Amazed that no one has yet speculated that he is going because the commute is too much, he has family matters he would rather focus on or he has been offered a better job elsewhere.

The last few months have been pretty toxic on here with the SL slagging.

Agreed, it’s as if most on here can’t wait to get on SL’s back, let’s wait and see what the reason is for him leaving before we put any more knives in

Yet we were apparently close to breaking FFP and a points deduction.

But we didn’t, Reading’s problem has been known for a few seasons now but they’ve seemed to have done very little about it, Rovers go there next month they can easily make a dent in their debts by giving them 20,000 tickets which Rovers will knock out within an hour

Deducted the 3 points that were suspended last year.
Not fair on the fans, but not sure what other sanctions they could impose. A fine is pointless on a club with no money, so points deduction is the only way. Short of forcing the owners to sell, which I can't see would ever work.

Reading FC have been deducted three points from the 2023/24 League One table after the Club failed to comply with the order of an Independent Disciplinary Commission (IDC) which required them to deposit an amount equal to 125% of the Club’s forecast monthly wage bill in a designated account by 12 September 2023.

On 15 August 2023, the IDC had determined the Club had breached EFL Regulations related to the Club having failed to pay its players’ wages on time and in full on or around 31 October 2022, 30 November 2022, and 28 April 2023. The Club received a one-point deduction, with a further three points suspended.

As a result of this latest instance of non-compliance by the Club’s ownership, the suspended sanction has been activated and, as per the Commission's instructions, applied by the EFL to the League One table with immediate effect.

The EFL continues to acknowledge the negative impact sporting sanctions are having on the Football Club and remain extremely disappointed and frustrated at the Club’s ownership to meet its ongoing obligations under EFL Regulations. The League will continue to apply its rules in all circumstances deemed appropriate.

No sympathy that they have no money, if they would of opened up the whole away end for away fans like they used to it would of made them £100,000’s over the last few years, instead they preferred to give away fans just 2,000 tickets and have 10,000 empty seats

  5. I think England have some of the best players in the world and would have as good a chance as any of winning a major trophy but not while we’ve got the hopeless Southgate in charge, how he ever got the gig in the first place is beyond me

And the Beacon is around 2k capacity. So it fills a nice void.

For example, I'm seeing Ricky Gervais at the Beacon in Dec. 2k capacity is way too small for him really. If the AG arena was ready then I'd imagine he'd have performed there instead.

Lucky man, I’ve tried like mad to get tickets but it’s all silly prices now

I think they'd get good crowds but I suppose the bigger money maker is that it can host other events all year round. It will have a larger capacity than Beacon Hall for example.

    Where is Beacon Hall?

    Why?

If SL sells us to a “shit owner” it really reflects that he’s either a) not done his due diligence or b) doesn’t care as long as it gets sold.

    ??‍♂️??‍♂️??‍♂️

Most owners are “shit” according to their own fans with the obvious odd exception, we’d be very very lucky to get a new owner because of their love and best intentions for our club

If there’s one thing the sale of Scott proves it that’s SL is out solely for himself. He could not give a flying **** about the fans, backed up by previous comments about it being “my club”. No, Steve, you’re a deluded custodian.

I used to think he was a great benefactor but the fact of the matter is I, and thousands of over long-term sufferers, committed considerably more of our relative wealth towards supporting the City than he ever has.

That self-interest will eventually see him profiteer from selling the club or any variation of it, while we are left in limbo until he does sell up. The one positive is we have a manager of experience who might be able to achieve something against all odds. No doubt SL would take all credit if he does.

You honestly believe that he will make any sort of profit from the club? When you are as wealthy as he is money is practically an irrelevance, just out of interest (and I’m fed up with asking this question on this forum with no reply) what is the alternative to SL?

What an unpleasant, ungrateful post.  Whatever the actual amount SL loses (I firmly believe it will be a very large number indeed, and SO WHAT if you think he should have put in even more), he will have left us with a fantastic stadium and an established Championship club.  I've seen far too many poor matches at crappy grounds in the third and fourth tiers not to be grateful for that.  Yes some things haven't worked out, but there is no magic formula for appointing successful managers, effective CEOs, great players that other clubs somehow don't want (and who want to come here), etc.

Personally I've invested precisely ZERO in the club.  I've paid for many many admission tickets, in return for which I've been able to watch games.  Some have been magical and some have been dire, but you know the range of possibilities when buying the ticket.  I've also paid for and received other City-related products.  But these are payments for goods/services, not investments

This is quite possibly the best post I’ve read for many a year, people should be very very careful what they wish for, I’ve spent many of thousands of pounds over the last six decades with my eyes wide open knowing that the bad days massively outweigh good days 10 to 1

In the 70s in the East end we used to sing you'll never walk alone and that got everyone going. It is not Liverpool's to own. Of course we were standing then which also helped.I

But for me a good old fashioned one to the tune of tiperarry .

It's a long way to Bristol city, it's a long way to go, it's a long way to Bristol City to the greatest team I know. Goodbye Bristol rovers, farewell Cardiff too, it's a long long way to Bristol City but out hearts with you.

In the EE in the ‘70s we also used used to sing ‘I’m forever blowing bubbles” and more bizarrely “H’way the lads” !!!!

Interesting , shows how we see things differently.
    I'd say ...

2 disallowed goals for offside were correct First probably right, haven't seen Bell's again to say.

Disallowed goal by Knight should have stood.  I thought it was an easy one to give, push in the back, even if the defender makes the most of it.

Yellow card correct decision as man on cover. to say. For my money , Wells at full pace is running to the centre of goal and the cover is still well wide.

Sykes - should have been a penalty for push in back   Another I would like to see again, but initially thought it wasn't.

Naismith handball - should have been a pen

Basically, the ref didn’t get much wrong!!!!

Definitely. Our main striker is Nakhi Wells, who scored & had one disallowed in his last game.

Proven consistent goal scorer at this level, 160 career goals in total, excellent availability record.

    Next question.

I would argue that 30 goals in nearly 150 games for us is not being “ proven at this level” when you consider what we paid for him (at 29) he’s been a poor buy

What you fail to recognise was at no point did I say we should pay the equivalent of what rovers were prepared to pay for a proven goal scorer. I was merely stating the fact that people were mocking rovers for trying to sign JCH which showed more ambition from them than our owners have showed. No where did I say we should be signing anyone for £15m! Christ, a loan deal for a striker would have been something! But no, SL doesn’t want to spend money on the football club.

All that seems fair enough to me, a fantastic signing if it would of happened, my only surprise is that one of the big-hitters in that division didn’t come in for him like Pompey or Derby in particular who are desperate for a striker
