  1. Or even our old friend Fanny. http://t0.gstatic.com/licensed-image?q=tbn:ANd9GcRIuk7VP_cWWiBMLD5zhFPAFJV5GqT6QEFjkDHZIAGgJ3kmhuXPY9CVtW1QRjR4 This always make me laugh.
  2. Yes, that's sort of my view. I remember Harvey Elliot mimicking Harry Kane's lisp and, quite surprisingly (and disappointingly), some on here mocking Luke Ayling's stutter. It's not at all clever, nor, of course, is it funny, although Leeds players apparently found it amusing a few months ago. https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2021/04/30/bamford-shares-what-happened-in-leeds-team-huddle-last-weekend-it-left-everyone-in-hysterics/ Re. Ayling and his speech impediment, I used to like him as a player, but I also admired him as a person for standing up to be interviewed after matches - a brave man. Conversely, I have no problem with referring to Neil Warnock as Colin, although his nickname is not down to any impediment.
  3. In an ideal world, of course, children would be raised by two law abiding parents, preferably (and I am not trying to bring in another topic) both a mother and a father.
  4. Well, Yes. When you put it like that, the Kölner Dom is still dirty and, as you say, a simple 'ein Bier bitte' or even 'ein Weissbier bitte, ohne Zitrone' just doesn't have the same ring.
  5. For just over half that price, really, I can travel First Class from Paris to Cologne (return) on the Thalys ( a high speed train, similar to Eurostar), with a really comfortable seat accompanied by a three course meal and a (small) bottle of wine.
  6. Thanks for the article; a very enjoyable read. Whilst I remember the 1963 winter (my father trying to defrost frozen water pipes with a hair dryer), I hadn't yet started to watch live football - we probably wouldn't have made it out of our road even if I had.
  7. Indeed. Perhaps the phrase might be written better as: Everyone deserves the right to acknowledge and apologise for their mistake and work to try and earn a second chance.
  8. I wonder whether they did, but, due to his (preumably) paternal Celt roots, was drawn to Celtic.
  9. How interesting. I have never visited Adelaide nor, indeed, Australia, but I always had in my mind that (Sydney excepted) it was the cosmopolitan centre of Australia. Many years ago I used to see a girl from Melbourne, who used to regale me about the delights of her home town, but I never knew that Adelaide was as boring as you two make out.
  10. Hmm. I think the period whilst Klopp was unemployed might be described more accurately as a sabbatical, but, Yes.
  11. Oh, Sure. Losing their manager, CEO and, arguably, their star player was the perfect storm.
  12. I wasn’t suggesting for a moment that WBA contemplate hiring Darren Moore (he’s down with COVID again, anyway ?). My post was very much tongue in cheek, although I still feel he was slightly hard done by given the manner of his dismissal.
  13. A very good idea. In addition, I wouldn’t start from Wiltshire.
  14. I assume you mean GJ leaving his former club (Yeovil) to come here, as he didn’t shine when he left (Peterborough, Cheltenham) although did well, to be fair, at Torquay.
  15. Very unfortunate for both Ismael and Barnsley. They were doing really well together; they parted and now look at them both.
  16. That Darren Moore chap seems to be doing quite well at Sheffield Wednesday ?.
  17. I was never ‘in’ to Atomic Rooster, so never bought or even listened to any of their albums; I just used to like those two singles, presumably from hearing them on Radio One.
  18. Because of a misconstrued idea (from our fans) that he was angry with City and their fans. My perception was that it was rather he was angry with the manager who shipped him out - hence his antics (towards said manager) when he first returned to Ashton Gate. See above.
  19. Wow, I had almost forgotten all about them. Tomorrow Night and Devil's Answer.
  20. One solution might be to post the amount of the repair estimate/invoice, say £25K?, stating that the additional £1 ticket levy will be maintained until such time as this sum is attained, perhaps showing a regular running total. To this statement, however, would be added the fact that the identity of any culprits identified would be divulged to the Police and that the club would support and actively encourage any consequent prosecution, seeking compensation from any 'fans' convicted. Fans would also be advised that, once the full target is achieved, the levy would cease and, of course, any assistance from true fans in identifying the culprits would be appreciated as, of course, this would both shorten the length of the levy and reduce their overall additional outlay.
  21. Ignoring the fact that Reg was somewhat ‘partial’, I used to quite enjoy listening to his punditry.
  22. I don't know anything about Mason Greenwood's background, but I did read (following the current scandal) that he won a competition as a model as a very young boy, receiving a cheque and a year's guidance with an agency. I have also read several articles about Marcus Rashford's childhood and how, just like Leeds' Kalvin Phillips, they grew up in virtual poverty and were heavily influnced by their mother. The latter two appear to have developed into thoroughly decent young men. A coincidence, perhaps, but Mum usually knows best, and it would do these young stars a lot of good if they would remember their roots, rather than let their privileged position go to their heads.
