  1. They went up this morning. Why would it be scrapped, it's a huge money spinner for the area whether they fly or not.
  2. Glos doing their best to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory I see.
  3. I remember reading that Luke Steele was a Judge at the Mr Gay Uk competition in the past, which I thought was very forward thinking of him at the time. This was back in 2012. "The celebrity judging panel included this year’s Dancing on Ice winner, and Emmerdale star, Matthew Wolfenden, professional footballer Luke Steele formerly of Manchester United and now the Barnsley goal keeper. Bafta award winning TV Writer, Daran Little known for his work in Coronation Street, Eastenders and Made in Chelsea, completed the panel."
  4. Why does this make you sad @swanker?
  5. It will be because of the balloon festival half way across town or the Tour De France or something. Actually, we have a food festival here in Portishead so maybe that is a draw.
  6. I remember there being a picture of Engvall when he signed, with about 4 "agents/liggers" with him and thinking this doesn't look right at all. I would love to know what Ashton was getting out of these deals with people no one had ever heard of
  7. The Pride marches are always good fun, my wife and I have attended a couple one here in Bristol and one in Norwich when we were over that way. So colourful and a sense of freedom you don't often see. I am glad Luke had a good time and I hope others will feel they can follow suit.
  8. I suppose it depends on whether your ROI target is to get back the cost of the system. In my case it's money from my SIPP, part of my 25% I can liberate tax free, now it could sit there and the markets could go through the roof and I will 10/12% on my investment, but it's very volatile currently and that seems unlikely. The way I see it, what I will save on my bills monthly is likely to be equal to or greater than the interest I might accrue, I can either have 9k + interest or 9k worth of system saving me x a month. Regarding the battery, I do see it as something I will see it from as I already have an ev, at the moment I rarely charge it at home, I either use the free chargers which are conveniently placed for me or I can use one of the local rapid chargers that only costs me 5p per KWH more than at home. I am not silly enough to think this situation will last for ever though, so any savings I can make on home charging will help future proof me.
  9. @Curr Avon has just screwed up my phone with that. Cheers mate.?
  10. Quite surprised it's 3 years and not 3 matches these days.
  11. That's Not My Name - The Ting Tings
  12. There are few grants available anymore for solar panels on commercial properties and none at all for private ones, (which is shocking to be honest), and even those that are available only cover less than a quarter of the overall price. There are companies that will buy your excess electric production, some in fact are compelled to do so, but the best of these pay around 7p per KWH, which is a nice little bonus, (as a comparison it costs me 42p per KWH to charge my car at home currently. (No pun intended) But even if they are doing that, who do you think benefits from the fact that the club are helping to generate clean energy into the grid, instead of there having to be even more fossil fuel generation? It may not be completely altruistic, but we all benefit from that outcome. Mug.
  13. I think this is going into a political argument, but for those saying ah yes but...... we use planes and a diesel coach and, and, and. Until there are genuine alternatives to some of these things (planes with electric engines that are commercially viable etc) there will always be stuff we can't do because the option to do something is not there yet, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try to make a difference in the areas we do have control over. I have had so many discussions along these lines since buying an electric car, being told how much CO2 and emissions are used in the building of my ev, like a normal car doesn't have those issues and then continues to create pollution. Ooh and the electric production isn't clean, and, and, and ..... I don't have control over these things, but I can run an electric car which is slightly better than not and it's little steps that become a big difference. I can have a solar system with a battery installed, both of these things have eaten into my savings, but I believe I get a better return on that investment than I could ever get if I just stick it in a high interest account. And yes, at the end of the day I want to feel I am "doing my bit" and I would be dishonest if I didn't admit that.
  14. Well we may not be up there with FGR, but good to see the club making these initiatives. To be honest I would think a few may be as surprised as me as to how much we do already, I have never noticed the solar panels from the aerial shots of the ground for example. https://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/city-launch-project-whitebeam/
  15. I have noticed that a lot of these deals are for one year, is that more common in the Women's game?
  16. I heard he's quite a hard crust with plenty of beef underneath. He's not flaky and is no chicken.
  17. Neville I think was a converted winger so took a while to get into the goals. I think a lot of his goals came away from in breakaway style. He scored a beauty taking the ball on the run away to Gillingham and a really good one at Newport as I remember.
  18. Are Caraboa responsible for the prize money? If they are then they are getting a lot of publicity for minimal outlay. Mind you, considering you can buy two cans of their "drink"* for £1 in Home Bargains, I an guessing they don't have a huge profit margin to play with. *To be fair their Mango one is ok especially at that price.
  19. As part of my training consultancy I had a few different courses I attended on Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP). One of the things that always stood out to me was how the practitioners, (often high level psychologists) were able to show that humans were very bad at focusing on the negative of a statement. E.g. If you see a motorway sign that says "don't drink and drive", many peoples first thought would be, "I'd love a drink right now", where as a sign that said "drive sober" would be positive reinforcement of the idea of not drinking and driving. This is my only explanation as to why SL's statement of "I am not looking to sell the club" is being taken as a clear indication that he is in fact, looking to sell the club. Shame he didn't say, "I will continue to own the club, but potentially in combination with other parties". (The NLP version).
