  1. Can only give a pen. Only got limited reply here in US, but looked outside the box - so ref missed the foul, but VAR correctly implemented. Althjought there may be an angle I did't see.
  2. Is there away to show where he takes touches of the ball? I think what sets him apart is he really is a sweeper keeper - When we have the ball he is part of the defensive line, steps up and is proactive. He has touches in RB and LB positions at times, he basically gives passing options in a way an outfield player would.
  3. Agreed and he's made a point of going over to Rodrygo to console him. Class on the pitch and off
  4. I annoyed that someone posted this because it's not funny, everyone does it every time a job comes up no matter how stupid. It's old and boring ...... also I was about to post it and you beat me to it!!

    Ronaldo

To be fair, he would be supposed to be in full kit as he would be an actual sub.
  6. I think he is letting the player be more physical than most of the other refs I've seen this World Cup and that is definitely favoring Morocco at the moment.
  7. If you give anything why stop at 4-3? why not 4-4 or 4-5? Unless you have a bet on 4-3, and if that's the case I'll do but I want your betting slip!
  8. I think some of the crowd are chanting "are you Scott Wagstaff in disguise!" at Richarlison.
  9. Two brilliant bits of defending from Japan - crucial touches.
  10. Haven't seen that before - what a f---in brilliant video.
  11. there is definitely skill in the kick and handling the pressure, but it's weigh more of a lottery than with the run + for the GK it is mostly luck, trying to look big and guessing right to even have a chance of saving. With the run in it would be more about the players ability and soooo much more about the GK's ability.
  12. Agreed I think any tow form Foden, Rashford and Saka. All offer a lot, and something slightly different form each other. It's harsh on Rashford, but he'll come on and get a chance.
  13. Had it in the 90's too. Ignore the state of the US pitch and stadium! ?
  14. In all honesty (I don't know anyone else who likes this idea ?), but when the MLS started (current version) they did not allow draws and so often had shootouts. Howevere they did these more like ice hokey - keeper on their line, player 35 yards out. The player had to run in and try and score, I like it more because its much more about the skill of the keeper and the player. Where as penalties are much more luck. I also realise i'm pretty much in a minority of one in these thoughts ?
  15. Pretty sure it is only feinting a shot that is not allowed, a stuttered run up is and if your technique is good enough it makes sense to do it. It's a bit like playing for a foul, or time wasting while winning though - pushes the edge of rules and drives me crazy when it's against my team. So I think in terems of rules, the ref gets everything about the penalty correct, from awarding it to having it retaken.
  16. That's part of the point of that kind of run up though. no different than playing for a foul or penalty. It's using the rules to gain advantage. It's smart because if he scores it's a goal, and if not he gets another chance.
  17. I have the American commentary here and it's full of great 'soccer' stats like "Mbappe showed earlier he is capable of 3.8 40 yard dash"
  18. Great patience from Australia there, good possession and build up leading to the corner.
  19. Just looking up the Dutch keeper Noppert because I didn't know anything about him (think he has been really good). He is 28 and has never played more than 15 games in a season!
  20. game needed the goal, going to be a good finish.
  21. One of them is actually called Rachel. ?
  22. Watching with my US friends they are not happy.
