We keep hearing Liam Nothing (sorry Manning) say how he’s always trying to make sure the players take the emotion out of the game.

I don’t like this approach. Emotion is part of football. Sometimes it can affect you poorly but in my experience it can also have as much of a positive effect than a negative one.

I actually WANT to see my team playing WITH emotion. Not without it.

I’ve really had enough of this bloke.

We also hear him say “at half time we spoke about how we might think about how to engage higher”.
No no no!! It’s your effing job to TELL them how to engage higher. Not have a polite feckin conversation about it.

    Enough. Honestly.

    Bang on Harry.

Manning makes Sean O’Dismal look like he was founder of the crazy gang he lacks that much emotion. It’s reflecting badly now.

Enough of this shit show. He needs to be sacked.

Weirdly felt even more sure and positive about what a good side we’ve turned into after going up yesterday.

Threw bodies at everything, played good football, weren’t phased by them, kept the ball well largely, just wasteful with our final pass and chances when we had it.

Tanner and Pring were absolutely excellent, little old £200k Tanner and academy product Pring stride for stride against an £8m signing and loanee for Sporting Lisbon.

Their side is basically lower half Prem, however is above them come end of May will be top 2 at the very worst.

Yeboah trusted to have 45 minutes against a side like that, and not looking out of place. TGH looks an excellent addition and one I’m fairly sure we’ll make permanent early on in Jan. Naismith and Dickie as a CB pairing… imagine thinking we’d have that 18 months ago. We have a lot to be positive and excited about for this season.

Funny how people can see things differently @petehinton

I thought first half we didn’t keep the ball well enough at all. We defended brilliantly and Max was assured but whilst we all knew we would have to concede possession, when we did get it we gave it back far too easily. Second half we were far better in position and managed to get a bit more territory in the final third. Especially when TGH came on, our use of the ball was far better.

I thought Tanner was defensively excellent throughout but in possession , in particular when getting in good areas second half he was poor. Pring on the other hand really struggled with Fatawu in the first half (what a serious player he is btw) but second half got to grips with him.

My take from that yesterday was that we competed for long spells against what will surely be the eventual league winners. Yes the gap in class was obvious but we have nothing to be fearful of going forward and it’s clear and refreshing to see the togetherness Nige has instilled in the squad.

Tbf I don’t have a massive problem with it - if you want to spend £30 on a ticket and have a six hour round trip to make wide arm gestures at a stranger and not watch football, go nuts. Just don’t do it to the detriment of others.

Either that or spending the entire game in the concourse. It goes with the territory though for the ‘big away days’ and unfortunately means we have brain dead knuckle draggers (like most clubs) out in force. Each to their own but yeah it really baffles me as well.

I must admit I found the whole Vardy thing amusing. Fine to give him stick but when he gave it back you have to take it on the chin. Some bloke decked out in Lonsdale trainers came stumbling down the steps to get to the front row and was literally foaming at the mouth. Whilst launching a vitriolic tirade at Vardy he was so angry he was spitting with pretty much every word I just burst out laughing at him.

Genuinely amazes me yet still shocks me in equal measure how people can be so embarrassingly stupid. Still at least he let Vardy have it I spose ???‍♂️

Wasn’t so long ago Stones was the scape goat if my memory isn’t playing tricks on me .

It’s not ideal situation but is there really any one out there apart from stones ( on present form I know he’s injured ) that steps in ahead of McGuire ,

for me unless some centre back starts tearing it up at league level or mcguires form dips ( for England ) he played

Maguire rarely let’s England down. It’s far from ideal but I would say this is the only area/position we lack any real depth or quality currently.

Levi Colwill has all the attributes and if he continues to develop throughout this season he could well be the one pushing to start at the euros next year. Aside from that who is there? He obviously doesn’t rate Tomori. I like Guehi but he hasn’t shown enough to start over either Stones or Maguire which then leads us back to those two.

I've stuck up for Southgate a lot but Henderson plays in a joke league now. Needs to be phased out of England please.

As a big fan of his kid, would you still look to keep Southgate on after the euros? If not then who would you replace him with? I guess there aren’t many but then a lot can change in a year

  6. I’m really intrigued to see how he does for us. There is no doubt that he’s a quality player and will only get better. I just hope we can get the best out of him/or if our system will play to his strengths.

I would have liked to see him go with Trevoh Chalobah for Maguire and James Ward Prowse for Henderson

Agree. I rate Chalobah and I wouldn’t necessarily have gone with what he has but it’s no surprise as Southgate is quite loyal. CB is a bit of an issue for us though.

No recall for Raheem Stirling but Harry Maguire in.

Injuries to Mings & Stones meant he was always going to go with Maguire. Bit surprised with Nketiah over Sterling though. Otherwise about as expected I feel.

Sorry but I just don’t buy that argument. We have recruited successfully from Europe in the past for relatively low transfer fees (Magnússon, Djuruc, Pisano). It’s like in going from LJ/Ashton to Pearson we have gone from one extreme to another.

I think we should be exploring the European market or any viable market in all honesty. We need to be smart, however I can’t say any of the 3 players you mention were successful. Djuric could of been had he stayed fit. The less said about the other two the better.

