If you extrapolate Derby and Cardiffs results over the season then knock off Derby's deduction then they finish about a point behind Cardiff.
They aren't down yet
I agree. I think Derby will catch Reading (unless they go into liquidation of course). As for us, I’ve never felt we’d be relegated this season - seen enough competitiveness to feel we won’t be in the bottom 3. However, because of our injuries, I do feel we need to recruit a CB this month.

Well battled lads. Crucial win - puts them 10 points below us.

Vyner beaten yet again by a man running behind him ending up yet again facing the goal as someone scores. He is an absolute liablilty one those situations
To me, Vyner just doesn’t look like he has the physicality to play CB. If he plays, I’d rather him RWB or RB - we’re not exactly flush with players for that position. With Atkinson injured though we desperately need to recruit a CB this month.

Atkinson off. Didn’t seem to do it under challenge. Looked like a pull. Shame.

Something else new on the red button - replays.
Not for me although the feed on the sky sports app is about 45 secs behind the TV so I’m using that!

Martin Semenyo partnership I think. Need Martin at set pieces too. Rate it
I think the same - Semenyo and Martin as the front two. I’m assuming Weimann will play just behind them and Scott moved to RWB.

Anyone else had problems? @TomF are you aware of any issues?

Im out the country for this one but nevertheless am very excited. How do people recommend I watch the game? Don't think its on Robins TV and I've read that sky are only showing the Derby game. Is this true?
Any help much appreciated.
It is on Robins TV in UK and overseas. (It’s also on Sky red button but not sure if that works abroad.)

A bit of short term perspective.
Last week, Fulham (9changes) put out a 'decent' Championship team. We competed well, caused problems and dominated the ball for long spells. This week, Full first team out which would probably be lower Prem standard. Our midfield couldn't dominate, the forward line was too good , but we still caused problems.
IMO Pearson made mistakes with the line up, easy in hindsight, but I couldn't see how we were going to win the ball in MF. Very technical side chosen, and in Nige's opinion Vyner had been a stand out CB so chose him over Atkinson. He also wanted COD in the side, which I understand . What I would have wanted, after a very good game last week, why not have - Vyner/Kalas/Atkinson ? Stronger in the air. If you want Pring in, move Vyner to RWB. The only real physical battle we lost yesterday was Mitrovic, who was just too good for all our defence. I don't think we lost out all over.I think Nige is getting stuck between 2 stools. Wanting to get certain players involved, while wanting a system that doesn't suit. Not having a RB/RWB is really causing problems. Simpson must be absolute garbage in training.
Agree that we’re always going to struggle against the better teams with an inexperienced defence and wing backs playing out of their usual position. At the start of this season, who would have thought that Scott, O’Dowda and Benarous would have turned out at wing back and Dasilva would have played RWB? I accept that injuries have played a part, but feel we need to get round pegs in round holes: Pring or DaSilva at LWB/LB and Vyner or Simpson at RWB/RB. Atkinson needs to be playing CB. If we don’t then have enough fit CBs to play 3 at the back, then we might have to go to a back 4 - or ideally recruit some defenders in the window.

Yep, fair comment. I'd take Curtis Davies like a shot for instance.
He has still done a remarkable job with limited resources though.
Agree. They’ve let in 24. We’ve let in 45. Only Posh have conceded more than us. Needs to be the priority this window.

One thing Rooney has proved is that he knows how to organise a defence. Nigel has yet to do the same with ours.
He has had more defensive experience at his disposal though. We are too reliant on younger players or attackers playing at wing back in my view.

I thought I heard in one of the interviews that Atkinson had had covid and was struggling to get back to his peak. Hopefully will come through it shortly though. It is the defence that we need to improve.

We look a better team with him in it, that's the main thing for me.
Agree. His return from injury has been a big factor in our improved attacking displays recently. Both goals were excellent. The defenders couldn’t live with his approach play and then the finishes were class.
