  1. I used to think Nakhi Wells was our worst value signing ever but his redemption arc has been considerable. It must be Palmer now, absolutely baffling signing
  2. Obligatory Jonathan Pearce Bristol City reference! Just a minor one this time, mentioned that we are PNE's next opposition
  3. A victim of the scattergun approach to recruitment at the time. Maybe would have had more of a chance if we didn't sign Palmer that summer too
  4. Think his comments are particularly out of order given that Clare Holland's daughter plays for Rovers
  5. Sam Bell massively reminds me of Wes Burns. He will go on to play regularly at this level but not for a while
  6. Glad Joe has stepped up and been performing well. I still think he has overall not performed to the level expected of him since he signed and would not really mind if he left in the summer. He also has every right to be aggrieved by how his injuries and recovery were completely screwed by Holden and Rolls in particular. Took a lot of time out of his career; he was not known to have long periods out with injuries before he came to us. I'd love for him to be replaced by a more dynamic and creative midfielder although that has been a need in the team for many many years and they don't exactly grow on trees.
  7. I mostly agree although if I were to counter I would say that our attacking options are limited at best and going 3 at the back means having to do yet another significant change in terms of playing staff, tactical setup, etc which is very unlikely to happen given how much it woukd cost.
  8. I miss his robust challenges although since he got that red a while back he has eased off on them. Sensible decision but as a former stay at home right back myself I love a good cruncher!
  9. Bless George Tanner, I think he is a better player than most give him credit for but he could be given an open goal from two yards out and would probably still pass the ball backwards...
  10. Don't worry guys, we have established top six goalscorers *checks notes* Harry Cornick and Sam Bell...
  11. Haha, I'm an ice hockey fan too hence using that term. Isn't used enough!
  12. Jesus wept, what an appalling game that was. Really thought Birmingham were the real deal; both the team and fans looked driven as hell. Their new owners have done a great job at eroding that goodwill with the appointment of Rooney
  13. I feel for Conway, he is not a lone forward at this stage of his development and is getting bullied against one of the more truculent teams in the league
  14. It's my birthday today, I'm twenty seven years old. I've been on this forum since I was around eleven and that in of itself has provoked some self reflection. To think that there are some posters that have kept me amused and informed for my entire adolescence (which was not an easy time for me personally) and now my adulthood which has thankfully been much more happy and fulfilling. Whether it's been a doom scroll at 2am when I have work tomorrow, checking in during a game or coming on to bemoan yet another loss, this board has been rather important to me over the years. I'd like to thank everybody here as we do have one hell of a forum considering how pokey our football club is. A happy new year to you all!
  15. Loved seeing Bodin giving it the big one to S82 when we had Oxford in the cup, seeing as we then went on to win 5-1 and he got subbed off...
  16. You've just reminded me actually, I need to get some bottles of Baileys before Christmas
  17. Going to have to be pedantic and say it was the Auto Windscreens Shield 2000! I only know that because I have our shirt from it...
  18. Seen both James siblings at AG now and each time they were the best player on the pitch by some distance
  19. Started well. Chelsea always going to be a class above but has been even so far edit: 1-0 Chelsea, great strike from Lauren James
  20. A hell of a player and leader. His safety and health must come first. Will be a real loss to the game.
  21. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
  22. Outstanding performance, one of his very best
