Meh. We look like conceding goals and just do no5 look like creating much. Not that much in it, but we are poor in the final third, one bit of quality from them and that’s it.

May well come down to straight goal difference now. Interesting aside which may end up a mini storm. England are carrying the flag for the Olympic GB team qualification. Only way for some Scottish players to get to the Olympics now is to get hammered by England therefore.

Isolated at times, could do with more creativity behind them…but tonight for all that we created chances. Good chances. We missed them all. Need one of our forwards to hit a bit of form desperately as sadly there are about 22 sets of fans in this league who see the solution as ‘buy a 20 a season striker in January’. Not that easy and what is letting us down at the moment.

And who would that be on? The players and Manning or those who set those expectations? I think most will give him some time. Three matches, four points pretty much is par. Deserves the same support as any other new manager from us. Some really encouraging signs today, along with some areas that clearly need work. We stick one of our chances we did create in and it’s a different conversation. Movement in first half was as good as we have seen for ages.

As we know, teams like Southampton and Leicester are bitches to play against when a goal down. Much the better side the second half, but did not create huge chances. Across the 90 arguably we created the better chances. Need to find an attacking player who hits a bit of form.

Bit of a curates egg. Some good stuff, some clearly work in progress. Southampton clearly the better side in the second half but still only managed one. We had more than enough chances to put the ball in their bloody net. Not scoring away is becoming a thing. Ho hum. Frustrated more than anything.

Is what it is. Bit of quality. Just need to keep our heads up and do what we have been doing so far.

He has hardly had that many, but I would go further and say it’s one of our best halves this season.

Might well lose in the end, but an extremely encouraging half. Only disappointment is not being a goal or two up.

That is the thing for me. Football is one of the few sports that has a 'live' clock where time is added on at the end. I like the idea in principle, but in practise if a key player is off for ten, its just going to be a license to waste as much time as you can. You can have a 3 minute 'injury' that might get added to injury time, but would presumably still count as sin bin time.

We are a good bellweather of league position at the moment - our record against the top 8 (with Southampton the last we have to play) is from top down L, L, D, L, D, D, L. Not that stellar. Equally, our form against the better teams has been often frankly to look second best, but work hard, hang in there and battle away giving ourselves a chance. Other than a late goal v Cardiff every match has ended up level or a one goal defeat. For comparison, our record against the bottom eight from 17th down with Hudders still to come is L (Stoke, boo!), W,W,W, D, W, W. I suspect there are few teams who have such a run of 'predictable' results in the round. So, form this season would have had us losing this most likely by a single goal and keeping ourselves in it until late on. Equally interesting on their forum they see us as historically a bogey team, being the only team to beat them twice when they last got promoted. Will happily take any kind of positive result.

If its 0-0 in the last minute of injury time and we have possession in their half, the thought 'take it in to the corner you silly bugger' might conceivably cross my mind...
