I was in the middle of the Dolman and heard the applause coming from the South Stand direction. I had watched his immediate celebration, but missed him kneeling which instigated the applause?
He didn’t really celebrate the goal, his team mates came up to him to congratulate him, then when they turned back to the centre spot he went to his knees and pointed to the sky. We then clapped the acknowledgement and when he got back up he clapped us back.

Just seen mate, seems we were typing at the same time and felt it had to be brought to attention. Mods - please merge
Agreed mate I didn’t see it in the match day thread either and like you thought it deserved a mention.

After Benik scored the penalty he went to first celebrate, then stopped and held his hands up to apologise. So far, so against old club celebration. However, after the Millwall throng had cleared, he went to his knees and pointed to the heavens.
We all know what happened when he was here and what that celebration meant. And the fact that, despite us conceding, a good number of city fans applauded him after it is something we should all be proud of.
Some things are, and always will be, more important than football
Said much the same in my own thread just now mate. Wonderful if poignant moment.

Apologies if this is mentioned in the Millwall match thread but I’ve not seen it there or elsewhere:
I thought it was fantastic, poignant even, when Afobe scored his penalty that firstly he pointed to the sky (assumably referencing the tragic death of his baby daughter) and secondly most of the South Stand clapped him and then he clapped us back.
Fantastic to see and a touch of class from the fans. Feels like he will always have a little piece of us in his heart and vice versa.

Quietest I’ve ever heard Millwall in the ground and after, where were they?!

As soon as you see that typed on this forum it reveals how much the writer knows about football.
I think it also shows we don’t need a striker we need someone to supply the ball to the strikers! Right winger please!

Hard one to justify or condone but Man City were seriously goading the fans there:

Hey everyone ... just wanted to say I hope you all have the best of luck in 2022 - it’s fair to say that this OTIB online community is pretty special ... it sparks debate, confrontation, passion, realisation, disbelief, disagreement, agreement and so many other reactions and emotions ... I really like the different characters on here and the many and varied interactions - this is by far one of the best forums ... thanks for all the debates during another very difficult year - and I’ll leave you with this ditty - I’ve been championing it on here for a few years now - we need to adopt it as one of our own right now - all the best everybody ...
I still can’t believe we haven’t adopted this as ours!

Can’t recall if it was Ian or Mark who thanked “our” listeners last night before correcting himself to “your”. I get the impression with either of them that it wouldn’t have just been a slip of the tongue.
I think they perceive themselves as part of the show!

Fair play to him.
Despite last nights error in judgment I actually think King could be key in the second half of the season now he’s fit.
He should be fantastic at our level and the most decorated and experienced player in the squad.
He’s won league one, the Championship and the Premier League (the only player to have done so) as well as taken Wales to the Euro 2016 semi final. He should really be massively influential for us.

A perfect example of correlation AND causation!!!
They will start rolling in between now and end of Feb (for clubs with end of May year ends) and March (June year ends etc.
How many times have I said, how different are we to Rovers, when the £1m striker sales ran-out? Stewart, Taylor, Hayles, Ellington, Roberts, Cureton, Lambert. Albeit a different level, but similar principles.
Ashton’s ego pushed and pushed the limits, SL’s acknowledged position of financial / FFP compliance stopping him from destroying us, but his lack of football knowledge unable to remedy it. It’s why I give an experienced man like Pearson a lot of slack…he’s helping rebuild a lot more than just a first team. Gould will play the CEO, not the DoF / HoR. Decisions will not be based on flashiness, egos and bullsh1t. I am confident we are gonna morph into being well-run, rather than well-funded / propped up. But it will take time.
Agree.
Much more of this @Davefevs and I will be standing and applauding your posts!
Absolutely nailed it there!

Just listened to both of these podcasts.
The Chris H one was OK although the audio his end was really poor and made for a difficult listen. The interviewer did still interrupt him unnecessarily but was much improved from, for example, the John Ward interview.
The Gregor one was much better, audio pretty good although dropped a few times. Heard much more of Gregor and less of the interviewer too which was good and an entertaining listen.
Thanks for doing them.

Glad to have Lansdown, but these figures are by and large his fault.
We had a really trim quality squad that needed two or three additions. Then he let Johnson and Ashton take him to the cleaners and treble the wage bill. This was always coming.
Completely agree. This all happened on his watch, he’s accountable. He’s also able to be our saviour, so to the previous point he’s a blessing and a curse.

Bournemouth are 3 places above us, and Stoke and Bolton despite both being new builds in the middle of nowhere are in the top 50 if you want to get the measure of this ranking. Villa Park is below only Anfield, Fulham and Old Trafford in England, proving the people who came up with this nonsense have never been to a real match in their lives.
Thanks for sharing @Olé mate.
What a complete load of subjective rubbish! It’s based on “match day experience”?! What does that even mean? This can mean different things to different people and indeed can change each time you visit a ground. Some people might like ease of access, proximity to pubs, food and drink, some people might like the acoustics, atmosphere or the odd confrontation.
I’ve been to plenty of those ground and some of the so-say good ones I thought were shit; but I can appreciate some might think them good.
Only half decent way to do this would be to survey every fan at every ground but even then the above applies.
As people have said here all they will care about is that we are talking about it.

Would be great luck and timing for sure!
