  1. Mushrooms would be appropriate as to grow them properly they should be kept in the dark and fed manure. Just the same as Wael’s plan for the supporters
  2. That was very cruel. AD built a side on a limited budget to get into what was then Division 1 (level 1) and managed to stay there for 4 years. Clarke has done well, but all he has managed to do is get into League 1 (level 3)
  3. I’m sure Rovers would consider going back to a ground share with Bath City, but would Bath want them? In 2016 the Bath City supporters raised sufficient money to turn the club into a community owed asset, and almost certainly wouldn’t want the prospect of Rovers attempting a back door take over. Sharing with Bath Rugby in Bath is also unlikely as their ground owned by a charitable trust Mangotsfield might be an option
  4. Great article you’ve found BS4, Lots of interesting info, but I particularly liked: “Local journalist, Peter Godsiff, had started to make noises about the fact the club had been spending far more than they were bringing in and he even reckoned the operating costs were probably five times the money earned at the gate.” In those days journalists who worked for the Post actually did some investigative journalism, which is totally different to the Post’s attitude now to what is happening at Rovers.
  5. Kieran Agard scores his first goal in 7 months and 20 games for MK yesterday. Not sure what that proves
  6. This states: “We have placed cookies on your computer and store your IP number to give you a better experience of our websites. If you do not approve or want more information, please read more here:” Not sure how this helps City, but things are a bit different in Sweden
  7. I think this saga is shaping up like a re-run of “The Tiger Who Came To Tea”. A story of a tiger who arrives and eats everything in the house (takes all the assets) and then leaves never to be seen again.
  8. Didn’t Francis get a percentage of the transfer fees for each player sold. (This was in the days when their players could be sold for folding money)
  9. This is a very good, concise, summary. As time goes by more and more of the Rovers fans are beginning to realise this. Strange as it may seem, those that don’t accept the facts are acting perfectly normally. Many people don’t want to hear the truth because they don’t want their illusions destroyed. For example, I still believe in Father Christmas, even though many people tell me he doesn’t exist, as what is the point of believing he doesn’t exist? The potential of him being true outweighs the possibility of him being a hoax
  10. I’d totally forgotten that the Coventry v City match in 77 was on a Thursday. What a strange day for the last match of the season. What I’ll never forget is the last 15 minutes after Jimmy Hill had announced the score. Hilarious!
  11. This works if the value of the assets - i e the ground - is greater than the debt - i e the money they have put into the club. If all reports are to be believed, about the rate the debt is increasing, then it won’t be long before the debt is greater than the assets. If the Wael family act quickly and sell then they could break even or make a small profit. If they delay too long then it’s a loss. The problem is finding a buyer. Selling Rovers as a football club for £10m plus would be difficult, so the nuclear option would be administration, the ground is sold and Rovers have to ground share with ???
  12. This is where the whole situation is a bit odd. The mortgage / loan, whatever, used to buy Rovers came from himself and / or the family. The interest payments seem to be going back to himself / the family via Dwane Sports, or possibly used to cover some of the losses. (Perhaps someone else could give a more accurate summary). He hasn’t got the option of putting Rovers into administration to clear the debt as then it is the creditors who lose money and he / his family are the main creditors. But, as you say, with each interest payment it gets worse and he moves into negative equity - i e the value of the asset is less than the total loan
  13. If so he’s got to asset strip very soon. The money he put in to buy the club plus ongoing losses means the total investment must be getting close to the only tangible asset - the land at Filton Avenue.
  14. The longer this goes on, the more I realise how clever Nick Higgs was and how deluded Wael is. Nick Higgs managed to convince Wael that Rovers had a watertight contract with Sainsbury, a new ground was a certainly, megabucks payback was a certainty and he managed to offload the club to him. Normally when there is a takeover of any kind, there is a period of due diligence where the finances of the organisation being taken over are examined in detail. Nick Higgs obviously used the bullsh*t baffles brains technique so that Wael didn’t bother to check the detail
  15. Gas logic would say that only 3 points from a play off place means promotion, which means playing in the Championship next season, which means they are as good as City. Watch out - they are coming for us with their new sprinklers, pies and sponsor’s lounge canopy
  16. How much do you need for new tents and white plastic chairs from B&Q? O.K. you’ve got to plan for a new pie stall and Stanta’s Grotto, but I think £19m is being generous
  17. If you recall, approx 2 weeks ago, they held a free pie tasting evening to decide on the recipe for their new pies. If, as a result, they sell 5000 more pies at each match at a profit of £1 per pie, that provides an extra £5k per match income. Over a 23 match season that generates £115k. Therefore, over approx 173 years the stadium could be rebuilt in easy stages.
  18. Haven’t you heard? The only way is Essex
  19. NTTDS is always out of breath because he’s always running to catch the train.
  20. This season reminds me of the first season in the Championship when Gary Johnson was manager. Then City kept picking up wins in difficult matches against, supposedly, difficult teams. Then we just missed out at Wembley, but can we go one better this season? (Note, I’ve avoided mentioning the “P” word)
  21. An aximious post as always @havanatopia . The only thing that has changed over time, is that last year your posts were much more interesting than the actual City performances. This year the football is often as good as the match day intro
  22. Well at last they've taken a lead over us! Next Tuesday Rovers are holding a free pie tasting event with the sole purpose of improving the club's pies on match days. Come on Bristol Sport get a grip. We can't be left behind in the pie world
  23. It was Twentyman who had a rant. The other person was wrong and Twentyman was right to correct him, but not in the way he did. He was obviously angry and called the person “pal” several times. “Pal” is the sort of name, along with “fella”, we get on the forum when there is a slanging match. Twentyman has had training to do his job and he should remember it and not lose his temper when someone says something that is wrong / he disagrees with. He’s done this before. He should remember the saying “respond don’t react”
