  1. Just logged into Paramout+ Australia via a VPN and can confirm only Villa v Chelsea is listed as upcoming.

Might take a look just before kickoff though.

Watched the highlights from the 0-0 draw while I was there and they do a much better job of it re. analysis etc than any of the other channels I've seen! Not trying to pretend they are commentating live or anything, just talking about what you can see on the screen.

That's not one I remember by name actually. There are many I've probably forgotten.

Tom Thumb didn't have words, you probably remember it as the dooby dooby doo song with the extended woooooaaaaaaaaahhhhh intro.

My favourite football song ever, though completely nonsensical.

Was it unique to us or a more general thing around the grounds?

  3. What might not be apparent to people in that corner is there are always a few empty seats at the bottom of the area. Because people can go where they like they tend to drift to the higher up rows meaning there will always be somewhere for him to sit near the front if the standing becomes too much.

Clearly not Dave, but the current overall feeling on this forum is very toxic, even posters whom I normally respect and agree with seem to being dragged into the negativity.

It might be time for me to take a rest from here, because its not fun reading some of the supposition on here being treated like fact, when I know a good percentage of it is completely wrong.

This place has been like an alternative universe ever since Pearson went.

Away from OTIB, so far as I could tell the main response to Pearson leaving was "That's a shame, I quite liked him. However, he's had a fair crack of the whip and we don't really look like going anywhere so why not try something new?" among City supporting friends and people around me in the stadiumat least. On here it was akin to people thinking the Lansdowns had cackled evilly as their 25 year plan to deny City certain promotion to the Premier League came to fruition.

The next thing that happened was people took everything said by the club hierarchy in the aftermath seriously! People in football bullshit all the time, but when the people here said we had a squad capable of challenging for promotion it was suddenly all deliberately made up lies to be used against them for years to come when in reality don't most clubs hope they have a squad capable of challenging? What would be the point otherwise unless you are a seriously small fish in a big pond? Somehow this then dragged Brian Tinnion into the axis of evil at the head of our club.

It is still a rare thread on here that doesn't include people complaining still about Pearson leaving, or cynically referring to our team as a 'top 6 squad'. It's tedious and unfortunately shows no signs of diminishing as the groupthink still holds sway in here.

I’ve never understood that, as if anyone in the ground doesn’t know what the score is, what’s more there’s two bloody gert scoreboards to tell you the score just in case you’re thick

My daughter regularly asks me what the score was as we are walking back to the car! She really isn't that interested in the football but loves the experience!

It used to be a bit of a right of passage back in the day, I suppose it looks bad from today's millennial eyes perspective, it still goes on though just not as much at the actual grounds.

Much as you might like to believe otherwise, it was a minority thing back them too, especially by the time of the Forest incident you all seem so fond of, which was fairly recent compared to a lot of it.

I couldn't give a monkeys if it still goes on away from the grounds, at least it's no longer a part of the matchday experience and is no longer ruining watching football like it used to for the majority of fans.

P.S. pretty sure I'm not a millennial, I grew up watching City in the late seventies and early eighties.

  7. Is there any possibility of a 'reminiscing about how football was better with violence involved' subforum where people can boast about how hard they used to be without the rest of us having to put up with this brainless mush?

Surely Rovers didn't post this job spec: https://www.fish4.co.uk/job/15758607/financial-controller/

Bristol Rovers Football Club (BRFC) dates back to 1883, following a meeting of five young men at a restaurant on Stapleton Road, in the Eastville district of the city. Since then, we’ve won the Gloucestershire Cup 32 times, the Third Division South Cup in 1932, the Watney Cup in 1972 and have been Football League Trophy finalists twice.

They are looking for some to elevate their financial systems to Championship levels, it won't be just the sprinklers for long!

I'd only think that someone using a club as a stepping stone, someone sure he's better than the level of the Club he joins just to make sure he can not be held to ransom when there is interest.

Like Matty Taylor when he was with them , clearly thought he was better than than and if they waited for the £10m they valued him at, they would still be waiting now . But they could have kept him until the end of his contract.

I had momentarily forgotten the hilarity that was meeting the Matty Taylor clause!

There is talk on there of them making a bid the doesn't meet the release clause in some lower leasgue players contract and have missed signing him as a result

Apparently the release clause was less than a Tilson.

Is it normal for players below the Premier League to have a release clause? If so, might some of our players have release clauses?

I've also seen posts online of adults readily admitting using these u12 season tickets to enter the ground. So more robust monitoring needs to be done on that.

That certainly needs clamping down on, when my daughter was U12 I would giver her my adult ticket and use hers for myself almost every game and nobody batted an eyelid!

See my post at the top of the page with full details

You do raise a valid point and it is something that the club have recognised, how it is dealt with going forward it tricky

Now we are getting improved crowds it is financial suicide to have circa 3k seats unused on matchday, the additional losses that those extra people would spend would massively add up over a season

Yes, but without the free shirt offer those tickets in the SS would be less likely to be bought as 'placeholders' or to keep an empty seat and more likely to be used each match.

Doubling the price of a true U12 supporter in the SS would not be very fair.

I think it's 9 debit payments from June. So March is the last one. So we luckily have April and May off. I have 2 x adult and 2 x U19 (used to be under 12s). So the total outlay for me this season in E32 was £1420. A hefty cost, particularly as we do a load of the away games as well.

I think we do need to look at those £50 kids tickets in the South Stand now for me. They are effectively free as they get a shirt, so those kids only turn up for 50% of the games, hence the spaces. The attendance includes them of course, but financially it's a disaster as a give away seat.

Having a stand that is a quarter empty each game as young kids only going to a third of the games is unsustainable.

It forces pay on the days to go Dolman and lower Lansdown. Hence why we have low levels of pay as you go for the higher priced stands.

We have a designated family stand at that lower price (upper lansdown). If we do under 12 tickets in South Stand , they will have to cost more in my eyes. On a par with the Dolman at £99. That would encourage more of the kids to go to more games as well.

Just my opinion of course, but sensible pricing across the 3 stands and there's no reason now why we can't be at capacity most weeks (can't do anything about the away fans of course).

I would keep the £50 tickets but limit the free shirt part of the offer to the Family Stand only

Ashton Gate needs to be much more intimidating to away fans and teams. Just like the 80s.
We actually win a few games cause they don’t like a bit of aggression from little old Bristol City.

on the pitch I can get it, but do you really believe that being intimidating to away fans outside of the ground is going to have any effect on the result at all?

We also have food vans outside our stadium?

I'm all for getting different types of food at games, especially independent companies. Beats soggy chips and tasteless pasties.

Something I'd actually praise Rovers for, clearly bloody good if they need to make social posts about it too!

Do you ever go to the areas outside AG? There's loads of them!

Not totally correct - the table shows runners up get £1m.

You do, however get the money each time. So if we got to the final and lost we’d get a total of £2.9m

Just now, And Its Smith said:

The losing finalists would get £1m wouldn’t they ?   I would assume it’s one payment depending on what round you get too.

The Semi-Final winners get £1m, the losing finalists get £1m so losing the final would get you nothing if it didn't all add up as you go along.

Although gate receipts at the prices we charged would not have been huge, £150k for TV and winning is not trivial.

Never understood this table. Is it cumulative…ie, if we win round 4 and lose in round 5 do we get £120k or £120k plus £105k?

You must get the money each time, otherwise the losing finalists would get nothing for the final
