I would love them to go bust. I don't know a single Sag who doesn't mind City. They would have seen us go bust would have gladly stolen our ground remember?

Would I miss the rivalry? Not at all. The sheer hatred I have seen in Rovers supporters eyes over the years convinced me that they are just a horrible club with a childish, thuggish and jealous fan base.

I believe their existence has hindered our progress. Without Bristol Rovers I really do believe that Bristol City would have had a nice 40k stadium somewhere on the outskirts of the City instead of having to settle for improving  Ashton Gate.

They are a parasitic drain on the life of our club. I wait patiently for administration and subsequent folding.

Only then can Bristol football move forward.

We truly are kindred spirits....  maybe some of those who have no wish to see them crumble to dust and blow away, weren't around in 82, when we thought we were losing our club, when there were collections on paydays ( Thursdays, as we were all mostly weekly paid back then) in pubs to raise funds, when people bought shares and rallied round.

Whilst the vitriolic glee that those bastards showed, they circled like vultures, just waiting to feast on the carcass, they can **** off and die and the sooner the better.  Detest isn't a strong enough word to help express my contempt for them.

  2. Hmm, choice of moving closer to work, work with a Premiership club that you claim to have a great affinity with, or leave and join one of the most raggy arsed, down to the bare bones division 3 clubs, with a tented, comedy ground, an owner that has had his purse strings drawn tight by his family and unless there is a secret and espensive plan with backing, nothing much looks like changing.  Allied to that glowing LinkedIn profile, something doesn't add up.

Might all be over by then,  according to some.  I personally think that father and elder brother have pulled the purse strings a lot tighter than Wael was anticipating, but who knows!

Oh ... stop it, it's enough to make someone who went through the piss taking and vitriol of 82, excited, very excited, at the prospect of Wally's adulation ending in administration.

  4. Not many of the pundits and ex players complaining about the declaration, dropped catches and bowlers having an off day put the mockers on winning it, I hope it doesn't deter him from being positive in future, it was better for cricket that the match didn't fade out into a boring draw, curtailed by bad light (I reckon they might have been off for the light, had it not been for the situation).

  5. The pink ball is different than the red Duke.  It has to have a coating on it, so it won't shine on one side like a red ball, which is just dyed.  Not being able to shine one side was giving speculation that the ball wouldn't swing, but I think Anderson could make Mary Whitehouse swing........

Changing the topic slightly but I see that Poplar Insulation is sponsoring one of their stands, bit of a strange one as the owners are massive City fans, I'll have to ask them what their game is when I see them next!

Seems a bit odd, I can't see there being a brilliant business case for it and if you are a City fan, then why?  Unless it's some sort of tax fiddle or government scheme, sponsoring run down, shambolic clubs.........

Waiting for the brown stuff to hit the fan...

You bloody teasers......  what, I have been waiting since 1982 to see them fold and disappear, do I have to wait much longer?  Imagine them gone and how in a few years that would benefit City, no way would I expect any diehards to come over, but as time passes, if there was genuinely one team in Bristol......... oh stop, I can't think about it anymore :)

  8. I am just hoping, sat here in agitated anticipation, that they are on the verge of financial ruin - Karma, bloody brilliant Karma, for all the 82 shite they have spouted, for the vitriolic wishes that we went under in 82, for the attempted stadium heist, for the fact that they are the window lickers of Bristol football,  for the pure joy seeing them fold.

Anyone who used the Hen & Chicken back in the 80's might remember a Glaswegian barmaid, she was great, she was RAF, but she was sound, and her favourite phrase was "f**off and die" how appropriate that now seems to the sad sags........

    Well, that's me done.

I thought I could raise the odd chuckle on here but I can't compete with a masterpiece like that.

You do seem to have more than your fair share of window lickers,  the ESN teachers in East Bristol must be the busiest in the country......

Had the utter misfortune to be on the 1930 back from Paddington to Temple Meads tonight - what delightful creatures our blue cousins are - as I am sure the young families who had to witness their oafish behaviour would testify to! BTP were on & off the train at every stop but were quite frankly impotent in dealing with the blue few (only a dozen or so thankfully). To label them Neanderthals would be doing a disservice to cavemen - no wonder football fans get a bad name!!!

Sadly, whilst I'd love to take the high ground here and slate them and them alone, I have worked plenty of trains after football matches and they are generally unpleasant journeys, no matter what clubs fans are involved,  that said, the behaviour of some of those returning from the Henley Regatta isn't much better, they just have blazers and old school ties on......  And one of the worst was Cardiff University travelling to Swansea for an inter university match, mostly fare evading and they set fire to one of the carriages.

And there, ladies and gentlemen, is the reason for this thread, summed up in one sentence. Not sure they'll ever learn

It all depends on your perspective, if you are relating "in the near future", to the beginning of time, then maybe in a few millennia they'll get their new stadium.  If you take it as the next year or two, then it does appear to be drug fuelled thinking.....

He's claiming it's not money, he's found god now and is taking a chaplaincy course, but wants it as closure.  Collins has said it's for the money, he wants to buy more land for his horses - refreshing honesty.  I'm sure I heard on R5 today that Eubank was approached, but he turned it down.
