  1. I'm curious as to how this works in practice. I didn't think a player could agree terms on the basis that a club might be obligated to buy him in the future, so would this 'deal' still be dependant on the player agreeing terms with Fulham?
  2. I think you have to bear in mind that at 18 with no academy background he was going to be very raw, and behind in certain aspects of his game. But certainly I remember that Derby game and AS was nowhere near the required level. In fact I've been a little unsure whether he had the tenacity and belief to make it over the last couple of years. He's clearly come on massively this season since seemingly having an epiphany - half way through a game (Millwall away?). If he can sort out his finishing (see Andi Weinmenn) and decision making a bit over the next season then he will be ripe for a big move.
  3. I still shudder when I remember SL saying that he tried to talk Swiss out of leaving. The only proper response to that (and one I hope the interviewer at least asked in his head) was "What? Are you mad?".
  4. FYI I don't think he's local but from London - I believe he was attending SGS Filton when he was recommended to City. He signed a 4+1 deal a while ago (deal), and the four years are up at the end of next season, so we don't need to sell him yet, and shouldn't unless it's silly money (or comes with a year loan back). Given the length of his contract, signed after we turned down Chelsea's approach for him, I wonder whether his salary might be slightly higher than your upper estimate - or at least potentially higher with incentives based on appearances and/or goals - remember it was signed under Mark Ashton's 'watch', so could be anything. I think another year of improvement with City would suit everyone: AS will then be attracting better suitors and have a higher earnings potential and we'll be further up the league than we would be otherwise and get a significant transfer fee.
  5. Always a silver lining. I actually was going to do that, but I got confused (or mislead) by 'request-a-bet', and requested one, but got no reply.
  6. Steady on. He's only currently contracted until the end of the season. I hope we come to terms with him because he looks like he might be able to do a steady job at this level.
  7. Just put the radio on - sounds like the gas were fighting the villiage people then?
  8. You've heard of the last of the big spenders? Honestly, any time I put real money on I lose

    Downsy

"Are you sure? I said it's a 1, do you want to go higher or lower?"
  10. Yes. He wasn't prepared to drop to league one to get games so realistically he'll be here doing sweet fa all next season. Maybe he'll get a wake up call in the January transfer window and make some effort to secure a contact elsewhere. Whatever the case he'll be dropping his earnings by more than half - probably more than three quarters if he goes to league one - for his next contract, if he gets one anywhere.
  11. https://www.avfc.co.uk/news/2021/september/New-measures-to-prevent-resale-of-tickets/ https://tickets.avfc.co.uk/screenloader.aspx?type=include&page=usercontent/documents/html/tandc.html It sounds like (a) they have a waiting list for season tickets, and (b) they have a problem with ticket touting. Also, you can transfer a season ticket to a guest for a single game 'with the express written permission of the club'. How easy this is to do I don't know. It would certain seem to stop you passing tickets on at short notice. Villa (along with most I suspect) Premier clubs operate an official ticket exchange system. It seems they are at least trying to ensure tickets are made available to actual real fans. Fortunately (some would say, some would say not) we aren't in Aston Villa's position and you can lend season tickets as long as the person using them isn't taking the proverbial i.e. meets the criteria for the age category of ticket. (In this respect I guess there would be no issues for anyone gaining access on a more expensive age catagory season ticket.) I look forward to the day when tickets for a city game are in demand again.
  12. What a great idea. Where do I send my refund request - to Rich Gould or Jon Boy? Additionally, I'd like another six or seven of this season's home games to be refunded. Can I lump them in with the Posh refund request?
  13. Yeah, they derfinately were. Because if they weren't they wouldn't have been so stupid as to have been on the pitch celebrating at the end of the game would they! Or would they?

    Downsy

At some point Lisa Knights was appointed above him, and I think the appointment of Downsy would be more likely her sort of thing. I credit AB with too much common sense for that sort of misstep.
  15. Well, your agrument is completely sensible. But obviously the point of the Premier League is to create wealth for it's member's, and they collectively decided to mitigate against relegation to the EFL by ensuring that they had a big bag of money if they got relegated so they could keep their best players and likely make a swift return to the Premier League.
  16. And it's not like meat eaters don't ever eat something that hasn't got any meat in it. Put the boot on the other foot and it won't fit. In fact, I had to stop eating my 'Beyond Meat' burger in the Drawbridge last week because it tasted like meat to me. I mean I haven't eaten meat for nearly 30 years so I guess it was just a psychological issue
  17. Is it just mean, or does anyone else think Dean Holden and Micheal O'Neill look like they could be related?
  18. Yep. Reach plc is the common denominator here. I sometimes wonder whether there is a real local paper left in this country. Maybe there's one in Royston Valley?
