  1. And, of course, had they not been forced to play on in what was almost darkness against Essex back in April, losing four late first innings wickets in as many overs in the process, they would probably have won and screwed Essex to boot.
  2. At close of play yesterday, I was pretty convinced Glos would do well to avoid defeat....
  3. Getting a bit tense now, though - two wickets in consecutive balls.
  4. To be fair, they actually require 19 runs ?. And would you believe it? Somerset could have won already, but NO! They had to go off for lunch and now it has started raining and the covers are on!
  5. I was watching the live stream from just before the fall of the 7th wicket - then three went down for no runs and I thought it was all over. Credit due to both Shaw and Goodman, however, the latter playing in only his second match and, to be fair, rarely looking in any danger, although he took 40 balls I think it was before he got off the mark.
  6. Unfortunately, it is looking rather unlikely now - 9 wickets down and leading by just 11 runs with 23 overs still to bowl (less two for the innings change). Oh for that one run yesterday evening.
  7. I would have agreed with you had you scored just the one more run needed to avoid the follow on. Now I shall be looking on anxiously tomorrow.
  8. Fingers crossed (for both of us) you can see this session out without losing a wicket and eke out a lead by tea tomorrow.
  9. Yes, hence the reason they are following on. As a Somerset supporter, I shall be very disappointed if this doesn't end in a draw - neither of the two teams secured maximum bonus points and, imo, a draw is the only way we might finish top of our group and one of the two top teams.
  10. Well, Would you believe it? Asked to follow on or not?
  11. Currently watching the Hants/Glos live straem - Glos need another 5 runs to avoid the follow on with 1 wicket left....
  12. I had been hoping (willing) TL to finally come good, and I am grateful to Somerset for sticking by him and, of course, very pleased for Tom that he was strong enough mentally to overcome his awful start to the season - I don't think there is any doubt about his talent.
  13. This young Lammonby chap seems quite promising....?.
  14. Here is the reason I suspected you of sarcasm ?. I have asked our friends on Grockles for any info concerning yesterdays two 'fives', and should hope to respond to @ralphindevonlater this afternoon. Meanwhile, COVE strikes again, and 6 down now - Leics lead by 79. Actually, it is now 7 down and COVE has a Michelle. Oh, and AGod has kindly replied. 'Overthrows in both cases. One was a ricochet off the stumps.' Lastly, Pinky and Perky (anybody remember them?) have just given a resumé of COVE's five wickets.
  15. Hit helmet is a good suggestion. Re. ‘Our Glos. friend’, maybe I am wrong, but I thought he was joking about you saying you remember Grace, i.e. WG. Incidentally, COVE got Patel first ball this morning - 51/4.
  16. I have never been to Grace Road, but I would be surprised if they could run 5, no matter how far away the boundaries are - I suspect they were overthrows, but shall ask on the Grockles forum as I am sure AGod amongst others was watching the live stream. Incidentally, concerning Grace, I believe our Glos friend @slartibartfast is suggesting you might be getting on a bit ?.
  17. 8 wickets down now, although we do have our 3rd batting point.
  18. I know, hence my earlier apology - to the other Tom. Hmmm. As they often say: get one, get two. I hope they don’t throw it away now - 30 minutes ago I was really expecting full batting points before the pitch started to turn a bit more for Jack.
  19. Thanks for that Tom can consider himself very fortunate. As was mentioned on the official site, that could well be a game changing moment for, at the risk of repeating @Lrrr’s error of speaking too soon and jinxing him, Tom Abell looks very well set and a well-deserved Century surely beckons.
  20. I am out and about today, so unable to watch the live stream. Just catching up with the score on Cricinfo and the Somerset site, however, I note that we have scored two fives, presumably overthrows, and that Tom Abell was saved from a tight runout as the umpire was looking in the other direction! Is anybody watching and able to advise? A quick check on the Grockles site reveals a post from @TomF’s favourite, who confirms he has checked the scorecard and that Tom Abell’s possible runout was definitely Not Out!
