Two of Nigels biggest critics giving his signing and a member of his coaching staff high praise. Well deserved but very bizarre.

I'm not convinced you'll find anyone that could really be described as a 'critic' of Nigel Pearson on here.

Just an awful lot of people that don't feel he is quite the be all and end all that you seem to think.

I guess someone had a budget they had to use up

*the bloke down the Pub said doesn't count

To be fair to @Topper 123 he did call 12,000 sold at the end of the renewal period and was widely mocked for it before the figures were officially announced.

Not saying this is correct but happy to wait and see. Will be great news if so.

PS You don't even need to pay for this anymore, there are enough ways (apparently) to get all this for free

Of that I have no doubt, though I suspect if you want any kind of picture quality and reliability at all you would be better off paying your £50 a year or whatever

What’s a “fire stick” , yes , I’m retired too. Currently pay for Sky Sports , but only watch football and also some of the music channels. So would a “fire stick” be any use ?

It's an Amazon firestick, the UHD version can be bought from Amazon for about £50.

It effectively turns your TV into a Smart TV (if it isn't already) by having various apps loaded onto it, such as Netflix, iPlayer etc.

    So far, all legal.

If you know the right people, you can also get apps loaded onto it (for a fee, usually around £50 a year) that give you access to the full gamut of all TV, including everything on Sky, including movies and sport, and as a bonus for City fans iFollow which is the platform that Robins TV is streamed on (I think) at no extra cost. This whole thing is often known as IPTV.

This is, of course, illegal. You will not run the risk of any prosecution by buying one and using it however, they are not interested in the users. The people selling the service are prosecuted if caught though.

I have had IPTV in the past and have found that, whilst having access to everything is great, the service isn't always brilliant so be careful who you go with. There are a lot of providers and the very nature of what they are doing makes things quite shady. There will of course be no Customer Service, so it would be up to you to sort out any problems you encounter.

I found the apps were clunky and slow to load, the picture quality was often about the same as if you watch an illegal stream online for football (i.e.not great) and for quite lengthy periods of time sometimes it just wouldn't play anything at all. The service is also liable to disappear completely and without notice once the people supplying the service are caught.

It may well be that the service has improved since I had it a few years ago, but only get it through someone you trust and who can vouch for the service imo.

I’ve had difficulty with the WiFi at AG for years and years. I’ve tried changing phones but it’s made no difference. It’s irritating that those around me don’t seem to have the same difficulties.

Its worse at half time when every other bugger is catching up with ht scores nationwide.

Not being technically gifted I’m assuming that it’s a problem with the way my iPhone is set up………:dunno:

I always found that until this season the wifi at AG was awful. Just too many people trying to use it overloading the system.

It has improved this season, and now seems to work pretty much OK pre-match, though at half time it can still be patchy.

Ah - my mistake. I think we're meant to add them. He must be 20.

He must be older than that if he's retiring! My guess is 1010

I miss the Colin Murray era when it was on was it channel 5? As you say wonder why ITV bothered buying it the effort they seem to put in and the times the show is on.

It was on Quest, suspect it won't have cost much. Agreed it was a much better programme then though.

I suppose the alternative is to chuck away all the effort of everyone at the club and say ‘well that was not worth celebrating ‘.
We have had our moments this season even if overall we haven’t troubled the top six. It has been a season of transition and recuperation from a disastrous handling of the end of the Pearson era . The success is that we have stayed up despite huge pressure on the new coaching staff and the apparent progress now manifesting itself on the pitch.
Let’s hope that next season we don’t have any questions raised about ‘ success ‘.

All well and good, but a simple announcement letting us know the end of season awards were being done following the usual players walking round acknowledging the fans after the final whistle would have sufficed. Why take the players off the pitch straight away to come out later on and call it a celebration? I am all for a simple thankyou, but to big it up was really over the top.

I found it very cringe worthy the way it was being hyped as seemingly such a "fantastic season" (Downsey's words) celebration but doing the awards after the match like that worked well I think and was a nice way to round off the last home game

It was Downsy's constant talk of a 'celebration' that prompted myself and the people I was with to leave almost straight away when it became clear the players weren't going to do their usual appreciation of the fans after the final whistle, which I stay for every match to show my appreciation for their efforts (win or lose), and instead went straight down the tunnel to prepare themselves for the big emotional walk around with the fans thanking them for giving us another mediocre season.

