  1. This is actually one of those moves I like to see, and I assume it doesn’t hurt that Arter came from non league originally. Most players would quite happily sit and take the wage, and at the age of 32, wouldn’t be putting themselves up as a target to be kicked in non league. He clearly wants to play and doesn’t care who for, he just wants a game. That’s one of a dying breed of ex prem players with the money in the game these days. Good luck to him.
  2. Thinking about it a city Irish XI is the stuff of nightmares. GK - Gilmartin RB - Ryan McGivern LB - Cunningham (good, but nob) CB - ?? CB - ?? LM - O’Dowda RM - Sproule CM - Tommy Doc (he’d go mental in this company) CM - John Burns?? CF - Andy Smith CF - Andy Keogh (think he played on loan?) Bejaysus it’s bad
  3. The “behind closed doors” aspect (which I’d flagged as likely on cup games when sanctions were announced) was always going to happen. There are a couple of aspects here though… - Boro sold tickets before the sanctions were announced. Therefore they act as a “pre sanction” revenue stream for Chelsea under the split Steve identified, and are perfectly allowable under the sanctions regime. It’s the same as Chelsea being allowed to admit season ticket holders to all intents and purposes - And here’s the rub. If Chelsea are successful in their representation, it naturally follows that any pre existing tickets sold should not be honoured as away fans can’t buy tickets to provide revenue to Chelsea (thereby reducing sporting integrity). So they would be duty bound to play any game behind closed doors. Thereby refusing to admit any season ticket holders. Not very bright these cockernees….
  4. And this is why people need to see things like the Louis Britton decision for what it was. Bell and Conway ahead of him, Palmer-Holden coming up in the u23s. It’s actually better in the long run to release the players that, although having ability, cause a logjam in the pathway as they’re just not likely to make it for our level. James Morton is a great example here - he’s now unlikely to get in at a pro club in view of his age, and is not making it here. Pearsons expressed a view that at 19 you need to be in or around the first team to have a chance of making it. There will be Reid’s that disprove that, but as a general position, it makes sense to clear all but the marginals out at the age of 20ish for both us and their sake
  5. Just as a mods request. Now this has come back up the post listing can we change the title to “Bournemouth“. It’s doing my OCD no good at all!
  6. Jesus, there’s a blast. Wasn’t @SaulGoodman a Barnsley fan as well? Odd pair.
  7. I can only think it wasn’t given as a red because the goal went in. If you look at the angle of his leg, it’s nowhere near the trajectory of the ball. If that was two outfield players and nowhere near the goal, it’d have been a red. The only plausible reason here is that they bottled the decision because the ball went in the net - had it rolled wide, I’ve got no doubt he’d have walked.
  8. Massengo 6?!? Same grade as Wells & Weimann?!? ”I’ll have what he’s drinking”
  9. Agree with all stated. When the story of Wells here is written, it’ll be that we signed a player that wasn’t right for us and us not right for him, but he didn’t sulk (notwithstanding demeanour!) gave his best when called upon but ultimately wasn’t a “fit”. Not his fault, Ashton and LJs fault, but I find it hard to question his attitude
  10. Just a question. What do you have against BAKER not to put him in CAPITALS
  11. As with anything, there are multiple causes: - A move to 3-5-2 - Playing against a team with a current horrific goal scoring record - Bentley saving a penalty - Return to fitness (and very good game) from Atkinson - Assured debut from Cundy Theres nothing to say Kalas (fully fit) playing instead of one of the three at the back wouldn’t have produced the same result.

I don’t like posting threads that are critical of players as we all have bad days at work - but that was genuinely one of the worst days I can remember Han-Noah having. Even before the penalty (which was needless), every time he had the ball he gave it away. Nothing was coming off, even simple 5 yard passes. I don’t think it’s anything like angling for a move, because I don’t see that in his character to date, but clearly, he’s woefully out of form and if today is reflective of how he’s been in training the selection last week of half fit James and Williams makes a degree more sense. Just hope it’s a very small blip in development.
  13. Not going to go OTT on hyperbole, but that was a very strong debut. Solid, played a man who was quicker than him very intelligently and didn’t let much past. Very good today (as were both Atkinson and Klose) Done himself no harm there.
  14. The answer, in physical form, is wheels. However. In life, we have the ability every day to go through a door. When you make any decision, you go through a door to the rest of your life - be that a door to a new career, a door to a new relationship, or simply a door to being kind. Non-physical, but psychological, doors are everywhere and present the gateway to the future. So, on a theoretical basis, there are infinite doors without the same parallel for wheels, which makes the answer doors. But, it’s wheels. Hope this clarifies.
  15. Posted yesterday in the Bournemouth thread as had the same trouble. In simple terms, the version of Worldpay the club use is not compatible with new security protocols put in by most UK banks, so no payments can currently be made online/over the phone. Yesterday, rang the club and they reserved the tickets for payment and collection in person at WBA game. Short term solution is ring the club. But I’d imagine they’re getting it sorted…
  16. On a related subject, what the hell is Andy Llewellyn (at least I think it is but also has a touch of Gavin) doing here?
  17. Just spoke to the club. There is an issue with their version of Worldpay and it’s compatibility with various Banks new security systems. If you have tickets in your basket, but can’t complete the transaction, ring the club. I did and they’ve arranged for my tickets to be picked up and paid for at the WBA game.
  18. I think issue on ticketing site. I was on at 10am and got three in basket but the transaction won’t complete. Tickets keep coming back on site which suggests others have the same problem. Got mine in basket, reserved for further 10 minutes but worldpay will not complete the sale (yes I have funds…!)
  19. Apparently derived his wealth from unusual means - he started out in business as a granny farmer, was infamous for 15 minutes and then appeared on Panorama. Not sure if that means he can be sanctioned.
  20. So, aside from not producing programmes and no “on the day” sales (assumedly including away fans - which may even advantage Chelsea), it’s a bit BAU for this season. Possibly exception of Champions League - although fans may have contractual option to buy if hold ST, as that’s not revenue/sale agreed yet (as the game is theoretical), I read that those are behind closed doors. The big hit is in the summer - can’t take new deals in Sponsorship, sell next seasons tickets (so behind closed doors until sale) can’t receive (as I read it) any money from a TV deal that isn’t in place currently. Not sure from that how it impacts contract renewals/sales of players in future - I think it looks like an embargo as the fees weren’t agreed pre sanction. Its late, but at least it’s there
