  1. Didn't Design Windows go bankrupt? Very approprite for a Bristol Rovers sponsor!
  2. Quite right Miah old bean. This is not up to the standard of Qubix who sponsor Ashley FC in the Downs League, but Thorntons have got to start somewhere http://www.qubixtech.com/ashley-afc-shirt-sponsors/
  3. There is an undefined date before Jan 2018 that's important. This date is when the building contractor is announced. To ensure the permission doesn't lapse, work must commence before it expires in January. A couple of men can't just turn up with shovels and dig a hole, so Wael must appoint a contractor soon so that they can start work. The longer there is no announcement, the less likely work will start
  4. I met someone in a shop the other day who told me about this poor gnome. Apparently he was standing in his normal place in his garden when another gas gnome came over and said he would duff him up unless he moved. He was so traumatised by this that he's left home and now lives with a kind City supporter.
  5. I'd suggest a lot less. There are various opinions on what is the average weekly salary in league 1, but the site below is reasonable - between £1,700 - £2,500. The problem with averages is that they don't tell you the individual incidences or the range. There will be some clubs with a big budget who have players on much higher salaries and some poor clubs with young players who have lower salaries. Rovers, who are losing money, are not a rich club and have players who were signed in non league or league 2 days. Therefore their average salary should be somewhere near the lower end of the scale http://www.onaverage.co.uk/money-averages/average-premier-league-salary
  6. Bert - I hope you realise that you are on the gas forum hit list because of your insightful comments.
  7. Will this be the Day of the Triffids MK II?
  8. To sell a football club you must first find a buyer. Nick Higgs pulled a fast one to sell Rovers to Wael on the basis of a watertight contract with Sainsburys. Now that has gone, who would buy Rovers?
  9. Nothing adds up with the UWE plans. To make money a club needs to maximise non match day income from conference facilities. Even if, which is doubtful, Rovers could build a 21k stadium for £32m, it would be extremely basic with just seats and a roof. Without the additional facilities there would be little additional income. Then we have the Wonga loan and Nick Higgs and other directors' loans. The Wonga loan would have to have been repaid, and I assume Nick Higgs and co would have wanted their loans repayed if this had happened when they were in charge. Deduct this from the Sainsbury money and it's close to £20m left to build the stadium. The current situation is even worse. The Memorial Stadium would not realise £30m ish if the land was to be used for housing. Maybe only £20m. (Anybody know the value of the land if used for housing?) The Wael family would presumably want to recover the £10m the club has cost them, so that leaves £10m. All the above is just ball park figures, with no ITK info, but plus or minus the odd million or two, I think it's a reasonable guess
  10. I thought that as well. Perhaps it was just gas logic
  11. Rovers got rid of quartered shirts in the 60s because - surprise surprise - they were hard up! They couldn't afford the cost of the quartered shirts, and the new one were cheaper. Remember, this was before shirts were made from plastic, and had to be made from individual sections sown together
  12. Bert - why not come out and admit you're really a lifelong City fan? Your comments are far too sensible for someone of a Rovers persuasion
  13. Latest plans just released - looks as though this is affordable.
  14. It's nearly 20,000 posts. Who's going to push it over the line?
  15. Childish but fun. Someone will do it
  16. Latest on Sky "we will be bringing dramatic news from Bristol shortly" i e Millwall score again to make it 3-4
  17. Only one team in Bristol sold their ground to a dog company. Only one team in Bristol used to have their ground 3 feet under water when the River Frome flooded.
  18. Or looking at this in another way. Would anyone have taken our current position and points at the beginning of the season, after the hype of the summer signing? It's a good point today but we shouldn't be in this position after the summer and January signing sprees. I hope we stay up but find it difficult to be enthused by next season.
  19. It's probably correct to say Blackburn play in quarters as their shirts are in four parts. Two blue sections, one at the front and one at the back, plus two white sections. Hence quarters. Using this logic, Rovers play in octagonal shirts. Typical of Rovers, they don't even know what sort of shirts they wear.
  20. Here are the Chuckle Brothers in the changing room, about to give a motivational team talk before the Preston match
  21. I can remember that when Wael took over he said something on the lines of "the debts have been absorbed". In other words he avoided saying the debts were repaid, but didn't mention where they had gone. The Wonga loan had to be repaid, but the rest have just been transferred from being owed to Nick Higgs to being owed to a shell company in Jersey.
