  1. Pretty much. Again though that’s just my reading.
  2. Favourite quote: “Data’s data but if you look at the shots across the game their xG was 0.48 lower than it normally is. I know people are gonna say you lost the game and conceded two” (Tbf it’s actually his best conference yet helped by some decent questions about why we went long on Tuesday, what’s driven the odd subs etc)
  3. That in itself seems pretty odd. I’m prepared to be wrong but I thought pretty much every Saturday game we had a Thursday presser, or at least a Thursday Dave Barton throwing buffet deliveries. As we played Tuesday it isn’t even a case of a quick turnaround Anyone know when we didn’t last have one of the above pre a Saturday game, because it’s odd and gives the impression of battening down the hatches/avoiding scrutiny in view of the pressure currently (but if they’re spending time working on something that gets us 3 points Saturday I have no objections!) Edit - now online, just a tardy media team it appears. I’d still not object to them not doing one and taking extra time on the training pitch though!
  4. As you rightly point out it can mean different things but I think you have to revert to what it means to a layman. The phrase “on the front foot” per the English Dictionary means “at an advantage, outclassing and outmanoeuvring one’s opponents”. So, per the dictionary, a slow, patient, passing approach could be “on the front foot” even when operating passively. So, the dictionary is no help! I think a layman would consider front foot football as being one word in the main “assertive” - ie probing with pace, putting another team under pressure, playing with intent while having more of the ball You’ll never get a definitive answer agreed by all. But that I think is how most would consider the wide principle.
  5. Thats a joke position. When the hell are Rovers going to progress to the 4th round or beyond of the FA Cup?
  6. It’s fair to say that Joe wouldn’t back down from anyone on a touchline. Even people who had a reputation for being a bit hard…
  7. Yep but those are more obvious. It probably would have been given without VAR - it’s the case it goes through so many players for the second touch that makes it a bit unique
  8. Nope not classed as offside, but if you take any dead ball then someone else has to touch it first before you can touch it again. It’s a heck of a spot.
  9. Watch this clip, don’t read the comments to give the game away. The goal was disallowed correctly - anyone want to say why?
  10. Bloody legend. I remember Joes home debut which I think was against Doncaster. We won 5-0 and Walshie scored a hat trick but he was nowhere near MOM as Joe was that good. And as I said the other day, if he doesn’t move to Hearts we would have been promoted. That 89/90 season is one of the best teams city have ever had. Pace down one wing with Smith, guile down the other with Gavin, Super Bob and carnage up top. Gary Shelton and Rennie bossing the midfield, Psycho Humphries and Biff at the back, Johnny Bailey, Andy Llewelyn, even Sinclair was ok (preferred leaning). If you weren’t there, you can have no idea how exhilarating it was. ”Pick….that one out of the net you boys from Crewe”
  11. I think this looks like pretty much a non story. They’ve transferred a non majority shareholding, stated it in accounts, but not informed the EFL. There is no intent to mislead or to gain an advantage, it’s a technical breach at best. Sorry for being a party pooper
  12. Hey Jon and Brian You must be out of your tiny minds!
  13. And to be fair I brought up Ipswich for two reasons - the fact they’re so noticeable on the chart and the fact that Manning is seen as part of the McKenna “tribe” - my Ipswich mate thinks LM is the closest coach to KM and was gutted when we got him as they hoped he’d still want to move if McKenna got poached But Dave I’m far more interested in this comparison still. To use the parlance we’re on. Journey but this may help highlight the likely destination.
  14. It’s old ground but John Ward admitted he was out of his depth (and he was) and needed help, wanting Ray Harford. Benny was hired because of his expertise in youth development and wide ranging experience as both a wise head for Ward and to bring the club forward. It was a progressive appointment and he certainly brought youth through when he unintentionally became manager after Ward threw a hissy fit. If anyone’s to blame for that season it’s Ward and not Benny.
  15. To be fair, I think most companies do in all walks of life. To admit things aren’t right is to admit weakness and a lot of people don’t like to do that. You can appoint people on the basis to sort things out, but I think a far more common scenario is that employees join companies without a full handle on the inner workings. Again, working on the assumption LM did the due dilligence I don’t think that would have uncovered the depth of feeling. You’re then left with really two scenarios from Jon and Brian’s part: - They didn’t understand the depth of feeling and are absolute boneheads (Tecknikally) - They did understand the depth of feeling but thought LM would get some quick results to bail them out, not realising LM would impose a new style on the team immediately which made that less likely (In which case they didn’t do their research and again, have the collective brain power of a team of Joey Barton’s)
  16. One things for sure, our play is far from “Greased Lightning” at the moment….
  17. Then why couldn’t Joey Barton do it? ANSWER ME THAT!!!
  18. It’s an often made point recently but I am firmly of the mind that Liam is switched on enough to do due diligence and would have some idea of what he was walking into. But I’m increasingly of the mind that he couldn’t have anticipated the depth of it. We’re now six weeks from Niges sacking and it feels as raw as ever on here. Any coach would be stunned by that. Question is, who could have told him without making him say “Nah mate, not for me” Dont get me wrong I think Liam isn’t helping the scenario by the decisions he’s making currently - but he’s the only one that can turn this around and reduce the heat on Jon and Steve (edit - and Brian. Trying to forget he exists), and if he is “rabbit in headlights” that helps not one person.
  19. Yeah but… <Pauses to derail thread> I’d love that, I really would and I hope Nige gets to come back to BCFC and say goodbye properly to the fans. It’s the least he deserves. But songs for Nige on Saturday, even if that’s not the intent, will be seen as slighting Manning and add further pressure to someone who’s having a tough time that we want to succeed. Lets not, and instead hope we get the chance to see him at the gate soon and show our appreciation. <Stops derailing thread; as you were>
  20. Just to say this is nice. If Nige does keep an eye on OTIB I’m sure he’d be delighted that the regard he’s held in has only gone up, and this feels like a pre Christmas reminiscing thread out of the immediate heat of the sacking. I hope he reads it, I hope he appreciates it. ”On and on we seem to go But you don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone”…
  21. Please don’t turn this into a board slating, ranting at Tins thread. Just nice to see and hopefully on the road to recovery
