  1. I often have a conversation with myself as it's very rewarding.
  2. Here's the first part - the children's enclosure.
  3. So Rovers might own the stands but not the ground they are built on?
  4. Perhaps you could do a click and collect.
  5. Good idea, but there would be too many contenders. It would be impossible to produce a short list, just a very long list
  6. Some people may laugh at this, but I don't. It's not funny, it's sad. If this person can be so deluded, his entire life must be a mess. Does he still beleive Santa pops down the chimney every Christmas?
  7. We could almost fit their entire ground capacity into the West Stand.
  8. He was a great player for Hull. At 73 he's obviously too old for City, but I'm sure he could still get into the Rovers team.
  9. Tone - don't spoil the fun by being sensible. This topic is all we have to keep us amused during the majority of the close season.
  10. If the new stadium is going to be a guaranteed success with no risk, why doesn't Wael Al-Qadi borrow the money from his own bank? The bank would charge interest, thereby increasing its profits. As he has a stake in the bank his fortune would increase and he would get a new stadium for free. Simple! (I'm using the Nick Higgs version of logic, not the real world version) I guess the answer is the bank's other owners are not stupid
  11. What, a new Santa's grotto at the Mem?
  12. I agree that he's really a closet red, but he does keep the conversation going, so let's give him a round of applause. Phil - why not come out of the closet? You can do it. We could have a contest on the forum to decide upon your new name. How about "Lifelong Red"
  13. There are plenty of teams in the Suburban League and the Downs League who have won 2 promotions, but they don't claim they are the Barcelona of England. Everything is relative. Lower league success doesn't mean much, particularly when it was achieved by having a better goal difference than Accrington Stanley!
  14. I liked his quote from his tax evasion trial: "I don’t look at my contracts, I don’t read one word, I sign at the bottom. Then my accountant rings up and says, 'Harry you’ve got a £500,000 bonus"
  15. Some people ask why we have this thread. The shear hilarity of just today's posts is the reason. And it will get better when the truth about Wally and his cunning plans emerge.
  16. Replacement for Clarke? It's obvious - John Terry as player manager with Ryan Giggs as first team coach.
  17. I've only got a slight interest in this thread , but I look every time it gets to the top of the forum, in anticipation of some news. There have been so many crazy things that have happened it's worth a look. Unfortunately I'm often disappointed as it's just someone saying they've only posted to say they're not interested! This is like going into a shop and telling the customers that you are not going to buy anything
  18. As Andy Fairweather Low sang; "One step forward, one step back That's what happens and that's a fact." Promotion this season, relegation fight next season. What fun.
  19. Cost comparisons with stadium builds are interesting. If all you want is a few seats the build can be relatively cheap. If you want something that generates income 7 days per week the cost increases significantly, but is better long term. In the Post recently it stated that MK's ground cost approx £40m (several years ago) but Brighton's was almost £100m. You pays your money and you takes your choice
  20. The funding situation is definitely interesting. Steve Lansdown has spent £45m ish just on a ground redevelopment. Two new stands and and extension & refurbishment for a third. Take this figure and extrapolate it and you have the cost of a full size new stadium. If Weal really doesn't have the money I think the options are either sell the Memorial Stadium and use the money to build a basic small ground at UWE or, as you say, stay where they are and just do a tidy up
  21. Time will tell regarding the true motives of the new owners. It may be as it seems and, from a Rovers perspective, all will be well. Unfortunately many clubs have been taken over by individuals and consortiums who promised much and delivered little. In some cases they have delivered less than little as, when they left, the club was in a worse state than when they took over. The key may be the new stadium. How many people know exactly what agreement is in writing between Rovers and UWE?
  22. Good post, as ever, from Havana but he always seem to be going somewhere on a flight or coming back. Perhaps he should change his name to Thereandbackagaintopia (and share some of his air miles with us)
