Well played lads. Done well to compete effectively in 3 matches v PL teams with 1 goal against.

Florist making changes - the two on yellow cards taken off.

Passing it really well. Enjoyable to watch. From that half, you wouldn’t think they are a division above us. Final ball/cross needs to be better though - for example, as Manning said in the week, that’s where Pring needs to improve; he gets into some great positions.

It's great to see a manager go at the right time for himself. It's such a a ruthless world to work in as we see every single season.
He seems like a really decent bloke and there would be very few people who wouldn't want him as the England manager.
Agree.

Disagree. I thought the interview - the full, long one - was refreshingly honest and open. Don’t hear many managers leaving a club on their own terms citing that they don’t have the energy to give it their all beyond this season and would like a break/to do other things before they are too old. Some people would keep taking the pay cheque, take their foot off the gas and rely on the team around them.

Shame Semenyo didn’t come on for a full house of 5 ex City players.

Their record fee isn’t that much though. From the Post article:
“There is always debate regarding what actually is the League One club's record transfer fee, although it is still generally believed to be £370,000 paid to Queen's Park Rangers in 1992 for Andy Tillson.”

Antoine to come on in the second half and get a hattrick!

Think there will still be the same slots for Championship games (Fridays, Saturday lunchtimes, occasional Sundays early and the odd Monday). Guess they will have the additional games on red button mostly on Saturdays. Argument being it's less disruptive moving kick off forward a bit than changing the date.
I think I read that because so many games will be live that kick off times and dates will be decided a long way in advance. This should at least allow a bit of planning.
Yes good point - that will help. I think I read that all the games until Christmas would be locked down before the start of the season.

Rights issues etc.
Matter for the EFL and broadcasters, in this instance the BBC to thrash out.
It’s odd though isn’t it - you can listen to a league match on local radio (DAB or FM - so nearer the ground) but not on that same radio station’s internet feed. Is it because of overseas rights, ie because internet is available anywhere in the world, the concern is it might harm the overseas TV deal?

This has got to have an impact on whether season ticket holders will be able to attend every match (if they choose to buy in the first place). So expect more moans about empty seats in the South Stand!

Caught up with Monday’s Sound of the City on BBC Sounds. Good interview with Russell Osman. Interestingly he said he knows Liam Manning well (presumably from the Ipswich connection).

It worked last Tuesday!
I was surprised Manning changed formation v West Ham but I can only assume he wanted to try something different given the consecutive performances v Birmingham, Millwall and Preston and no goals scored. But given it went well as you say, it wasn’t really a surprise that he went with it again v Watford.

I feel LM is still finding his feet and with a new man in Twine and our injury list starting to return for duty . It gives LM a nice problem on team selection. I think it is going to be interesting yo see how it develops. I do feel managers and players need to be able to change formations and tactics mid game often getting the players brave and competent enough to make these decisions mid game. That's your really good sides in my book.
Looking forward to the rest of the season and always hopeful for upcoming cup game.
Entirely agree. Suspect we’ll see different formations if fit players allow.

It’s bigger than just the problems with VAR. The article is highlighting that the game is splitting into two different games - one with VAR and one without. We were playing a different way to West Ham because they are used to VAR and we aren’t. There were some things that we did that we would not have survived VAR. I much prefer it without VAR.

Harry’s such a nice welcoming guy. Whenever he comes on I really want him to score! Such a team player.

Seems like a great kid, enjoyed watching him on Tuesday. Also born exactly a year to the day after I was, must be where he gets his talents.
Loved this press conference. It may be the red wine, but I felt quite emotional listening to what he went through and his response to it. I love his attitude and hope he is a success here - he deserves it. I liked what I saw on Tuesday from him.

Excellent article. Hadn’t really thought about it in these terms - different games, one with VAR and one without - but having thought about it, this really sums up why I don’t like VAR. Link to article here:

Don't even think of Florist as a Prem club.
It’s because of the recent league one days I think. Of course they seemed bigger when I was a kid (Clough and European cups).

Was told by someone at the club that the camera angle is not acceptable if we get to the promised land, however it is serious ££ to alter so won’t be done unless we do the unthinkable… personally I don’t like it at all, but I don’t watch us on to too much
Hopefully it stops us getting VAR

I saved my ticket onto my phone, so didn’t need to try and download. Surely this is the sensible thing to do, especially if you’ve got multiple tickets to scan?
Yes I saved my ticket to the Apple Books app on my iPhone and just opened it from there - worked fine.

Agree with that. It’s the decision making in the final position that’s the issue, eg Bell passing to Anis instead of shooting, Pring stepping over for Wells tap in, better crosses etc.
