  1. Thing is here, can you imagine the Brummies in the sex shops? ”Alroite, I’d loike your biggest dildo bab” ”No problem babby, is it for some hard anoil” ”Nah babs, that’d be bostin but it’s to lob on the pitch at the blooows” ”You’re a louying bastard babs, but I’ll sell you it and when you use it you’ll be blartin” ”Alroite, I’ll have it. G’d bye t’Jane” Methinks it’s a way for the adult shops in small Heath to increase sales…
  2. Normal. See game vs Arsenal earlier in the season:
  3. 1995. Matt Jackson after we dominated the entire game, they went on to win the cup. Then in 1999 we lost 2-0 to them, Ibrahima JohnandYoko scoring twice late on
  4. I’d agree with the Brentford shout here. I think Watford and Norwich are nailed on, and it’s between Leeds and Brentford for the last place for me. In terms of “like” to go down, I’d like it to be Leeds, because they are just bloody annoying, but think the Bees are in as bad a tailspin
  5. Bring on a keeper for the penalty shoot out, doesn’t save any of 11 and misses his. Cant make that up
  6. Nothing to see here IMO. Ignore the “sport” angle and what you have is someone who left an organisation (Liverpool) where they’d been working for some time for a better opportunity. A role akin to their current job has now come up at the prior organisation (which is bigger than new employer) they can move back to a company they know, on more money than when they left, and hit the ground running. Happens all the time in the real world.
  7. The club have actually done a lyric video… I’m willing to bet they don’t do the same for “City boys are on a bender…”
  8. With all due respect, this is a touch naive. Should Russia play international football, and win, it will be spun as a victory for the might of the Russian nation. In effect, by letting them compete, it allows them to release propaganda off the back of it. It would be the same for any Russian based teams in things like the Europa League. I feel for the players, it isn’t their doing, but you have to not let Russia compete for the above reason.
  9. I go with ADIEU, mainly for the knocking out four vowels and a common consonant at first pass as opposed to hoping it’s right! I then do, if that’s not helped massively TORES as that gives the other vowel and three common consonants. Find if I’ve then got 9/26 letters knocked off in two passes solving in 3 or 4 becomes fairly straightforward (most of the time)
  10. I think that this is always one of the problems. The other is that you end up with one a game at times, and people therefore become less likely to hear they’re happening and even to partake. It’s difficult because all of these are done with best intentions but you end up with some people having less recognised applause, some with none at all, and everyone’s loss hurts. The club did, I think, a fantastic job with the Swansea game acting as the memorial match this year and I think that is a great way of paying tribute to the reds we’ve lost - I hope it’s going to become an annual event as it was hugely affecting.
  11. Haven’t listened yet but god help me, when I listened to Ian on Radio Bristol last night I pretty much agreed with every word. He was balanced, fair, and called the game pretty much spot on I can only assume someone was holding his family hostage.
  12. Alex Scott is the best attacking midfielder at the club Alex Scott is the best central midfielder at the club Alex Scott is the second best defensive midfielder at the club (and that’s close) Alex Scott is the best Right Wing Back at the club Replace club with division and it’s still true. It’s mental.
  13. Procol Harum lead singer and pianist Gary Brooker, age 76. Fantastic story follows:
  14. To be fair, I didn’t read it as digging - and it’s not an unfair question. What is probably true, bearing in mind where they went after, is that the 8 were probably past their best collectively. There’s a debate to be had as to whether the whole situation took it out of them desire wise, but it isn’t as if they were playing below what was probably their level at the time. I think it also has to be noted that the gap between Division 1 to 2 and 2 to 3 wasn’t the chasm it is now. Once you have downward momentum it’s hard to arrest it, as Wolves also showed shortly thereafter. The folly of the long contracts has also been covered - and it’s important to note they were well, but not excessively paid. Certainly it wasn’t “don’t work again” money. I think the broader answer to your question is that if we plummeted with Palmer, Wells, Kalas, Weimann, James etc - well paid experienced players - it’d be more of a case to answer than the “8”, as those players are both paid well enough to never have to work again, and are at clearly a level above the bottom two divisions. So, I read it as an unfortunate mixture of players all declining together and colossal mismanagement. But there was also never going to be vitriol at Mann, Merrick, Tainton etc in view of club service prior. I should say here that I was only 4 at the time of the “8”, but from my knowledge of football at the time and reading, the above makes sense.
  15. Can I just say, Casa-Grande has replaced Forbes as my favourite named player ever.
  16. Shearer highlighted it on match of the day - well worth seeing on catch-up as the analysis is spot on, both pointing to problems in Lukaku (not making runs, demanding ball etc) and in Havertz etc (not looking up, putting the ball into areas etc). Pulls up fault on both sides but the overall conclusion seems to be something is broken.
  17. Jeez, this is hard work: - MacAnthony will likely appoint McCann. He’s worked there before and is available - Lee Johnson is however a viable candidate at Peterborough. He’s just been subject to an insane sacking at Sunderland, a job he held for more than 6 months, delivering a trophy and the best winning percentage of any manager they’ve had since hitting that level - Because of that record, his next job will be better than mid table league two, which is where Bradford are. Doesn’t matter what his odds were there - he was never going there, hence he’s drifted (you see this all the time - the odds for unrealistic candidates are short at the start as fans put money on in hope and the odds are a function of that, not likelihood of appointment) - Dean Holden is not a viable candidate at Peterborough. Despite him having club connections, there are no whispers of him being in the running, and he was a car crash in his only job at this level. Hence he’s not in the odds at all (whereas people like Holloway are!) - So, in summary, Johnson wasn’t sacked in six months at Sunderland and has a stock in the game which means he’s viable for Peterborough but unviable for Bradford. Holden has no stock in the game for a managerial job at this level Dean Holden will not be the next Peterborough manager. I know you think it’s worth a bet, but save your money.
  18. I’m not sure why you’re trying to start an argument here? My first shout (yesterday) was Grant McCann, he’s the favourite and rightly so. Johnson is a realistic shout for them (he isn’t for Bradford - see the Sunderland thread for thoughts on that) and the price reflects that. The fact that Holdens not in the betting despite the bookies knowing, as both you and I know, that MacAnthony likes people with existing club connections, probably iterates that it’s only you who thinks it’s a good shout. I’d disagree entirely with the shout, and wouldn’t think Posh fans would be that enamoured either. I think you’re way off beam with the shout, and again, if he’s appointed I’ll give you the money myself.
  19. Although odds aren’t everything, Holden doesn’t even feature in the betting. LJ is joint second favourite, with Evans and Warnock at 8/1. Grant McCann 6/4 favourite. If it’s Holden, I’d give you the money myself.
  20. Ah, Gary Owers and Martin Kuhl in midfield. Brings back memories.
  21. I think you’ll find that’s an erection son.
  22. So, having come late to this thread it appears the position is that Bideford have some floodlights that have no connection to us whatsoever, that ours were once at Wigan but definitely aren’t now and nobody has a clue what the various people at Bideford are smoking. That about it?
