  1. I suppose what it means to them is that there are only a few of them, but they are dedicated. What it means to everyone else is, there are only a few of them.
  2. Basket case Reading thrashing Blackburn after their perfect start is just one of those results that the Championship seems to throw up week on week. Last night we had the equally under the cosh Birmingham City getting a draw with everyone's runaway winners Watford. It never really changes does it?
  3. not enough runs on the board in the end, Leicestershire ran out easy winners in the end.
  4. I thought he looked like a young Trevor Morgan, but maybe there is a petrol can in his hand just out of sight.
  5. At least keeping a low profile so I understand, so Carlisle could be good for him.
  6. Great last few overs to Glos innings with Tom Price banging it around. More interestingly Gohar has opened the bowling and taken a wicket!
  7. The second own goal was a beauty, got in front of his man and headed it from lowdown from an awkward angle.
  8. You will get periods like this if they are determined to play this way, looks like we will have to get used to taking the bad with the good.
  9. If he was as good as he apparently thinks he is, he wouldn't be.
  10. I mentioned it to someone near me at the time, but on the highlights you can see how Wells creates space for the second goal, by taking a couple of quick strides towards the throw, two of their defenders move with him and HNM is then able to exploit the space behind them.
  11. Ten Haag is looking over his shoulder as we write........
  12. Not interested? You know what to do then don't you?
  13. It was a very muted effort though, you could probably hear me shouting at them to "shut the **** up" over that.
  14. Fantastic morning for JO'D PB in the high jump of 1.80m only the amazing Thiam is jumping higher.
  15. More of a winger isn't he, possibly thinking ahead as Zaha is 29 now and might look for a big payday somewhere else?
  16. For those who say they just want to be entertained, what about some of those runs from Atkinson and Dasilva in the 2nd half? Jay was absolutely flying and Atkinson, well one day he is going to get it absolutely right and score the goal of the season for a centre half.
  17. But I think you are missing the point Harry, we didn't immediately drop into a completely defensive mode, we kept them on their toes for a good 10 minutes after the sending off by looking to break on them. It was a gradual move into total defence and I think it demoralised them more than anything. As the game played out they looked, less and less convinced they could get anything out of the game. Fair enough, you would have done things differently, but the professionals got it right
  18. Anyone feel more comfortable with cashing in on Semenyo with the emergence of Tommy Conway, or would it be a lot to ask for Conway to keep this up for a season?

  20. I thought that some of the passing angles out from the back were something I hadn't seen from us for a while, the movement of Scott and Massengo allowed different options, and Conway looks like a Weimann clone with his non stop movement. I am sure Cardiff will do a better job of pressing us, but we showed in that period that we can be fast and accurate when required What was our long ball percentage @Cowshed, I am assuming it was lower without Martin playing?
  21. Apparently they need 3 new midfield players a right back and a centre half. Wow, last seasons heroes have been brought down to earth.
  22. As I said on another thread, they have played a lot at U23 level and it seems that Wells has become something of a mentor to some of the young players.
  23. There could be a protective element but, I could see alternative arguments for every single move, and I thought the coaching team were excellent. First move was a natural one and not really defensive at all. Scott has played the majority of his games with us a right wing back and Wiemann can be equally effective playing from a deeper position and we continued to look dangerous on the break meaning that Luton couldn't immediately go flat out on the attack from the restart. The next move to bring Scott into the middle, well, I think this was a clever timewasting move because they knew they were going to bring him off and he would have further to go from the centre of the pitch. Conway was clearly and understandably blowing, and we needed to get Martin on both to hold the ball up and for his defensive duties. After that I liked the way we gradually became more defensive, just strangling Luton as they became more and more desperate and apart from a wicked deflection they couldn't generate a genuine chance.
  24. 2 - 0 up at half time. Luton come out with three changes and a flea in their ear from Nathan Jones. They were probably also told to remember that we have a reputation for shrinking like a salted snail if put under pressure in the 2nd half. They tried to up their tempo, but we just took complete charge of the game. Great pressing, superb movement and exceptional passing moves, the only thing that didn't quite come were the goals, which I honestly believe we're on their way, until the sending off. But still, they couldn't live with us and I think that's possibly the best we have played under Pearson.
