  1. It's something when this happens to a Championship team (ahem!). It's something else when it happens to possibly the richest/best supported team in World Football. Just think, they'd have been better off with an LJ/Swiss Tony combo
  2. Steady on. I think they'd give us a half decent game.
  3. I think Pearson would walk if Lansdown interferred with first team coaching appointments. Outside of appointing 'heads of' on the football side, I'd hope lessons had been learned and the board/SL don't have any meaningful input on football recruitment except to agree budgets and an overall recruitment stratagy (if we ever get one). Re McAallister - Possibly U23 coaching recruitment is up to Tins?
  4. An embalmed fly in a spider's web and about to be dinner would still have a more nuanced player recruitment strategy than LJ or Swiss Tony.
  5. I expect he's renewing for similar reasons - "I took him to his first game in 1973, I can't abandon him now ..."
  6. Did the goalie prevent a goal being scored? Yes? Would it be fair if she was sent off? Morally, yes. But the referee's job it to apply the laws of the game, and there is no offence against an opposition player under the rules. I wonder if we have the footage directly after this just to see whether the referee managed to restart the game correctly with an indirect free kick to the attacking team. It was close to the most idiotic goal kick of all time though, but didn't beat one I took in 1987 leading to an easy goal for the opposition
  7. https://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/lawsandrules/laws/football-11-11/law-16---the-goal-kick "If, after the ball is in play, the kicker touches the ball again before it has touched another player an indirect free kick is awarded" No mention of a caution or sending off being an option. The latter part of the goal kick law then goes on to state: "If a player enters the penalty area before the ball is in play and fouls or is fouled by an opponent, the goal kick is retaken and the offender may be cautioned or sent off depending on the offence." (So it clearly does consider and state under when circumstances a sending off can be made under this part of the rules.) So I would say that the referee got it wrong and any suspension will be overturned on appeal.
  8. That's about the limit considering how the ground is "configured" and allowing for their two away fan sections. We'll see what their attendances are like once they move to the banana skin stadium ...
  9. Entered on my ignore list under a former name, but I've no idea what it was.
  10. Maybe you're right, but if I can find what I think I saw I'll post details (edit: The chances I thought they had didn't make the Sky highlights. Can I retract my post )
  11. Don't worry @Olé, we'll make do with NTTDS shadow from the second dog photo
  12. I thought they had two massive chances - one in both halves - that they should have taken. Both seemed easier than any of our chances, I wonder would the xG is because I feel it was quite low but likely to be +0.5/1.0 to their advantage. I suppose who cares 'cus we won, right? Also glad to see you so confident about a must win game for Sheffield United. I mean, it would be magic to royally screw with their play off chances, but when do we do anything other than turn over in these circumstances?
  13. CREDIT/DEBIT CARD FOUND AT ASHTON GATE One of my family picked up a credit/debit card (not sure which) walking through the car park/marina dolman way this morning (16/4/2022). It belongs to a lady with initials "GM". I guess it's likely to have been dropped during the rugby last night, hence I'm postiung here. The card was handed to a member of the Brsitol Sport cleaning staff who said she would pass it on to the security team so it should be retrievable if required. I would be grateful if some kind soul could repost (or link) this message to a Bears fans forum for maximum exposure. I'm quite happy to do this myself if someone could point me in the right direction of their main forum. Thanks very much.
  14. Goals for next season: 1. Reduce the weekly wage bill considerbly (say by 50k+ a week); 2. Improve the squad 3. Play better football (speed, movement, patterns of play, defending) 4. Finish middle third,
  15. Town chief executive Mark Ashton said: “The club would like to place on record its gratitude to Lee for his support over what has been a period of transition. Lee’s role has changed in several ways over the past year, and he felt it was the right time to pursue other opportunities. Sounds like Swiss gradually removed anything to do with football operations from the job, and probably gave him menial tasks to force his hand: "Lee, the toilet in my exectutive office is blocked again ..."
  16. It was on the OS last week. I remember because I noticed there was no maximum age for joining in the easter egg hunt: thought about blagging an entry, but realised I would have got shown up by your average 5 year old.
  17. Herbalife MLM is still where it's at then.
  18. Close there, but no cigar. 0-1 FT. Not much in it - probably worthy of a draw if it wasn't for our poor finishing.
  19. The effects mike is about 5 seconds behind the play. It keeps catching me out. Damn should have scored there!
  20. It was indeed! Well done. I was in the boys enclosure for that one. Haven't been able to spot myself on the highlights, although I'm not entirely sure I can remember what a ten year old me looked like.
  21. Come on, out with it. You can't keep us dunces in the dark!
  22. Sorry, you've shaved the outside of the post. This one was slightly later, and Big Match (I think) highlights are on youtube. I think we went 1-0 down, and Tom Ritche scored at least one goal (I used to think he scored a hattrick, but I think I was wrong). I don't think you can insert spoilers in these posts - if you want another go I'll put you out of your misery after.
