. They are going to be so completely out of their depth up here that it will be great entertainment.

    Just incredible what DC and his players are achieving lately, especially after 2 consecutive promotions. I honestly don't ever remember a time before when no matter who's in the team, who we're up against and whether we're in front or behind, I always feel relaxed and confident that we'll get a result. And even if we do lose a game every now and then, you just know that they'll bounce back.
    What a time to be a Gashead!

    I mean....this. We go 2 goals behind away from home, get a draw and it almost seems like a loss. 2 seasons ago it took the play-offs. Last season, automatic but could do better. Only leaves one way to go up this season....Champs. Whether we will or not is to be decided, BUT trust me my fellow Gas 'Eads, we're going up. FTG!