I'm not anti anyone at the club, had no massive issue with Pearson going (timing aside) and quite like us under Manning, but to big this season up as something special just stinks to me.

We heard the awards being announced as we were walking down the back of the Lansdown.

I think the big issue is these kids tickets. I don't think the increase will stop people buying them just to have a spare seat next to them. Because ultimately if they upgrade the shirt to an adults shirt then they are still only paying what 60 quid for the seat?

I still think removing the free shirt unless you are in the Family Area would have been a good option.

Nope. Can’t recall the first one of Liams I did but as @1960maaan said, it seems to be appreciated so I’ll keep doing them if I have time.

Its been interesting both because you can see that a change in demeanour leads to better answers (I don’t think there was a Pearson change in demeanour against results that was as clear) and because Piercys bit is always good value (I tend to want the RB bit to be done so I can get to him).

Title of thread is pretty clear so if it’s not something people are interested in they can always skip past

I certainly appreciate them, don't always have time to sit and watch the videos so reading a summary is very useful.

The analogy doesn’t work as you obviously saw a path to success and the riches that come with it. If Conway stays they won’t come to him. There is no sign he will get promoted with us

We are a top half of the table club (just) and finishing the season strongly.

Promotion is possible next season, not probable, but certainly possible.

Depending on which clubs are knocking on his door this summer, yes.

It's so annoying that we find ourselves in such a weak position with a potential star.

It feels to me that the amount of money in football these days has given all the advantages to the players.

Any player that feels he is good enough to have clubs wanting his services is going to be better off letting  his contract run down every single time.

The only ones that will sign new contracts whilst still in one are going to be the mediocre ones!

Even though FNQ has quoted a bit, it’s probably best to listen to it.

Without turning this thread into another NP v LM debate, I think you are misconstruing fans view (inc my own) that the football played in parts in the last 5 and also the same as large parts of the previous 23.  Some of the stuff played in those 23 was turgid, interspersed with Southampton and FA Cup performances.

I would agree that there have been some turgid displays under Manning, we are frustratingly inconsistent because when it is good, it is very good.

It just confuses me a little that people say we should never have sacked Pearson because we were great, and it has become much duller under Manning, yet complain when a player suggests we have reverted to a more Pearson style.

I get that people think we shouldn't have sacked Pearson, and I can agree to an extent as he did a fine job getting us through a very difficult patch and he should maybe have had a bit more time but it did feel like our progression had stalled under him a little.

Whether Manning was the right replacement is also a topic for debate, and as yet I am on the fence but feel we have seen enough bright spots to think he will come good in the end.

I also don't particularly like the constant references to 'Manningball' (usually used in a derogatory sense) as though the football he plays is somehow different to a lot of teams out there. And once again, we have already seen that when it is good it is very good. We just need to find some consistency is all.

Basically, we’ve now reverted to pre Manning methodology, especially against the top sides, and that Manning can play his own style only when he has the benefit of a transfer window where he can bring in players capable of playing to that style.. How dis you read it?

    I didn't read it, that's why I asked.

If we have reverted to how we were playing under Pearson, why are people complaining about the dullness of the football? Reading this forum you would imagine that everything was whizzbangs and fireworks under Pearson, and the club is now on a deliberate campaign to find the most boring form of football possible and to inflict it on us for no purpose.

Where is the forums feedback on Mark Sykes comments in the EP basically confirming what a lot of us have been saying with regard to old style versus Manningball?

I presume this is something to do with you finding the football under Manning boring and that it is somehow a deliberate tactic? What did Sykes say to confirm that?

Anyone got  a link? Google hasn't helped me.

In fairness to Ben White, as I haven't seen it, I can't comment on that particular incident. But play acting in general is a blight on our game and will only get worse until retrospective action is taken. Fabio Silva spent more time performing gymnastics yesterday - and it won him a penalty- rather than trying to score and pretty much every game will have some player trying to con a ref. It's embarrassing and boring.

Out of interest Rich, what were your indicators of stagnating under Nige?

And likewise what are you seeing that you sense we are moving in the right direction….now?  What has changed?

I have no stats or specifics Dave, I merely go along and watch the games and base my opinions on how I think it went.

I just know that I was bored with the back end of the Johnson reign and all of Holden's.

As for Nige, the beginnings of this season just didn't much feel like we were progressing, though that is very much with the benefit of hindsight as well. I am by nature optimistic, so am always going to see better things ahead, whether that is a rational feeling or not.
