I am going to keep an eye on the number of cases being reported and how quickly they are growing in % terms between now and Saturday, I'm going to make a decision Saturday morning if it is worth going or not.

Especially as if you do catch it, that's Christmas ruined.

Think today is the cut off for Christmas, my son has it tested posative  yesterday and rough with it, but no one else in his family did.

    ****** minefield.

Completely with you and I’m seriously questioning if it’s worth the hassle and risk of going this Saturday.  In normal circumstances I would definitely go, but we’ve got the whole family coming over for Christmas dinner and I really don’t think standing in a massive queue to watch 90 + minutes of probably shit football is worth screwing up Christmas for.

Things are moving so fast at the moment, it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if it was decided to suspend this weekend’s matches.

With the rate doubling every couple of days, we could be looking at 150,000 new infections a day by Saturday.  This could lead to a few more matches postponed due to covid in the squad anyway, so that may make the decision for the authorities anyway.

    F*****G virus ?

Would be amassed if there were 10,000 there Saturday and crowds around the country seeing the same drop off.

Of coarse Christmas being the main driver but also the unknow outcome of this strain also playing on peoples minds.

I assume most of the people that post on this forum are season ticket holders and think anywhere between £15 and £20 is the going rate for a ticket to watch football and £25 is expensive for a football ticket.

To add some context I looked up going to Exeter v Tranmere last weekend that was £25 - £25 to watch 2 league 2 teams play each other in far worse facilities than Ashton gate.

£23 seems pretty reasonable to me even if it is second teams (which it won't be because we don't have a second 11 anymore) bearing in mind Fulham's second team is probably far better than league 2 standard.

If I got a £5 ticket to this I wouldn't go football is duller than dishwater at the moment I only go with my season ticket because I have bought it, there's a small chance of it being entertaining and I like the social bit of it.

In the 55 years that i have been going to Ashton Gate entertainment hasn't been the main attraction most years.

Well I'm 60, I wear a mask when outside the house I do my thing to protect other people, I don't go anywhere apart from food shop where I go in the quiet hours and use self checkout, have had cancer , brain aneurysm, many multiple fractures- major ones, so I see life a little differently I guess but agree whole heartedly about seeing City in the Premier league, I did see the old First Division days but most of my memory has been wiped after my stroke

Fair play mate you haven't been dealt the best hand.

Hopefully we might see the City in the top flight again before we pass.

    I’m against vaccine passports.
    I won’t be attending.
Will take my custom to Forest Green or Cheltenham instead whilst this idiocy reigns.

Fair play to you Harry you are a man of moral fibre

To me the restrictions are bearable. Having worked all the way through in a supermarket  where a lot of people who come in who well, couldn't give a shit for anyone else seems new measures are ok to me.

Compared to the rest of Europe and indeed the USA we are at the moment getting off  lightly .

Now if this new variant turns out to be as mild as some think then hell we should open right up again.

Untill then Harry enjoy your trips to Nailsworth.

On the flip side they have a huge catchment area. So if they scouted well and early enough then they could and should do better IMO. I know they don't have an Academy set up like City have but they just have no presence anywhere in Devon and Cornwall. The catchment area for supporters is also huge but they are fickle as f@ck. As someone who has been around the local football season at a decent standard in Devon I feel the huge barrier you refer to is also part in there own making.

That maybe so, but as someone who also lived in South Devon for 35 years and also played football their for many years they do have a big sleeping support.

In the 70s early 80s they had coaches coming from North Devon every home Saturday game  and support from Cornwall. Where i lived they had a pretty good folowing too.

Argyle to me are on a level with us, they would attract crowds as we do on a level playing field.

I was an avid Shoot reader - or 'SHOOT! incorporating GOAL!' as it became some time in the late 70s, I think.

Kevin Keegan and Gordon Hill both wrote regular columns and I remember being thrilled when they talked about their games against us. "Bristol City are too good to go down", Kev assured us, and he was dead right too, as the events away to Coventry a few weeks later were to prove. Happy days.

I Can remember an advert for Goal done in an American accent. Was something like " Goal the Worlds greatest Soccer Weekly."

    unless i'v gone completely mad!!!!!!

Shoot , Match and Roy of of the Rovers were the highlight of the week for me - along with watching teletext for score updates (waiting for the pages to change).

Roy of the Rovers was great - loved Billy's boots and Hotshot Hamish & Mighty Mouse.

Jesus how the world has changed.

Remember Goal? Think it came out before Shoot but they ran at the same time for a while.
