  1. Grateful for info from those of you who have said you have bought/renewed more than one season ticket. Is it possible to own more than one season ticket in your own name, or do you have to have each ticket allocated to a different person with a different supporter ID (e.g. each ticket in a different family member’s name)? Reason I ask is that the season ticket Q&A (copied below) suggests that you can own more than one season ticket but when I spoke to the ticket office they said I would need to create a new Bristol Sport account in a different person’s name (eg in name of my wife) to do so. So I’d be interested to know if anyone does own more than one season ticket (in their own name). Many thanks.

    13. Will I be able to purchase an additional Season Ticket?
Yes, you will be able purchase additional Season Tickets, subject to availability, from the General Sale period starting Tuesday, April 12th at 10am.

And I would also add there are a lot of decent clubs,  (size, management/owners and history) down there. If we do go down in the next season or two I don't think we will bounce back as quick as some might hope.

Agree. I also think that given our current predicament relegation (lower income etc) would be even more of an issue financially than it has in the past - potentially disastrous.

Personally I think it was easier supporting the struggling side back in the 80s.

We knew exactly the situation and there was no pretence. It was a struggle...but a backs to the wall struggle with nothing. No expectations.

    Now it's the opposite.

Expectation after expectation. Rammed down our throats in the last decade. That we are Prem in the waiting.

New stadium, new facilities, new training ground...to attract better quality players and management etc. To facilitate the Prem dream.

But what does it really encourage?

It shows that you can earn a very good living at this level without having to bust a gut. Everything done for you, the best of everything. It shows/showed you can earn 20k, own a flash car, be mediocre and Bob about in the Championship...knowing full well, that you'll get a similar contract elsewhere at another Championship team, if you so desire. Just because you've played  at this level.

These players are pretty much made now for life. Without breaking a sweat.

How do you motivate players to do better, when it's so easy, if you have this level of talent, to not rest on your laurel's?

The mind set is massively wrong.

You turn up in your flash car, mobbed by adoring fans, youngsters wanting your autograph and selfie. Worshipped. Looked after like a thoroughbred race horse, train a bit, rest a lot...and then go through the motions on the pitch.

And there are no consequences to those actions.

    Everything sets a bad example.

I think this is what Pearson was referring to when he said ‘passive’.

The majority of the fans don't but the club certainly do. Listening to Jon in January suggests within the club they rate the squad higher than their current position.

I trust Pearson’s judgment on rating the players on their ability to perform consistently well at championship level over anyone else at the club. And I reckon that is partly what Pearson is referring to when he says the club is passive, i.e. too accepting of the status quo/mediocrity.

How many times have we seen a player step up in this division for us, then dip 5 or 6 games in?  Sometimes you get through those early games on adrenaline, but you can’t keep it up…need a little reset, then go again.  The demands of playing plus training at this level, especially for Robbie, is a new encounter.

Cundy yesterday looked like his body was letting him down.  He hasn’t as slow on the turn in previous games.  Body might’ve been pushed a bit too far over recent weeks.  It happens.

I also think we are seeing this a bit with Scott, lost his spark after a great first season.  I said if he got 1k minutes this season it would be some achievement.  He’s played almost 2.5k!!  That’s massive.

Again, I think Semenyo has lost a tad too….playing centrally and being duffed up my CBs is different to playing wide.

Both players will “come again”.  Same with Pring.

    I hope Cundy does too.

But dips in form for players playing their first time regularly at this level happen.  Normally a manager has a squad that can pull them out at the right times.

This is part of the reason why Pearson should have more time - the calls for his sacking are premature and don’t reflect the reality of the situation. We have quite a lot of players who are are inexperienced at this level - hence their inconsistency. Pearson has talked about this. Pearson is looking at which players can improve to become consistent performers at this level and which ones he needs to ship out. I think he has a better understanding of what it takes to be a consistent performer at this level than a lot of previous managers. Just a question of whether, due to our financial constraints, he can make the changes we need - and how quickly. If anyone thinks we will be challenging for the play-offs for next season that is unrealistic in my view.

Whenever I see" happy clappers" I reach for my revolver?

Stats are only as useful as the accuracy and context of the data.

GJ, Cotts, etc all managed mostly at league one where we would be perceived as bigger club with better resources and their results should have reflected this which is why Mcinnes for instance was so disappointing.

It took Cotts, my personal favourite,  to actually walk that walk.

There's only Pearson and LJ who have meaningful stats at this level and LJ wins that one but we all know the context is different.

Don't get me wrong,  it's been poor and I'm not a massive fan of big Nige, but let's be realistic about our actual situation....

To be fair to GJ, he was with us in the championship longer than league one, including getting us to a play off final of course.

  7. I certainly wasn’t expecting us to spend much this summer. To do so would be unrealistic. And I prefer that Pearson tells it how it us and is up for managing us taking account of how it is - and acting responsibly for the sake of the club. I’ve also never understood the  blaming of the club for a person’s decision not to renew a season ticket - ‘I’m not not enjoying it because Pearson/Lansdown have done/not done X and therefore I’m not renewing my season ticket’. In terms of the football, there is always something to enjoy - especially in the Championship which is one of the best leagues in the world. So I have renewed my season ticket for next season. I have not had a season ticket every season since I started watching in the mid 70s. When I have not renewed in the past, it was down to other family commitments, financial constraints, living away etc. So I can understand people having their reasons for not renewing. However I think that when someone blames the club for that decision, it is just their way of trying to find extra reasons/moans to grab onto by way of justification and so I tend not to take much notice of it!

Yet so many idiots do not understand what a £38 M loss really means . Too many used to signing  many players with fees . Love or hate Nige , he is dealing with an awful situation but is getting in with it . No complaints just strong pragmatism. At least we have a fighter with us . It just amplifies how disastrous the previous regime were . But we will come out fighting . This recovery is going to take time , the priority is not being relegated , then we can breathe and build . Build with inventive and hungry players . That will take us far  . We lost our way .

support needed . But when you see players fighting , as fans you get behind it . You cannot underestimate the mess we are sorting

I agree. No moaning about the situation from Pearson - he’ll just deal with it and, as he says in this interview, look out for the best interests of the football club - and to be honest I find that refreshing.

Is anyone seeing an option to pay up front?

I'm only being offered the ability to pay by instalments and incur the £25 fee for that so I'd really rather not!

I had the same issue earlier (instalments the only option). I cleared cookies and tried again later and the upfront payment option did appear and went through ok. Obviously a few gremlins in the system.

    Crikey, do you think so?

They're the games I struggle to get to because of work and motorways forever closing after 10pm.

What with that and the now ridiculous traffic on the M5 for the majority of months nowadays, it’s getting hard work.

I have similar challenges re midweek matches. As I understand it, the World Cup break for the Championship is three weeks so there will be a few matches to squeeze in elsewhere albeit I know we are starting a week early next season (30 July).
