I suppose at its basic, the very top clubs don't have to? If there is two players with cracking potential, they can wait and then buy the one who continues to become a top top player for stupid money as, well, they have it. In terms of maximising value, we could I suppose draw a top six club in the cup, and he shows then he has got it at that level, which I am sure he does. Personally, I would leave him on the bench.

Had to look, but Sorenson in goal for them that night. Welch for us who played a complete blinder, including from memory saving a penalty. Edit: being a numpty. Yes Kevin Phillips for them up front.

He did not do much, but my abiding memory of Anderson was away v Sunderland. Live on Sky (a rarity for us), where we got completely and utterly stuffed, he comes on at one nil down and belts in an equalizer late on. Good goal, but across the match completely undeserved point. It was a complete robbery, but it was easy to see across the 90 who would finish higher that season.

Only the club know I guess. It could all be signed and sealed and both clubs have agreed to announce this evening for various reasons, it could be somebody else has jumped in, its about to fall over, or he has woken up and thought 'nah'. Inclined to believe the first but who knows. Patience is a virtue of which I am not blessed.

Sadly, yes. Only bit I would quibble with is that we all see ourselves as a sleeping giant. A solid medium sized club would meet most of our own views. Not to say we don't wish for more of course, but I think most of us are pretty realistic about what we have been post WW2. Our biggest advantage over them, is well, we do not have to go home to Luton...

Financially, the value is his wages, although we need some kind of cover. Let’s see what comes out, but would imagine we pushed for something closer to £200k or so, his value in our books. Every reason to wish him luck, and a great contract for him.

Time Since Last Bristol City Penalty

One of those I initially thought ‘well offside’. Looking at that image, as best you can tell feet are level, they would draw VAR lines and maybe show his ‘lean’ is taking him offside. Much closer than I thought. One of those that looks more offside in real time because of the direction players are moving. -

Maybe could have won it in the end, but if you don’t win, don’t lose. Good response to going a goal down, still unbeaten in ‘23, and another point in the survival fund. -

Not great, not rubbish. Looking the more likely a little, would say they have had the best chance. Hopefully we can nick it in the second half. -

I went to church for two years, praying every week to win the lottery. Then one day out for a walk, the clouds parted and the voice of god himself spoke to me…”meet me half way, buy a ticket!”. -

Given our respective records, 1-1 our goal from a penalty, seems nailed on. -

Not been as positive, as well, just before Stoke at home. Had been playing pretty well up to the break and jjust beaten Rotherham away. More than most, Blackburn seem great when ahead and awful chasing a game. However, looking at their probable team some very decent players at this level. Seems a bit of confidence around after two wins. Hopefully we get the breaks today, a good result, and can start looking forward to mid table obscurity. -
Difficulty with all these is knowing what the offer actually is. £10m could mean 'up to £10m' and only a proportion of that is certain. Its fine judgements, his contract is less than Scott's time wise so we need to tread with some care. I am sure the club are aware of all that and are balancing it all as best they can.

Interesting if true. Also has the benefit to him of seeing who is still in the top league.

Pretty sure Gary Williams, who I did see, was son of Alan Williams from the late 50s? I know they both scored and have half a memory they were father and son.
