  1. When Wall-e took over (aka his parents bought him a cowboy outfit), they never actually paid off the debts and so Higgs & co were (are) still owed mega bucks. At the time the benefit for Mr Higgs was that he wasn't having to keep putting his hands in his pockets to bail out the sinking pirate ship. Fast forward to now and Walle-e doesn't have a debt (loan) requirement of £12m as Mr Higgs can go and sh*ft himself. Just another perspective in this glorious comparison, to Steve Lansdown spending £12m (as a £2.5 billionaire), is effectively spending just £4,800 of his wealth when compared to that of a millionaire and who wouldn't want to be a millionaire? (maths calculation - a billionaire is 1,000 times richer than a millionaire, Steve is 2,500 times richer than a millionaire, ergo £12m divided by 2500 = £4,800.00 In other words, our benefactor f'n rich and could bail them out for almost pocket money, of course he wouldn't, but the sags can dream Long live Mr L
  2. If NIMBY's can claim a rubbish tip was an area of outstanding natural beauty aka village green, then surely there is enough will to stuff any development plans of the mem?
  3. The more I listen to GT the more respect I have for him as an interviewer. Everyone reading this thread should listen to the Wally interview https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p06frc2m It starts about 4:20 minutes in and lasts about 15 mins He is the quiet assassin and to miss quote Billy Joel, “he carelessly cuts you and laughs while you’re bleeding” Geof asks all the questions all Sags want answering and surprise, surprise, not one was answered. GT reveals what a complete fraud Wally is and is so nice about it that Wally is oblivious to the fact that he is being exposed as a complete fraud and Walter Mitty, as we all suspected from day one.
  4. No doubt the date isn't put on because the match date may change when Sky decide once again to televise one of their matches The engravers, sorry transfer sticker makers, have all angles covered, aside from the team names, obviously
  5. Would Matty Taylor have ever dreamed 12 months ago and whilst living in his tiny Emersons Green house and wearing the blue quarters that a year later he would be providing the assist (and what an assist) to help his team beat the biggest (financially) team in the world, Manchester United. Non league to premier league dreams, but perhaps all his dreams might just come true (fingers crossed) in the months to come?
  6. Almost word for word and only slightly paraphrased Geoff – is the club paying interest to Dwaine Sports or anyone else on that loan? Hamer – the club has a notional, (he repeated) notional, which is never drawn down (but didn’t exactly say what it was), but is set in place, but the reason is if it was equity then obviously it is non recoverable but it could be perceived as a loan if you like its not drawn down and it’s not damaging the finances of the football club, but eventually if the club were ever to arrive in the Premier League and if the owners believed it was right to repay the loan that they have accrued over a period of time then they have every right to do so. Hamer - It’s not money that has been received weekly/monthly/yearly, it’s notional and can be drawn or has been accrued as and when they want to do it. So there you go then, from the proverbial horses (punchers) mouth and of course I believe him - no interest has been paid to date and will only be due when the Gas reach the Premier League. Sorry that this episode of Jackonary was on so long after your bedtime, but I have no reason to doubt Mr Hamer and why should I! Oh and yes, Mr Hamer as an after dinner speaker? I’m glad I haven’t attended some of the earlier posters diners and that’s coming from someone who has had the misfortune of hearing Norman Collier as an after dinner speaker. And fortunately the Wheel Tappers & Shunters Club was well before most of OTIB’s followers time!!!!
  7. Is it just me, but the more Hamer speaks about Wael, the more he sounds like he is describing George, The Prince of Wales in Blackadder the third? At least Mrs Miggins pies won't let the faithful down!
  8. Rember this Hamer says that BRFC are not paying 3.5% over base for the loan charged against the ground We shall see
  9. Hamer liking the perception of the take-over by Wael of fortune with Florest and Portsmouth purchases by supposedly wealthy middle eastern concerns Probably the only reality that Hamer alluded to all through the interview
  10. Geoff “You say the training ground will be ready by July 1st 2019 but when I asked Dopey last week about it, he said hasn’t a clue” Hamer – No he’s a manager of a football team” Geoff – But he’s got an interest in it hasn’t he? Hamer – we’ve had times when we’ve looked at extravagant ideas but we have a budget and we are well intentioned and have our plans
  11. Geoff was sharp tonight A Gashead has tweeted “So what’s the business plan for the next 5 years” Hamer – to make the club successful both on and off the pitch Geoff – no that’s a missions statement, not a business plan
  12. Hamer said that UWE refused to go to Jordan in January and "who knows what might have happened if they had" So deal collapsed, just because of this! Why the **** should the powers that be at UWE have to travel thousands of miles (no doubt at their expenses) to Jordan to discuss a development in Bristol and a couple of hundred yards - OK perhaps a mile, from their own administrative HQ?
  13. So how long is Hamer going to stick around, as I can't imagine they're paying him peanuts? Is it time Hamer, they can't touch him Hamer time they can't touch me, Hamer time
  14. Islamic finance requires you only invest in ethical causes or projects. Another reason why buying Bristol Rovers can't be Islamic finance
  15. Drinking water at this time of night ZiderEyed! Whatever next
  16. You're lucky, I'm still looking for my Dad
  17. Presumably the figures quoted are £1,000's ? Or even millions, given the size of their following! And how do you spend a £1 on transport?
  18. At least some of them can see the funny side of their predicament
  19. Wael Al-Qadi explains the role of Dwane Sports and Bristol Rovers' finances There has been confusion since Dwane Sports, not the club, announced that the UWE deal was dead in the water. Bristol Rovers owner Wael Al-Qadi has moved to explain the distinction between Dwane Sports Limited and Bristol Rovers football club. Many Rovers fans were unsure as to the groups role in the running of the club, and were confused as to why the recent statement about the collapse of the UWE deal was issued by Dwane Sports rather than the club. There has also been concern about a £10m charge placed against the Memorial Stadium by Dwane Sports earlier this summer. But now the Rovers president has sought to explain the distinction between the two entities to help clarify the situation for fans. "Dwane Sports is a company that is owned entirely by the family, and Dwane Sports owns 92 per cent of Bristol Rovers football club," explained Al-Qadi. "Dwane Sports has invested money into the club, it's not a loan it's an investment from the holding company - which is Dwane Sports - into Bristol Rovers football club. "It's an inter-company transaction which is registered as a loan between the two companies, both of which we both own, so there is no third party involved. "It's an inter-company loan that's all it is. There is a charge on the Mem and we did that as a sensible move to protect our investment as in the world of business you never know what will turn up," Al-Qadi told Rovers' website. "You can consider the relationship between Rovers and Dwane Sports as basically a family investment into the club." The Rovers owners has already confirmed that the club will now be looking to push ahead with redeveloping the Mem following the breakdown of talks with UWE over the new stadium. Al-Qadi has said the board will now "regroup" ahead of putting together a planning application to improve the Memorial Stadium.