If England win on Sunday (and I think they will); then the pressure on Southgate to deliver a trophy intensifies further. This can only be a good thing.

I can’t relate sorry fella. It has no relevance at all. Was there added pressure on Southgate after the women’s team won the Euro champs?

I know you aren’t directly comparing the men & womens game but why does the mens game even need to be mentioned at all? Totally separate and not helpful for the womens game in my eyes.

  11. Evening all

After reading a few posts across this forum the last few days from different people regarding their thoughts, feelings and what they are going through, I just thought it was important to mention I am here should anyone need to talk.

Some of it has been difficult reading in parts but it also goes to show we all have our battles in life. I think it’s also very clear that there are a lot of good people on this forum and we all share one thing in common, regardless of our situations, talking is good and can help. I am more than happy to talk or listen to anyone going through a hard time. DM’s always open to any fellow reds, anytime.

It all comes down to whether you like life or not, I get up most days and I'm unhappy. Through mistakes in life, I have few friends, family is not close, and if it weren't for the animals who depend on me, I would have ended it this last 6-9 months. I've battled depression for years. I've battled other things as well. I've watched everything good in life evaporate and I guess not everyone has things to be happy about.

It's not always about wanting help, it's not always about thinking things can be better. Sometimes things happen in life, which make life not enjoyable, and no matter what you do, things hold you back. People are so judgemental in life and don't know the hell you've been through and even if you make a mistake, you can't get away from it. People judge and talk and taunt you and it leaves you permanently at rock bottom. You don't want to go out and do things, as you don't want people to see the wreck you've become, you read what people say without knowing the truth and the world judges.

I'm at peace with life, I enjoy my work, although it doesn't do a lot for me, and I have more animals than friends. In fact I would say aside of people who I chat to on line, who many I've physically never met, I don't have any real friends. So I do 100% mean it. I won't miss the world, and the world wont miss me.

I can live with that. Too many people aren't open with how they feel. There is no shame in saying you would rather be dead, the fact is, many people talk you out of it, thinking it will be better for you, sadly it really isn't.

Life isn't always about simple things, for some people stuff happens and people are quick to put you down, as MJ once famously, "just because you read it in a magazine or seen it on a TV screen don't mean it's factual, but everybody wants to talk all about it".

A good few years ago, I got myself in a mess, through trusting others, in return I let most people down I knew and were friends, I made matters worse for myself, and imploded. I made mistakes, and paid heavy for them, but you can never escape them. You read things which are untrue and no matter how much you wanna scream out, it makes no odds.

I'm not saying I'll kill myself today, I mean I have parents who are elderly and I would never put them through that, as other family who rarely speak to me will never forgive me. I also have animals who depend on me, and I have bookings in work until March next year that need to be honoured, so I wont do anything soon, but there will come a point, where I will do what I wish I done a long time ago.

I appreciate, that this may not be an easy read and many wont understand but I don't want sympathy, I don't want help, I just don't want the run down smashed up life I have and spend every day having to fight a corner, which no one knows anything about.

I would have got a cleaner break if I killed someone. The world moves on, but life doesn't.

We don't all have a nice life, that's just the way it is.

Hope you can find strength from the things in life you enjoy mate. However if you do ever want to talk feel free to DM at anytime. No judgements here, happy to talk and listen. Stay strong mate

Sorry I ran out of likes, thank you each one of you who took the time to reply, I feel suitably embarrassed now because there are most people in life with better reasons to be messed up than mine, just all came to a head this evening but I'm ok really. You guys are heroes really. I'm going back in my shell now .

Hi mate. I really hope you are ok. Please don’t feel embarrassed or compare your situation to others. We all have our own battles and struggles in life, but right now how you feel is what’s important. Not other people and their reasons. You are important mate. Don’t lose sight of that.

Feel free to drop me a DM anytime. I am here for you if you want to talk. The last 6 months of my life have been incredibly tough and I have been in a bad place myself and whilst this post isn’t about me, it’s about you, I can at least try and relate and use any experience I have had should you want to talk. If you want to talk I am here. Stay strong mate.

    1. Who gives a rat's about the PL scoring record? Shearer. The all-time leading scorers are so far ahead of the likes of him (eg Greaves)

    2. Bayern would smash Spurs, for starters. And maybe if the standard is 'not what it was', he'll improve it?

Granted on point one, and ultimately trophies are more important however I feel Kane is that good he deserves to break the record.

Of course Bayern would smash Spurs, they have been a shambles for a while now although I think Ange will start moving them in the right direction. Kane will no doubt improve Bayern but the league is weak. Yes he will win trophies but for the sake of waiting a few months he could have gone anywhere he wanted. It just seems an odd move at this stage of his career to me.

I think he will improve Bayern but it will be interesting to see if it’s enough to be a force again in the champs league.

Was he that good? Just saying…….no goals…:rare assist, lovely pirouette, great deal!

Way too good for us sadly. You also have to consider that from the age of 17 we have relied heavily on him. Adapted to right wing back and played in pretty ordinary City sides since his debut.

He’s different class. He’s clearly benefited from first team football at champ level but he’s outgrown this level now.
