I agree...what is the point in giving Pearson the window, and then getting rid?   If it was up to me, I would get rid of Pearson right now, with 6 games left, as we are safe.   But that is obviously difficult and   problematic?   Anyway I would still do it, IF i had a young forward thinking coach lined up, BUT this is Bristol City, so  if Pearson walked out of the door tomorrow, the powers that be, would almost certainly have no contingency plan in place............this is Bristol City for pheck sake?  When do we ever plan ahead?

So Pearson stays, BUT after 12 games we still look disorganised, and retain all the faults and problems that exisisted previously, so what do the Lansdowns do?  Bite the bullet, and wait to see if it improves, or realise that we are going nowhere fast, and change the manager?   i am just playing devil's advocate here, and looking at the various scenario's that may play out?   I sincerely hope that Pearson gets it right in the summer, and to an extent turns things around,...   ...       even though i do not rate him, and would like him to go,  but it is all about the team, and not my personal preferences.

The comings and goings, transfers and recruiting will be massive, we just all hope it works out, and that we can watch & enjoy some decent football?

The issue with getting rid of NP as you put it is if, and there’s strong chance it’s the case, that we are hamstrung during the off season and can’t strengthen the team and even end up starting the season with a weaker squad how will you know that the new coach you bring in is any better than just keeping NP. Plus we’d have to pay NP off and would only be able to employ someone out of work

I'm not sure that how your experience 30 years ago has much bearing on how the US currently feels about football.

Obviously football is never going to be as big as the major sports over there, but you only have to look at the attendances in the MLS (and NWSL) to see how much the sport has grown in recent times.

There will definitely be a big (relatively speaking) interest in this game, and the tournament as a whole.

Totally, 94 World Cup was a sell out in huge stadiums. 2026 will very likely be the same.

  3. Seems to be a trend coming back in again. Noticed a few Middlesbrough fans on the pitch at full time trying to get players to give them there shirts.

Also see more fans with placards asking for shirts. Is that more acceptable? Saka gave his shirt to a fan holding a placard asking specifically for his shirt after the Villa game yesterday

The valid criticism of these measures is they're an unfalsifiable blanket measure that permits The Government to accuse pretty much anybody of anything without having first to front evidence substantiating either claim or designation. The only truth in the Act is it's purpose, which is to place pressure on Putin. I'd argue measures taken today are likely to have the exact opposite on those designated.

If any of those designated today have breached any of the specifics listed in the Act (other than the meaningless 'being known to somebody') then The Government should say so, in explicit terms. That they haven't and are unable so to do, go figure?

I get The Government wants to show arms-length support but this Act and it's present implementation is nothing shy of Big Brother  enforcement, exactly the dictatorial behaviour it professes it seeks to address.

The government are secretly loving this as it deflects everything away from there pants management of covid and the whole party gate palava.

They’re  all in with this sanctions and rattling sabres stuff but not so keen on actually helping Ukrainians fleeing there country

  5. Does anyone know what the state of our scouting network is at present and does all off it come under FFP spending as well.

We need to come to terms now with the fact that we won’t be able to complete due to our FFP but our general turnover with other champ teams. Until we become a mid 30k sized club we can’t compete for top level players so we need to build the dogs dodars scouting network.

We’ve been attracting higher level players over other champ teams paying silly wages. Now we are in the poop and ok we aren’t going down this year but are going to be with the favourites for relegation next year

  6. Everton are my second team so to speak and they very much feel like they are the Bristol City of the prem in that they have a very rich owner who’s invested a lot of money in the club with regards to players but invested badly and are now suffering the consequences

Of course i realise............i just believe that the target sample is not representative IMHO.   It is the headline "Nigel Pearson given Major Backing" that i take issue with.  308 people is NOT Major Backing?   I am not biased against NP, I just would like it to be truthful, and a reflection of what the hard core support truly believe?

I was going to ask. Where do you stand on the question?
