  1. I note you have just suggested a declaration. I would suggest a continued thrash for another 5 overs or so and then declare - a quick 50 or so runs will be easier now than at the end of the day, if necessary. My post crossed with yours - I was referring to your CRICINFO post. They have now declared, though 587/8 leaving Hants 249 runs to avoid defeat - still 90 overs left.
  2. Not necessarily. He has said he will make an effort to come back for the final.
  3. 27/2 now - another wicket for COVE. Were the wickets due to the pitch or just rank poor cricket? - I saw Peter Trego's 1st innings dismissal and that was due to an awful shot.
  4. I'm not sure which performance is worse. Somerset or Australia against Sri Lanka: 10 for 3 in the last innings, still 400 runs behind.
  5. Certainly looking that way, although 100 is a bit pessimistic - 36 runs so far, though. And, apparently, Tres has now taken 498 FC catches!
  6. Perhaps, although Durham 2 down now - both to spin. Remember Notts....
  7. So, there we are. Somerset home to Worcs - Glos game abandoned, so Essex only get the 1 point.
  8. Well, just try typing FTG! We shall see, but, according to PhilGas, what I typed might not show as I intended.....
  9. After picking her son up from school one day, the mother asks him what he did at school. The kid replies, "I had sex with my teacher." She gets so mad that when they get home, she orders him to go straight to his room with no tea. When the father returns home that evening, the mother angrily tells him the news of what their son had done. As the father hears the news, he shouts up to his son and demands that he come down immediately to the kitchen. The father asks him what happened at school, and the son tells him, "I had sex with my teacher", whereupon the father reaches in to a cupboard and takes out a huge frying pan. 'No, Don't hit him!' screams the mother. 'I'm not going to hit him' , says the father, 'I'm going to fry him a steak - you can't expect him to be screwing his teacher on an empty stomach!'
  10. Unfortunately, you are correct. I have never understood why the England selectors, given the tragic circumstances of MTs illness, could not have made an exception and picked him for home games only.
  11. One consolation of this season's 20/20 débacle, however, is that Somerset may well decide that next season, instead of spending £MS on getting a certain CG to play a few hours of slap and tickle, it might be better to invest in getting a few strong batsmen and bowlers in for the proper game.
  12. 16/6 off the last 4 overs - we haven't really got the hang of this 20/20 thing, have we?
  13. As several on this forum could no doubt testify, Somerset's own forum picked up (unfortunately) a poster who had been banned from Gloucestershire's forum, amongst others - whilst his posts were not in the least offensive, it is not to be recommended!
  14. It was, but unfortunately (as was to be expected with such a foolhardy declaration), Middlesex won it in the last over. Excellent for the spectators though.
  15. A 50 run lead already, both Ts still batting. All things being well, a 200 run lead by close of play; a quick thrash tomorrow morning to increase the lead to 250 and then our bowlers (missing Jove, but with Jack Leach in fine form) bring us our second win of the season .
  16. I'm not so sure. Quite a nice stand now between Tres and Joe A, the latter owes us a few, that might make hings interesting tomorrow. Think Positive .
  17. That (10H15/20) would appear to make more sense.
  18. Sure, I know the change of pitch was made very late, but I just cannot imagine this being after the toss. 'Right lads, I've seen the pitch -,a complete dustbowl so we have chosen our 4 spinners'. 'Ha. That fooled them. Quick. Change the pitch for the greentop and get our seamers warmed up'.
  19. The pitch was changed AFTER the toss?
  20. Although, I suspect the delayed declaration may well have been to provide a confidence booster to Ryan Davies, allowing him to get his 50.
  21. Just been called off. A great shame, as it looked odds on for a win. I just wonder whether, with hindsight, Somerset might have declared a bit sooner.
